  • I most defiantly have an improved and expanded understanding of self esteem. Thanks, and keep up the good work, you are making a positive difference in people’s lives.

Lane Hale – Founder/ Author of Passion or Poison

  • How Does one cure feelings of guilt about things that keep one unable to feel the confidence they need to the fullest?

  • @utube3215 the way to get over guilt is to apologise to the person u have hurt/do something for the person/else depending upon the situation.

life cannot be wasted thinking abt the past or the future....its right now...so do something worthwile that brings peace and happiness

  • My area of expertise is not in psychology, but I really enjoyed this video. Keep up the good work!

  • I like your temp of speech and all presentation.

Maybe I would add the subtitles for the deaf people

  • Great video! I remember some of this from school.

    I have questions???

I never really made it out of the bottom stages of that pyramid yet seem to meet the description given of being self actualized.

The safety and physiological needs are a problem for me today. Housing, food, and health issues are my daily worries.

    My questions are...

Do many people ever make it this way? By climbing these stages, I mean? It makes sense to me that this would work, and be a way.

I love thinking on stuff like this

  • If I feel lonely, then I should call a friend. There is only one problem, I have no friends.

  • @guiqui5 Don't worry, you're probably more self actualized then the people around you.

  • thanks-

  • Great Stuff ! Thanks

  • the original chart...i never was safe..no wonder i never progressed and i'm 21.. was never safe at home. father molested me and mother didn't care and i had no1 to run to b.c they ran all my friends away and i told the police and they never gave a F. . I'm STUCK..any ideas?

  • i don't like her nose..

but i haev the "being needs" but like nothing else exists here..not in the home, not with "family" or friends..i have 1 or 2 good loyal friends both men ..and that is it. non sexual at all..but i find women are so jealous of me for no good reason!!!!!! i don't need your fuckin man!! shit! chill out!

  • @revelations171 no one cares.

  • @revelations171 that was a reply to your bitchy comments about her nose and then your tirade against women. not the molestation thing.

  • Next time you wear a skirt like that, pretend your knees hate each-other.

  • very nice presentation about self-esteem and girl you really have a high self esteem because I feel your very hot and you got the style. Keep it up babes;)

  • nicce legs

  • she had a nos job

  • My problem is that I cannot even fulfil my basic needs as I have never been in a relationship. This affects my esteem and as a result I am not attractive to women and the whole vicious cycle continues. Any advice?

  • @rinnin The most basic need is love for yourself. The main point in this video is not to worry about what others think of you. Self esteem comes from within YOU, not someone else. No one can lower your self esteem but you, and only you can make the choice to feel good about yourself. Think about what makes you unique, your passions, dreams & values. Even people in relationships can have esteem issues. This vid suggests ways we can increase our self esteem, no relationship needed.

  • @rinnin I think you should start loving urself first then u can love others or be loved by others..but i have the same situation..

  • @rinnin yes... watch videos by "mystery" and "the mystery method" ..

  • Most important part; "how do you feel when you learn something new? When you accomplish or understand something new?" This is active advice. Learning another language or running a marathon may not advance your career but will make you feel ALIVE and bring you closer to self actualization. The best thing is these accomplishments are linear calculations; time+effort+passion=success. Human relationships do not have the same linear approach to success and this can be confusing.

    ps loved the skirt

  • is that a kind of video thesis?

  • I guess republicans don't self actualize 6:04

  • Does transcending the self not presuppose religion?

  • @thecrooksareinoffice

    No, It does not.

  • why is beauty so high on the chart? seriously?

  • @thecrooksareinoffice

The higher something is on the chart, the LESS necessary it is for survival. Also, the need for beauty would not necessarily be the need to BE beautiful, but would also be the need to be around beautiful scenery or art, for example, or to decorate one's home in a pleasing manner.

  • @kcwicks i dont think transcidental self or the self actualization are the least needs because they are what can ceep you calm and happy and not attached to fragile things

  • Clothing too revealing and distracting...

  • Love is the capacity to be compassionate and to forgive those who have wronged us. True self-love, as opposed to the narcissistic self-fawning I-am-great-because "love", is defined by the capacity to be self-compassionate and to be self-forgiving. A complete instruction for self-growth requires the mention of the importance to be self-forgiving because without the capacity to acknowledge one's own errors, the incentive to grow is lacking because there's no correction of self-errors.

  • That was awesome:D thank you!

  • Really great advice, but in order to be taken more seriously, try to avoid such a short skirt. Some men might be distracted...

  • Thanks for the advice.

  • Thats allot to remember,

  • @LAyellowdog Then fave the vid and come back to it anytime you're feeling down. I'm also a fan of making little sticky notes around the house, to remind myself to be positive, be true to my passions, not let my fear and self doubt prevent me from pursuing my dreams, etc.

  • 11:18

  • Damn if this chick was my psych professor I would not learn much.

  • You don't buy a prostitute. You only rent her. At the end of the day, she still has her vagina.

  • @DiaShanti Thanks...

  • Love those legs!

  • I have all those above but not many of those below!

  • You're really good at this Corrina. Good job. Bonus self-esteem points for you!

  • Legs!

  • She has great legs!

  • This seems to go against the doctorine of pyshology today where many therapists teach patients Robert Ellis REBT. And his ABC model of rational emotive therapys. instead of endlessly trying to satisfy your self esteem you accept that your fallible, have flaws and that your no more worthy or less worthy than any other human being.

  • @tiberiousss Cognitive Behavior Therapy is one popular psychotherapy used today but it's one school of therapy (basically Ellis's brand) and it's not the only school or type of therapy used. There are psychotherapists, humanistic psychologists, and many other types.

Yes, these school often contradict one another in there basic philosophy. Ellis was famous for not liking many other school of thought.

  • @psychetruth Im assuming you dont agree with Ellis?

  • we love you, corrina

  • i havn't had sex for ages is that why i don't have any self esteem?

  • I totally love this. It helped me alot.

  • Need to contribute is the most important thing for me.

  • This is knowledge everybody should know about.

  • @BlueBetaPro We agree... feel free to share this video on your Facebook, blog, etc. Click the "Share" button... we sure appreciate it!!

  • Marijuana aided in my self-actualization character. It wasn't the sole ingredient but it was the push I needed to open my mind to a higher level of self-awareness and higher understanding of life and emotions.

  • damn girl...your legs are poppin!! i'd love to get a feel of those!

  • I really could make a great breakthrough, Psychologically of course, by adjusting the parts that i don't like about myself into what i would admire most a person...DEDICATION!!!

  • excuse my ignorance but ( 11:36 ) in that pyramid chart "love & belonging needs" is first than "esteem needs"... don't you need to love yourself first in order to love someone else?... just wondering

  • Do you no that the planet is being destroyed that South America has destroyed over 40% or there resouces. Point is God is comming and man needs to read their bible and get back to the basics. This planted is dumbed and I have really little power to stop it. God is the only real solution to any problems.

  • Fuck self-esteem.

  • if u masturbated alot it makes u low self esteem

  • Jesus provides meets all voids and man understanding will never feel that void that all human have mentally or physically. Stop trying to solve your problems in self esteem and confidence and serve others.

  • @silverton7777 suck my dick

  • that's a load of bull at the end, the real way of not caring so much about your self esteem is to actually focus on other stuff, to get your mind into something bigger

  • I think it definitely helps my self esteem to give other people compliments as well. It makes you feel good and makes the other person feel great too. Its pretty humbling actually.

  • I would love to fulfill her love and belonging needs

  • Psychology is more of an abstract science. I feel that Maslow was very true. I actually feel that he was bang on about Self Actualization. Rather than thinking about how possible it is. We need to see people who are actually self-actualizing and their set of traits. Having seen people like these, I can say for sure that Maslow is right.

  • @gettheredone I wish I could!

  • People mob and pick on others-some say- "stand up to them" not every one can do this- If you can't defend yourself, assert yourself -if you can't make it over that hurdle & gain the bulies respect then your'e worse of then when you started- & Im not a person who can stand up for himself- I'm not tough,I don't have status or class on my side, all I can do is scream in the open-shine a light & afterwards people act like I'm the trouble maker when I've been taking for years behind the scenes.

  • I'm apologize for the harshness but I get frustrated trying to get my point across- I am a non-violent person and do not want to be reckless in these comments, but I'm trying to get the picture across- that I have difficulty & troubles- & that I am not lazy,pompous,arrogant,crazy,bad- What I'm pleading for is understanding & reflection & more options for people- because many people like myself are vulnerable and cannot meet the expectations that allow for people to fit fit within the bell curve

  • Comment removed

  • People dont leave you alone, they hate, they pursue you, they gossip mindlessly, they attribute & project things, there's implicit informal hierarchical structures & if you cross implicit lines (which are oppressive, unequal, invalid) then people threaten you, & if you stand up for you & if they can't get away with doing you wrong openly, then they do things covertly, they mob you, make subtle threats & put downs-it seems impossible & Im one who doesnt have the psychological strength to handle it-

  • I know that when I go in front of scrutinizing eyes that it is hard to explain my difficulties and all they can do is look on coldly, detached, skeptically, and either say you are a bad irresponsible person, or you are sick and need medication- I say I cant handle different types of social elements- I go into panic, depression, suicide feelings,hopelessness,worry,fear- because people do so many bad things, or do not understand & villainize, or are so competitive, antagonistic & it depletes me-

  • when Io look at the entire society to try to explain, articulate (my favorite word), it is foggy- We live in a competitive world, people are mean, there is economic problems- there is authoritarianism- all these problems- how come it is so hard to understand why some people cannot get over certain hurdles? Why do we make the person who suffers from depression etc. the culprit? Why do people like to attack each other - as I write these comments I do not know to say or how to describe what I mean

  • I'm not justifying or condoning it but I understand how people who go berserk and blow themselves up or go on violent rampages feel - at least the ones who do it out of depression & hopelessness because- you get to feeling SO horrible & hopeless & the world seems SO cruel & indifferent that you just want to do something to let them know how bad you feel- One thing that would help would be economic justice as well as lighter living wage work option programs for people with stress issues.

  • It is really hard to explain- or describe depression- One thing I don't like about the current understanding is that it puts the complete burden on the individual when I think much more of it has to do with the social & human relationship- Like I suffer really bad from it- I do my best with the exercise, nutrition etc.. but I still have the problem and to try to pin it down to one thing is too simplistic and to just blame the individual is unfair because I can describe many dynamics-

  • hot

  • we do not have a clear understanding of the dynamics of depression. We blame the individual- like people blame me for my difficulties- they will call me arrogant, vain, apathetic, uncooperative- they will attribute many things to me that are false- but there are many there dynamics at work in any given individuals life - that's part of why I feel depressed because I do not think people will ever understand, they will always blame me- no matter how many times i tell them I am mostly powerless-

  • Now I feel such hopelessness & depression-Its like something impossible, heavy & undefinable. It feels like being simultaneously cheated, misunderstood, deplored, threatened, blamed, shunned, scorned, ridiculed & excommunicated. I feel physically hot, & confused &powerless.I feel suspect, doubted, suspended, dismissed.I have the ideation of suicide but I couldn't go through with it.I think maybe a miracle will happen & things will get better, but then it becomes a reoccurring nightmare of depression.

  • Mercy!

  • @gettheredone ...

No... Me no homo... me homosapien. Me love women. Me live with 3 young sexy women in me palace.

But me think you homo, homo.

  • I finally find the next thing that could motivate me easily. And that is your next video :) Thank you!

  • Thank you for creating this video. Your concern for our species is apparent in all videos, which you create. All things happen because of a few immutable laws of nature. Thus, we can manipulate our way life. Also, I appreciate and enjoy your demeanor on your videos. Finally, you have a natural physical beauty. What is your first name? I am not hitting on you, but I want to put a name to your persona. Again, thank you for creating your videos.

  • Corrina and Dr. Breeding teaching the pscyhetruth masses. THAT's gotta be the next step!

  • Great video! This channel needs more videos like this, and less message, and hair tips.

  • Being oneself is a good thing from the video. forget morals, be who you are. I've done charity and volunteer work , just like relationships, jobs...where it was "right way" , doesn't give or bring me happiness or joy or self esteem to me.

find out who you are. if followwing others is urr thing ..then that makes you a people pleaser.

I was looking for a technique to love thyself, but I don't ..that's my lmage..can't change.

    Everybody has theories

tell girl to e-mail ..me..to hook up 4 me..

  • Hmm, I think absolutely not caring about what other people think of us could be detrimental or even dangerous. You might be taking that too far.

  • Were is that girl that was in the videos a couple of years ago?

  • @daniellandgrens natalie? yea she was great too

  • @moviedude22 Yeah. That was the one.

She had something that made the info go in.

    Wonder what happened. Anyone knows?

  • Ever since I dropped down to 8 percent body fat, my confidence is blasting sky high. It's funny that when I was 12 to 13 percent, I didn't feel this amazing, but now i'm jamming.

  • Damn! Nice legs! Sorry I got carried away, by her legs that is.

  • I already know! Psychological "Illnesses" are like some kind of an immune-system response in a way. The brain decides to think irrationally for example, to avoid losing self esteem. For example: If you tell someone that they lived their whole life based on a lie, they will never look at your evidence or proof, because the truth might be to hurtful to them. The brain reacts to psychological dangers and defends itself through mind alteration which we then call an illness.

  • Thank you Corrina, very helpful

  • Another great video! Very useful and interesting.

  • great video, really interesting - ive made notes from it hopefully i will feel strong enough to put them into practice :)

  • hey girls! at last you're doing good.....but keep doing...pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee

  • More please.

  • I like your videos. Constructive criticism: Your leg showing is distracting - to be more effective you may pick different outfits or, chose a different camera angle. at 3:00 is alright. You even look uncomfortable showing the leg (body language). Thanks

  • @gotthenumber

this sounds like a personal problem

  • @gotthenumber I agree, she did look a little uncomfortable in the beginning and I too was a little distracted, but once she started spilling the beans, I just had to listen! : )

  • I love these videos. Thanks, I really look forward to more!

  • This is a good video, I like this series & much of what is said here- I'm not trying to drop a wordy, negativity bomb-I'm pointing out that people can be picked on, have things wrongly attributed & that in general they can receive mistreatment to a level that chips away at them beyond a point where they can simply "self Validate" or feel happy & that its good to listen to them, not doubt them & label them paranoid, or call them a liar-

  • You know they're treating you bad, taking digs, scoring points & that there's a conspiracy of silence & they execute their cruelty covertly, subtly, persistently & collectively- so there is no one to look to for validation or acknowledgement that they are tormenting you in this way, & you are made to feel unsure of yourself as many people antagonize you. When you bring it out in the open they say you are paranoid, or making false claims as the purveyors slip back into an act of naive innocence.

  • One bad thing is when people mob you or find reasons to support a notion that you deserve to be treated bad, or villainize you for some reason & then they spread falsity throughout the hive & many treat you bad either subtly or covertly or sometimes they use antagonistic reverse strategy where they love bomb you & put you on a pedestal then knock you down even lower than where you were in the first place, sometimes they frame you & set you up to look bad so they can justify treating you bad.

  • great video!

  • So if you have low self esteem, you are needing something at that time? You might be needing some contribution, and if you do not meet that need, then that can create your feelings? So you may feel low esteem because you are not meeting needs, which causes our feelings?

  • Rock on sweetie

  • rediculous all you need to succeed is obedience and compliance.

you will never have esteem in this curent mind fuck system only esteem based upon how much cash lines your wallet

  • Are you/ is she a therapist of some sort? She just seemed to descend from Heaven to this site...

Boring stuff again: It is odd how one can have some of the pyramid, and miss out of some other parts. Supposedly. Would it be possible to substitute concretes in this pyramid with deviations? I never had much love given to me until recently, so I substituted a hosiery fetish. Speaking of which, Corrina...

  • It seems that acceptance of closed doors is crucial to evolution. Odd how pain follows one all the way up.

You are hot, in case I never brought that up before.

  • Internal vs. external locus of control concerning self esteem...

Most people spend their life in the rat race of society, even to the point that every involvement becomes marred by power games.

So much frustration thats projected to others.

In a sense you can't avoid the locus of control being externalised, because if you stand your own ground people will leave you or vice versa, also morally.

The external world becomes deprived of worth and is emptied.

Everyone for himself based on that.

  • Couldn't the expressive behaviours also be considered coping behaviours? In cooking a meal for your loved ones, you could be fishing for a compliment in your cooking, which would be boosting your self esteem. Or in creating, you could create to also get praise, and also raise self esteem

  • did i say i feel bad when im mean to people who bully me? why would i even right that?? i usually just sit there and let them bully me because i would feel horrible if i were mean to them. it sucks -___-

  • @RaimiiChan Thing is, when people bully, usually they have a problem with them, so I feel sorry for them. But not long ago I was having a conversation with a friend about this, and he said even though one had a bad life, one should know what's wrong. And I agree. What I do, I punch him right in the face and say sorry. I don't feel as bad then. I used to ignore them aswell but now I occasionally do that, but usually I just lol at them and say get your problems sorted out before you make more.

  • im still on self esteem :( although i have alot of morals though i feel bad when im mean to people who bully me... i am too selfcetered though :p thank you for this video im going to try persuing some of the higher needs to meet my esteem needs like you said ^_^

  • I'm already at the self actualization stage. But I have never seen the "Transcending the Self" stage before in Maslow's pyramid. What is that supposed to be? Should I watch the video to the end? It's so long :-(

  • I guess I'm self-actualizing... ; ) Thanks, lady!

  • artificial. I know better

  • i "love" that maslow hierarchy thats the onnly thing that i kept from my psy classes in high school. this semester i'll be studying gender related to psychology maybe u could do a video on that topic?

  • who cares !!........... ;]

  • killing the illuminati would raise my self esteem.

  • Great video.

You have a charming way of saying "video".

Does anyone else detect the inflection?

  • im interested in your "need for beauty" as it appears cultural/thought to me.

  • I liked it... It helps to understanding the reasons behind low self esteem that ultimately affects our confidence levels..

  • Maslow has ALWAYS been my favorite...he knew what he was talking about.

(Psychetruth should have left his original pyramid alone)

When we go 3rd world, people should understand how we WILL act like animals once we are reduced to 'Physiological' and 'Safety' desperation needs.

  • good vid

  • 11:20

  • At least it's nice to see a real Psychetruth video instead of all these other people you lend/rent your channel out to. What exactly is the agreement you have with them?

  • Creepy overtones of imposing your morality on the rest of us, "don't start fights, use prostitutes or be promiscuous", "do self actualize through blah blah blah do as I say".

    Very dishonest.

  • I think that there is no better way to elevate your self-esteem and self-confidence than helping others. You just can't get to that level any other way. If you think that you can, your fooling yourself and not reaching your potential.

    Her legs are breath taking.

  • @spitoncat And who are you exactly to tell people how to reach their full potential? Abraham Maslow himself? It might be the right way for you, but there is no indication whatsoever that it works for everyone. Egoistical and egocentric behavior is often the faster way towards achievements, which boost self-esteem and confidence. It's a matter of what kind of a person you are, there is no ultimate rule that fits everyone. Keep that in mind, people are different.

  • not all needs need to be met to be confident,,,i think if we have love we usually have confidence too

  • Good stuff. Really should be useful to everyone considering we all face the same struggles. It's interesting how many of these things you can pick up on yourself and in others. Well put together and well presented.

  • Great video. The information was so compacted that one would need to wach it couple of times.

  • I think that a lot of us struggle with acceptance of where we are. A lot of times we are made to believe that if you don't have certain material possessions or live in "X" location you have failed. It's been a struggle for me at least to accept where I'm at and be thankful for the present I've engineered. I'm getting there but it is taking a lot of effort to be contempt without setting my goals too low.

  • I have been stuck at one plateau of actualization for years......I am shelf-actualized.

  • @rhykko77 good for you

  • @rhykko77 i'm proud of you

  • Great job!

  • Buy a prostitute!? Geez that was so unexpected I almost fell over! Too funny!

  • seriously marry me i am the most transcendent self actualized you will ever meet do it marry me

  • Google: Martha Laura Granados Immigration Prostitute

    The VAWA Immigration Loop-hole:

If you are a woman, pretend to be in love with a US citizen or a Legal Resident, get him to marry you. As soon as you got the marriage certificate dial 211 and falsely accuse him of Domestic Violence and Rape and move to a VAWA shelter.

You will be on a fast-track for a Green-Card and US citizenship - all expenses paid for by the US tax payer and as a bonus you will be getting full social benefits.

  • ***

And... What about the Feminist Workers in the VAWA funded shelter who Coach them on how to do that?

And... What about the Law-makers such as Joe Biden who draft/pass laws like VAWA that make this legal?

And... What about the Feminist that push their Misandristic Men-Hating Agenda and brain-wash the public with their lies that... Women are helpless victims and men are bad, perpetrators and must be restrained, prosecuted and jailed?

  • @avnerrietti oh boo hoo evil feminists are always saying mean things about you, how dare they. Your self esteem needs are clearly unfulfilled.

  • @DoJaenin ...

... Cont ... Basically this Ideology is:

    - Women are Good, Men are Bad!

    - Women are helpless Victims, Men are Perpetrators!

    - Women need Help and Protection, Men must be Restrained, Prosecuted and Jailed!

    ***

  • @avnerrietti Okay, so let me sum up your argument. "boo hoo evil feminists are always saying mean things about men how dare they". Did I get it right?

  • @DoJaenin ... Really ???

Are you serious ??? Is that what it is ???

"Evil feminists are always saying mean things about men" ???

Why would they do that ???

  • @avnerrietti I have absolutely no idea, you were the one who started talking about feminists waging war on men (or to quote you directly: "boo hoo my long list of privileges over the womenfolk got a little shorter how will I survive?")

  • @DoJaenin ...

Google: Thomas Ball's (self-immolation victim) Last statement sent to Sentinel

"The third wave of feminists ... the man-hating feminists who got us into this mess to begin with... what makes them so uniques is their anger towards men, any man. They are so twisted in their hatred of men that they are positively scary ... For 25 years these feminists at OVW have been willing to sacrifice the women and children to get you (the Man)... "

    – Thomas Ball 6/16-2001

  • @DoJaenin ...

There are stories in the Bible, starting with the very first story of Adam and Eve, that warn us Man of the Damage women can do. This Bible story links this directly to the Woman's Evil character.

What Feminism has done proves the truthfulnes of the Bible and demonstrates how Women can destroy with their lies and misrepresentations.

VAWA is a Federal legislation which grants $1.6 Billion to encourage False Accusations of DV and Rape - thus destroying Men and Families.

  • @DoJaenin ..

My "long list of privileges over women" comes from the fact that we, Men, work harder, think better, create, invent, build and understand complex issues better than Women !

That list of privileges over women cannot become shorter by Discriminatory Misandric legislations (VAWA).

The result of VAWA is that as soon as I realize a woman is unreasonable, which happens all the time, I must make her leave !

    - Women are worse off now, with VAWA and Feminism, then before.

  • @avnerrietti oh I bet women are *so* sad when you make them leave. Not being able to hear you say "boo hoo because of women I can't live in paradise and all these 3rd wavers are scaring me so much and there are just more and more women coming to my country, what will I do?" anymore is truly a prospect that would sadden even the most wicked and coldhearted of women!

  • @DoJaenin ...

Well... "I bet women are *so* sad when you make them leave" - I suppose they would be, otherwise they would not have come to stay with me in the first place.

Sorry... but I have no clue what you are talking about after that... would you care to explain?

    ---

... There is an epidemic of False Accusations of Domestic Violence, Abuse and Rape in this country.

False Accusations of Domestic Violence, Abuse and Rape must be Eliminated.

  • @avnerrietti trolling you would really be more fun if you were able to remember the things you have written a few hours beforehand :( although it's kinda fascinating how I always insult you yet you keep coming back for more, saying ridiculous things I can then make fun of without you realising it.

  • @DoJaenin ... Cont ...

Women can get pregnant, men cannot!

Women can milk babies, men cannot!

When a baby is born the baby needs his mother more that the father!

The women/mother need the man/father to provide for her and the baby!

It is best for the baby that his mother spend a lot of time with him/her during the first 3-5 years!

If the woman has a career, it is interrupted!

The man's career is not interrupted!
