  • Great rendition of the Charlie Chaplin classic. So true it is!!!

  • The telethon is a tradition. I was up all night as a kid all through the 70's. I've seen the telethon live about 20 times since 1984. I even got to see Sammy. I;m afraid they will get less money, and that is very sad. I'll be in line again this year (early) and hope all goes well.

  • like how Sammy did that dance and then the verses comes back in! pretty good

  • I was very disheartened to learn that the telethon will be cut to only 6 hours. Even more disturbing was the fact that the press release on the MDA website had no comment from Jerry Lewis. In fact the press release didn't even mention him at all!

  • @JoeWellington what do you mean? Has something changed?

  • @voiceofelijah2012 The telethon has been shortened to 6 hours and will be broadcast on the day before Labor Day. MDA has hinted Jerry Lewis' participation isn't neccessary. Sad.

  • @JoeWellington If Lewis is not apart of this telethon, they just killed it and honestly, Jerry should publicly announce his ending and go out in style. This is bad business.

  • does anyone know what song he had sung just before this clip starts?

  • Thank you for posting...This is my all time favorite video ever of any...so beautiful and sad...and wise... dedicate this to my Babygogira...carry on...

  • The best performer of all time! Singing a most beautiful song written by Charlie Chaplin...No-one will ever better Sammy!! R.I.P. Mr. Davis. xo.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. Sometime in the late 50's Sammy was scheduled into Cleveland for a 1 night performance. A snowstorm kept planes from landing so he hired a train to bring him in. We sat patiently waiting for 2 hours till he got in and then in a heart stopping performance he sang, danced, played about 6 or seven instruments, and talked to us for hours. What a showman.!

  • Sammy was the Greatest singer, and the greatest dancer, he ran rings around Fred and Gene. Simply wonderful thankyou for posting.:)

  • Thank you so much for posting. This reminds me of his vigorous days in 60's. I really love this one.
