A Jamieson Smile: "A Prayer of Hope": I wrote this Prayer. It's been read by Rabbis and Priests even by Neurosurgeons. I hope you enjoy the Spirit of faith and love.
"A Prayer of Hope": "Remember to do", not in vengeance, not in grudge but in justice & love.
"Remember to be" not in malice, not in hate, neither in wrongdoing, nor in wickedness
but in Spirit & truth.
So please, Dear God, Our Father, lead us not into temptation
What a great version of this song. She has a great and soothing voice. I was always a Seekers fan. As as side note I am Jewish but the way she sings this is just great.
Judith, I remember being a big fan of yours in the sixties and having most of your records, they've gone now, moving house three or four times etc but I've recently been introduced to you tube and I thought I'd look you up and see what I used to like all those years ago!
.
NOTHING since then has even got near your incredible sound and music,
If you believe in God, whatever name He may be given by your friends and your enemies, you know He gave Man poetry, literature, music, painting and all earthly arts for creating perfect beauty, and thinking and feeling, and tears, smiles and laughter for reaching eternity. And if you dont, you can still name God those talents and gifts.
So what?
Well, only a blessed handful of heart and soul thanks to Judith Durham, Athol Guy and the Seekers.
thanks to dazbluey for posting this song back in July - I listened to it regularly prior to that and then all of a sudden it disappeared with some of my other favorites.
Have been trying to figure which of the 2 versions she does is better. This one or the 2003 version. To be honest I cant choose,. While one is done as a gospel and the other as a jazz, both are performed with the utttermost perfection. Even with 37 years between them
The outstanding feature of the 2003 version is that it was live - no backroom boys to enhance the voice and no video to distract from the voice. For me Judith is never better than when she is singing live and every potential singer should watch and listen. There is no finer singer to learn from.
So warm and genuine. Indeed, Judith was the seller of the group, however, the guys were superb. Usually the last song hear before I go to bed. Gospel at its best.
I've always thought that 'Carnival..' was Judith's greatest moment. But when I first heard this a few weeks ago.........incredible vocal performance! She has upped to yet another level. Wow. Definitely the greatest female singer of all time.
@1953jamesh you're are right that, the first time i heard her singing [i'll never find another you] many years ago when i was just a boy i think my testicles dropped i've been in love withher voice ever since, never knew who she was or what she looked like until many years later but i'll never get her beautiful voice out of my head as long as i live
This world is yet to see and listen to a marvellous group like this. I wonder whether the present generation has the opportunity to listen to such glorious music!
My favorite gospel song just got better.

A Jamieson Reflection: Judith 1966! "As I walk let me walk close to thee,
dear Lord."
A Jamieson Note: To walk in (1) "loving kindness", to walk in (2) "love"
and to walk with (3) "a sound mind" is to walk with the Lord.
These are the Key Traits of Charity. "None but thee." Just a closer walk with thee." Let it be, dear Lord, O! Let it be."
May Judith Walk in the Comfort of the Lord,
forever, Amen.
With loving eyes & heart,
Jamieson (Peter)

One of Judith's finest moments as a vocalist. There are many....

She is truly something quite special as a singer, but I thought the instrumental backing lacked in this one, though the boys are usually Brilliant!
I still think Jimmie Rogers has the version on this particular song. His is just a wonderful recording.

I'm an atheist (or at best agnostic) but I dont think you have to believe in a God to appreciate a voice such as this - this is just wonderful.

I hope every one who hears this song will ask themselves how close they are to the Lord. God bless you all. Bill G.

She doubtless strengthened the faith of many, through this song alone. God bless you, Judith.

Brilliant. Another great rendition of this song is by Mahalia Jackson. It's on the tube somewhere too.
