Dr. Spivak, I had a lapband for about 2yrs and during that time I had problems with it leaking, and the tubing broke 4 times. The last time it broke 1 week after I had gotten it repaired from a previous break. All the time the doctor was telling me he was replacing the broken tube, I found out he was doing patch work. Isn't replacing the band the right thing to do after the first breakage in this situation?
I had lapband in 2006 and just recently found out my band has slipped... So as I am seeing here it doesn't have to be removed completely but can be fixed? I came so far with this I hate the thought of having to have it removed..
Thank you for your reply. Dr. Spivak your videos are very educational and I have posted many of them to my page. I plan on making speaking of your videos in one of my vlogs on my lab band journey. Your work is impressive & I would like my fellow weightloss surgery friends to see your page.
Amazing! I am astounded by repair in this video! I would love to know how long the band had been in before the slip. When you were cutting the tissue away from the band, was that scar tissue?
is it common for them to slip

How often do lap-bands slip? And is it expensive to have it repaired/replaced? And does it ever cause permanent damage to the patient?

The band was places 4 years prior to slippage. Yes, I cut the scar tissue not the wall of the stomach.
Thanks you for your comment.
