Not many games allow speed runs potentially "perfectable" in one go, so it's commonplace, I'd say. I don't think such a thing as a perfect speed run is even possible in FFTA though.
Great job with this run. Have you considered making or planning a fully tool assisted speedrun of FFTA? What do you think the biggest changes having perfect luck would be from this run? Would you still employ a Gadgeteer for Chroma gem, since the rockseal can be manipulated to always work anyways? Is fighters' Beatdown reliable enough to be used even later in the game, or does it still not deal enough damage? I'm guessing you would use more Assassins as well as the flower mission item.
I have no interest in breaking my current record. I started the speed run because I needed another challenge and because I wanted to try one for a while. I played it for fun, though a lot of it was really frustrating.
If I did an entirely TAS, I'd use the same things I used before, not rejecting Beatdown and probably hiring an extra Assassin and an early Bishop.
Most of the challenges I do are luck-reliant and frustrating, a TAS would be foreign to my tastes.
Gastra bow? never seen that one... I've played for 200 hours to try to finnish all the missions but I just cant seem to get the blood apple more than once... and I need it for the fey blade I think.
*Clap* *clap* *clap* Awesome work, Li-grim surely was a big pain.I hope you'll do another speed run attempt.Altough I have a good knowledge of the game I can't imagine doing it myself.
The boss missions are very few and mostly you need to exploit statuses rather than deal great physical damage. It's a good idea to have more than one Assassin, and I should've got a Bishop earlier, as soon as the Snake Staff was available.
For instance, elemental attacks. Get a Telaq Flower (makes lightning damage more effective) and make a party equipped with lightning-elemental weapons and abilities. The missions that initiate upon entering an area won't benefit from this though.
I never seriously considered this, but MAYBE doing the missions that give you one of the semi-secret characters with Ultima already mastered would be efficient timewise. And you could get yourself Ethers by opening state from treasure hunts.
Beatdown is unreliable. It's the best thing to attack sleeping enemies and even then Rockseal/Last Breath/Break are more effective. Even though you can always restart, you often end up continuing the speed run after seeing Beatdown miss, meaning it's a much better idea to find other means of dealing damage.
Would you say magic users are helpful at all in any speed run of this game?

I thought that it would allow the text to be skipped quicker. I'm not sure if it changed anything though.

'Grats. Your time seems impressive to me, but I'm more of a completionist than a speed-runner.
