  • You are a chef too! Wow!

  • John did you get the coconut already shredded or did you harvest yourself? If you bought it where might I get it? Thanks

  • I am considering to make this pie for my bird on Valentine day...

I am sure she will like the surprise. :)

  • Ah, looks like a missed the deadline. That's a shame because this video didn't show up on my subs list = (

  • That looks delightful! Decadent and economical. Off to vote for you. What do you win? ; P

  • Really great recipe, John. Thanks. I'm so glad and grateful to have an experienced and healthy long-term raw food person as a role model for inspiration and education.

  • i heard it was since people started consuming wheat in this country that fueled obesity. I've read the insulin spike from foods like wheat is unhealthy and leads to insulin resistance...also rice, potatoes and most starchy foods.

  • Voted

  • @pessimystical1 Best of Luck!

  • I voted for YOU!

  • Voted for ya...Thanks for your video's, I've learned so much from you..

  • I voted for you!!!

  • Amazing delicious! i voted

  • I've just voted for you. Excellent recipe. Will definitely try it at home.

  • Voted for ya John. There were others that were tempting, but you've made much more of an impact on my life. Thanks for all you do!

  • John, I would have liked to seen you slice it so I could see what it should look like.

And if you chill it, how long will it stay firm before cutting and serving?

Should you chill it in the freezer a bit?

  • voted... hope you win! I will try this recipe when I get a food processor :)

  • guilt free? not exactly, that's the heck of a lot of avocado, tons more fat than you should have in one serving

  • Amount of Fat is relative. As a society, we have villainize fats... Fat is a required nutrient, and we need to get an adequate amount. I would rather get my fat by eating avocados which contains monounsaturated which has been shown to lower cholesterol than animal based fats that raise cholesterol. That being said, this recipe was formulated for a raw desert contest where MOST contestants use OIL which is 100% fat. Just 1.5 TBSP of oil contains as much fat as one whole california avocado.

  • In addition, I encourage people to eat deserts as a special occasion treat, not everyday . I RARELY eat/make pies like this to eat. The only time is if there is a recipe contest, a friends party or other special event. Finally I would like to add that most Americans are overweight/fat because they eat too much processed foods (including oils and sweeteners) and I believe people should get back to eating natural plant-based whole foods diet mostly consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables.

  • @phoggee It's a ton of fat if you were to eat the entire pie in one sitting but one slice with no overts otherwise in the day?

  • i voted

  • You've got my vote. Looking good in that jacket.

  • A black belt in raw food?

  • Looking good!

  • Awesome!!! Yum Yum

  • Thanks for the fast reply. Enjoy all of your shows.

  • Perhaps this needs to chill prior to slicing and serving? What is "caviar of vanila bean"?

  • You can chill, which will allow the pie to be more firm when slicing. If sliced without chilling, it will be more like a pudding pie. The caviar of vanilla beans are the vanilla flecks from inside the bean.

  • i voted (: . Just curious, where did you get the carob ?! whole foods?

  • Raw Carob was available at my local Whole Foods. If you want the REAL Carob, please see

    watch?v=0AW6jRBQlnM

  • i wish you would have cut it out and showed us how that happpens? im pretty sure its gonna fall apart or something :/ and showed us how it tastes :)

  • If you cut it as-is, it will be more like a pudding-pie. If you put it in the fridge for 30 minutes, it will firm up. This video was limited to 5 minutes, so I was unable to show anything else. I may at some point put up the full-length video.

  • what does carob taste like? what if i cant get it .. what can i use instead? i love this cause it doesnt have nuts or oils :D whoot whoot for you man !

  • Carob has a taste all its own. Its a bit sweet, with a smokey kind of flavor. You can Omit it if you don't have it, but the pie will come out different. Its use is primarily as a flavor, color and texture agent in this pie.
