sailing19100 - Certainly, Hell's touch and phrasing are superb; I just can't say enough about this amazing organist. What I was remarking on, however, has to do with the rhythmic alteration. It's hard to comment on this without writing a book but, briefly, in this style the notes are not played as written. The most famous example of a French Overture is the Overture to Handel's "Messiah" - one seldom if ever, these days, hears it played as notated. Google "overdotting" if you are curious.
the way Felix played ( not here, but in the past when i saw him played), really is so FIERY and ENERGIZED that he can make HELL scared of him man...and he is still rather young ya...
same here..... Once in Grand Rapids, once in Kalamazoo and another time in Rochester Hills. He played this piece the first time i heard him. I was late... and i could hear this being played from outside the church. AWESOME!!
yes, I think he is quite the organist. The first time I saw him was at Irving Auditorium in Philadelphia, about 5 years ago. He played on the newer Austin ( I think that's what it was) I also saw him at St. Paul the Apostle in NYC and the Methodist Church in Red Bank NJ.
Sehr gut mit musikalischem Gefühl gespielt!
Absolut klasse!

This is stunning! Finally, an organist who understands the French Overture style - truly, what Bach had intended.

@Tierce07 Could you explain that a bit more, along the lines of touch and phrasing, and whatever else characterizes that style, thanks.

Although the organ in Grand Rapids was much larger.. a 32 ft stop in the pedal.

Good to see more of Felix on youtube. I have had the pleasure of seeing him 3 times in person. Great performer.
