I dont know why all of you think Phil Hellmuth is a 'great' player. He has been playing every world poker tournament since 1985. So you think well he one 11 years since then (although he may have 12 bracelets now lol.) wrong. Let me mention 2007 WSOP. They gave they had 55 bracelet events. I'm not saying he is bad. Just not great. Have you seen some of his plays? I would say he has great potential. (fans of Phil, dont take this the wrong way.)
My point is he is good, But if I got to go to every WSOP event for free and I went to every one I could easily get 10 bracelets. You have to remember some of the smaller events do have many people.
YassnG, in Theory you could, yes... in reality.. no chance... two, maybe three tops.. but then again the WSOP grows every year so your odds will decrease significantly..that is also to assume that you have any skill in the game.
if u use that logic then ur saying ivey is not a great player because he only wins the random events like 2-7 high low and htat crap where the talent is much worse than a nl holdem event, ivey has never won a holdem bracelet where hellmuth has won 11 hold em bracelets

I simply mean that going all in, short stacked or not, on such a weak hand as K9 with any consistency, as your statement states, is not wise as you are ignoring odds & playing like luck will always come down on your side, which it will not. You would be better off waiting for a better hand before even calling the blind with those rags. KT, KJ, KQ, and AX all dominate K9. Think about it.

Of course it depends how low your stack is but you wana be able to make some not like 50 chips cause thats all you got. You have to be able to make a nice amount. So you gotta use the first best hand that comes, not go broke waiting for KJ so when you win you only have enough chips for to BBs.

It is a valid strategy for a short stack in tourney play and it does depend on your position at the table when K9 may be viable for such a move. My favorite of all time is the Christian Dragonmeir bad beat he takes (T4 suited against AQ). Calling the guy an idiot 4 or 5 times until Christian tells him "your an idiot!" and "look just let me blow away my 10 grand the way I want" and "Yeah, I'm an idiot with a stack, you do not have a stack!" @bandet888Sorry, I have been off comments for a while. The best answer I can give you is Google any term you are unfamiliar with, it will be there. That being said the Gap Principle is simply you need a better hand to call a bet then to make a bet since it is easier to throw money on the table to TRY and steal a pot then it is to call cold a bet, since you are telling everyone you have at least SOMETHING in your hand, at least enough to call versus fold.

Agreed. He is THE BEST-- because as said successful play is warranted by how many bracelets you have and Hellmuth has the most by far. It would be practically impossible for anyone here to go win eleven bracelets-- even if they had a time limit of for the rest of their lives. Seriously.
