lisa i absolutely love your videos! i really wish i can get the no7 or the dior lipstick here in the state but they do not have it :( would you recommended any other ones i can use similar to those...?
Hello! Have a look at my beauty channel! I could use the support, and I would love to hear feedback! And who knows? It might be exactly what you're looking for. :)
I'm so glad to have found this video because recently I got the urge to get a little bit more into dark red lipsticks but at the same time I tried to avoid them as well because they do take some confidence to wear out, so - thank you for this!
But I have a question as well and maybe you can help me with it. I'm currently on the hunt for a dark red lipstick but on that doesn't have pink or purple undertones, just a really deep, rich red colour. Do you maybe know a shade like that?
You mentioned pale and small lips but what if you have both which one would be best? I'm off to my department store soon, would love it if you answered :) love your videos!
the two lipsticks you have remind me of my favorite gloss, which i love, called [and im not joking guys! total bitch by blue q. its a nice plummy color, very rich. but it goes on amazingly sheer. one coat is generally good enough to go out in, and touching up as needed. i actually just tried to find it and i dont think they sell that shade anymore. happy i have an extra!
I personally feel that pale skin looks the best with dark lipsticks, the contrast is amazing, especially if the person has red or dark hair, and blue eyes. I like the lipsticks you shown, my favorite was the 17 Lasting Fix Lipstick in New Black, that color is great. Also another step I do, is add a little bit of black into the lipstick it richens its up a little more or I do the outside of my lips in black, and the inside in the dark red shade, its a nice look :)
Have been wearing the dark lip look on and off in the last year, and thought nothing came better than my L'oreal Plum lipstick... SO WRONG! that YSL lipstick is a 'must have' product!! Thanks Lisa x
what can you suggest for those of us with large lips? mine are quite full and fairly pigmented (a medium pink). my skin is a fair olive. no redness, small pores.

Hi Lisa. I have ash blond hair and my skin is very light (Chanel Vitalumiere BR20). I love to wear red lipstick but some people keep saying that it didn't fit me. Which color do you think works best for me? xoxo
I am having a rainy day relaxation by re-watching your videos :) What I really love about your looks is that they're so chic. If something would say parisienne chic, that's what this is to me. Love the 'me but better' looks. (I love other looks as well but these make me feel the most beautiful) :)
Lisa. I absolutely ADORE your videos - your tips are like no other. They make so much sense - and you are so wonderful and giving with information - you genuinely want to teach. Please keep doing these videos - you're really wonderful.
I've just found your channel and love it. This video is especially helpful for me because I am super-pale, and I've kept away from trying dark lips because they turn out too extreme for my taste. Thanks for giving the two application options. I also like how you applied blush and touched up your eyes after the final lip look. It's a trick I will definitely use to get a flawless look.
Hi Lisa, I love this video and it has inspired me to try a darker lipstick. I am super pale and have tried to get the Rimmel Vintage123 lipstick you recommend for pale skin but cannot get hold of it. Are you able to recommend an alternative for super pale skin? Thank you.
Beautiful! I bought Ballet Russe Rouge Coco as a change to my normal colours but was a little scared to wear it. Having watched this, I feel much more confident so shall be wearing it tomorrow :-) Thank you x
girls, my tip is to use MAC paintpot in Artifact - it's the most gorgeous autumn plum colour and texture for lips. It stains your lips for hours, doesn't come off, you can layer with lip gloss or even a lipstick, as the paintpot goes matt and sinks in within seconds. I LOVE IT!
Oh this is so beautiful! Perfectly suited to your coloring, I think, Lisa. On the otherhand, I've got that red/pinky undertone you mentioned & even when I try to really cover it, I think reds & darker lips just make my entire face look overly made-up. But! You've inspired me to try again! Thanks!!
I bought the YSL lipstick; love it. I must say the color suits me fabulously. My skin tone is tan/olive NC40. Thanks for the suggestion. SA at Neiman Marcus found it interesting that I was buying a lipstick from a YT video.
Love watching your videos! And Oh my goodness, your show just started in New Zealand, I was so excited when I saw it in the paper :) My favourite dark lipstick is Mac Rebel...I bought it maybe 18 months ago. And I can't believe how many people feel entitled to tell me that they really DONT like it. Well boo to them. Thanks for the great videos, Melissa.xx
@melcantfindausername *waves* Yay! Another Kiwi who loves Lisa! :) I've actually found that in this country, people don't tend to like dark lipsticks at all. I find it quite interesting. (Rebel is gorgeous, I'm loving Diva right now)
i ADORE true vintage by rimmel i wear it all the time im wearing it now you've made me so happy haha. i've got the whitest skin people used to call me casper. lovely tutorial.
I don't think tis is possible because olive skin is always cool and a shade that look great on cool skintones would never look acceptable on warm skintones.
@leccah Thanks for your suggestion. But olive skin is always (always-always-always) cool and I'm warm (red hair, freckles, orange is my colour). Everything with berry or lilac in it will just make me look like I'm frozen to death.
Great tutorial! I am rushing out to get the Rimmel shade this instant. I would also love any other suggestions for a redhead who is a little too comfortable with bronzy/coppery shades and looking for something a little riskier. Thanks so much, you are my favorite channel!

thank you again! i just picked up some plum lipstick, but didn't know what i should do for the rest of face without looking gothy or dated. i can't wait to give this look a go.
i need to get that new dior foundation. can't wait till it comes out here and i can't wait to wear dark lips, it's still too warm here in southern california.
that was a great vid! you were able to make both your eyes and lips stand out. can u make a short vid on that eye? did you really just used one shadow?
Thank you, Lisa, for this great tutorial! I love the look of dark red lips but with my copper red hair and very pale, cool toned / pink skin I'm not sure, if I can pull it off. Could you recommend a lipstick that suits me? Thank you!
Thank you for another great video Lisa! I am very pale and suffer from bluey coloured veins around my eyes making it look like I have terrible dark circles, I have tried just about every concealer out there without much success so will definitely be trying this Lierac one. Just a quick question though...i've had a look online and there doesn't seem to be different shades, is it just one shade? Thank you x
i have really pale skin and often find that many of the high end brands dont do foundation pale enough, ive got the nars sheer matte currently as i also have oily skin. Any others you would reccomend? thanks :)
I have a dozen or more shades of lipstick that are my-lips-but-better and 2 deeper shades (that I never wear). I'm fair and approaching 40, so I'm going to buy/try Rimmel True Vintage - it seems a little safer.
Also, I've been using my lipstick as rouge for a homogenous look, I blot it onto my finger tips from my lips. This is so nice when I'm out and my blush is faded and I look washed out. Great tip from you!
Almost 40 here, thank you for including my age-bracket in your videos!
I have blonde hair , blue eyes and fair to tanned skin and although I had loved this look I had no idea how I would pull it off! That first rimmel colour looks spot on for what I would need. ANother great video from you :)
My problem is I have too plumpy lips. I mean, I have very voluminous lips which is good but when I put on red lipstick I feel a little bit whore-ish..which shade do you suggest me?Mat, glossy or natural finish?
Gorgeous looks! I have always loved the darker lips, especially now in the fall and winter seasons... Just purchased Clinique's Black Honey and it has quickly become my favorite!
you are one of my favorites make up artist! and you have very good taste, not only in make up, but also in your nail polish for example or your clothes :) congratulations and good luck!!
love this look, could you do one on a darker skin toned model? I'm asian with medium skintone with rather thick lips which i hate. how do i wear a dark lipstick without making my lips look huge? i'm always just wearing lipbalm or tinted lipgloss just so i do not draw attention to my lips... I also love nude lip color but my natural lip color are quite dark. how do i do a nude lip color on them?
Lisa, you are a true artist! We have almost the exact same coloring (eyes, skin, hair). I know when you demonstrate a look that I can *try* to reproduce it and it will be appropriate for me. You have a gift, thank you for sharing!!! :)
I'm all about this look right now. It's a nice change from a constant nude lip. I think that's the same reason a lot of women also don't wear red lipstick, because of redness standing out on their face. I love a colorful lipstick.
More pearls of wisdom on beauty, makeup and overall cosmetic deliciousness packaged in under 15 mins of video! Love the concept of dabbing lippy on with the fingers.. makes wearing lipstick much less scary.
Great tutorial Lisa! I have fair skin with blonde hair & very light blonde eyebrows, I find this look suits me really well. I find it difficult to do a strong eye look though with my eyebrows. I used to tint them but this this resulted in me looking a little too Joan Crawford for my liking. I know it is encouraged to define the eyebrows, mine are not dis-simular shape wise to yours just very blonde & don't need filling in, I'm left a bit flummoxed with what to do!! Any suggestions?
Love love LOVE dark lips! I find it a difficult look to maintain, more because the skin needs to be kept blotch free than anything else, but I do love this trend!
hi Lisa, I'm Italian and I love your style...I've combination skin, but Ihate the large pores on my cheeks...what can I use to correct them??? What foundation you suggest? I've 30 years old...
Hi Lisa, thanks for another brilliant tutorial,I really want to try Lierac eye cream, their products are brilliant but difficult to get here in UK,what shade are you using? It seems a right one for me.
Hi Lisa, thanks for another brilliant tutorial,I really want to try Lierac eye cream, their products are brilliant but difficult to get here in UK,what shade are you using? It seems a right one for me.
Lisa I really like everything about you not only your video, your personality the way you talk so kind and help everyone with their questions, I am totally in love with you not in bad way just as good person I love you. thanks for this nice video.
I am so excited for this to be a trend! For some reason I have been gravitating towards these kinds of shades for years... but I have very fair skin! Thanks so much for making me feel more comfortable with these colors!
lisa, please answer. am 22 but have deep lines under my eyes! so my concealer sinks in, you recommended sk-II before but thats out of my price range, could you recommend a cheaper alternative please?? av tried clinque. thanks
I love this look! I use lip pencils a lot, but they seem to either dry out my lips over time, or wear off fast. Any tips on how to use lip liners? Oh and for Canadian viewers, Rexall carries the Lierac brand.
@HollyRamblesOn if your lips are particularly dry, avoid the long lasting pencils all over the lips as, although they stay on better, they are more drying. Instead just use it after lipstick application as a shape corrector and blend over the colour so it looks natural x
lisa i suffer from what looks like terrible rosacia. I was told to avoid acidic foods to see if it would help but nothing has. I have a terrible time covering it, and the cappilaries. Do you know of a product that over time can help supress this? And also a hydrating foundation with good coverage to get rid of the awful redness :( thank you!
@katherynxx poor you darling..Rosacia is so difficult to deal with. Have you seen the new Vichy with dermablend sticks and liquid foundations? They are great. Very good coverage. I use them on a celebrity who has a similar problem x
Love this! I absolutely love dark lipstick colors, I feel they can make you look polished and made-up instantly. I absolutely adore plums and berry tones. And what you say about redness and pale skin is so true! I've always been afraid of reds; with my fair complexion and pinky patches of skin, I could end up looking like I ate a chili burrito in the dark and didn't have a napkin. It does look messy if you're not careful with color and application.
Gorgeous as always, Lisa! I've actually vowed to wear darker lipsticks this autumn and started today with NYX's Chaos. I had so many looks I thought I was topless! A darker lip seems to make more of an impact on people than the smokey eye - I suppose because people reckon you got guts to pull it off and that it can look so great!
Lisa, which lip stains would you recommend for a look like this? I play many instruments and sing at school (the perks of being a high school music enthusiast) and when I wear a darker lip it onyl ever lasts for an hour...
I can't tell you how wonderful it is for you to make these videos for us. I have learnt so much from you, techniques, products, trends...Your looks are always very modern regardless of if they re dramatic or heavy. It is a great privilege to learn how to achieve these up to date looks from a wonderful makeup artist and such a sweet heart.
Thank you for your time and efforts making these videos, I truly appreciate it.
Lisa, this is a fantastic video. Thanks so much! I was hoping you would do a video about dark lipsticks. I've got a few dark lipsticks and still haven't had the courage to wear them. Now I know what to do.
I love that ysl lipstick! it would match my skin tone quite well, as I have dark skin with a yellowish kind of undertone.

I mean, I have very voluminous lips which is good but when I put on red lipstick I feel a little bit whore-ish..which shade do you suggest me?Mat, glossy or natural finish?
noidee2 1 year ago
always been a little apprehensive of these sorts of colours being a redhead but seeing how good they look on I may just have to give it a go...

thank you for sharing! you look fabulous!!
but does the lipstick really stay on that long? wouldn't it faid in a couple of hours? because then you have to keep reapplying it.
how can you prevent this?
please mail back!

love this look, could you do one on a darker skin toned model? I'm asian with medium skintone with rather thick lips which i hate. how do i wear a dark lipstick without making my lips look huge? i'm always just wearing lipbalm or tinted lipgloss just so i do not draw attention to my lips... I also love nude lip color but my natural lip color are quite dark. how do i do a nude lip color on them?
meiltoo 1 year ago
Lisa, you are a true artist! We have almost the exact same coloring (eyes, skin, hair). I know when you demonstrate a look that I can *try* to reproduce it and it will be appropriate for me. You have a gift, thank you for sharing!!! :)

I'm all about this look right now. It's a nice change from a constant nude lip. I think that's the same reason a lot of women also don't wear red lipstick, because of redness standing out on their face. I love a colorful lipstick.

I love this look! I use lip pencils a lot, but they seem to either dry out my lips over time, or wear off fast. Any tips on how to use lip liners? Oh and for Canadian viewers, Rexall carries the Lierac brand.
HollyRamblesOn 1 year ago
@HollyRamblesOn if your lips are particularly dry, avoid the long lasting pencils all over the lips as, although they stay on better, they are more drying. Instead just use it after lipstick application as a shape corrector and blend over the colour so it looks natural x

lisa i suffer from what looks like terrible rosacia. I was told to avoid acidic foods to see if it would help but nothing has. I have a terrible time covering it, and the cappilaries. Do you know of a product that over time can help supress this? And also a hydrating foundation with good coverage to get rid of the awful redness :( thank you!
katherynxx 1 year ago

Thanks for the tutorial! ;)

Gorgeous as always, Lisa! I've actually vowed to wear darker lipsticks this autumn and started today with NYX's Chaos. I had so many looks I thought I was topless! A darker lip seems to make more of an impact on people than the smokey eye - I suppose because people reckon you got guts to pull it off and that it can look so great!
feistyfluxy 1 year ago
Lisa, which lip stains would you recommend for a look like this? I play many instruments and sing at school (the perks of being a high school music enthusiast) and when I wear a darker lip it onyl ever lasts for an hour...
