This version is from the soundtrack of the johnny depp's movie, "The Man Who Cried"...it sounded really beautiful...wish I had the song with the clips from the movie
it was written by a hungarian. it's known as the sucide song. it' s supposed to be the most depressing song ever written. the writer sent it to his girlfriend after she dumped him and she committed sucide after hearing it. i don't think it's that depressing. actually quite enlightening
Exquisite, black. In translation and delivery, sweet as the love of one's past loves which never leaves the heart's depths. A golden honey which covers you until that final breath is muffled, from which we pull back, kept between the world of the living and dead. Is it better to remain living and remember or take the chance of being in their arms again? We never really "move on" and those that suggest such must still be with their only lover they've ever had.
hi Divineldyll: This version IS from the soundtrack to "The Man Who Cried"...I have the cd and this is that version...I wish that there were clips from the movie to go with the song...it would have been PERFECT...and I agree about the cats!! What's up with that...I'm an animal lover and have nothing about cats, but I don't see the connection of cats to this very, very sad song...
yes, i agree, touching song and i like this version more too, because Iva Bittová is completly perfect musician!!!But what has this song common with Hungary?
Stupenda voce ed interpretazione. E i gatti, in quanto creature magiche, si adattano perfettamente al mistero che emana da questo brano.

This is the seventh version I've been uploading on YouTube. And I've finally come across a version almost as perfect as that by Billie Holiday.
Iva Bittova's rendition is just perfect - with the right melancholy-filled touch, longing for the lost beloved...
Of course, i don't judge the original - it is full of deep grief, pain and sorrow.
Yet, I share the opinion of those that this song should end with the same tone despair and pessimism - to break the listeners' hearts completely...

I love this song...it reminds me of The Man Who Cried.
What's with all the pictures of cats though? Is it because they all look gloomy?
