what color is jour Class A? it looks black no offence or anything, our major tells us wea re getting the updated uni and i have yet to find anything on it.
also, just wondering what school you go to cuz my school was also one of the first schools in the nation to start the program in 1917. I believe we have held the honor unit w/ distinction the longest in the nation, 87 years or something. when CFI comes around our SAI and AIs get all freaked out cuz they think we might lose it for the first time XD
source for other post info: looking at the Cadet reference book now,and 3 yrs AJROTC experience
ok im a 2nd year cadet in air force jrotc and i just moved to an army jrotc and im trying to prepare my uniform for first inspection and i got a pin thing that has ROTC wrapped in feathers any idea where this would go i dont see it on your uniform which is why im asking
I dont know if you guys do it differently, but at my Jrotc program, gold star means HONOR UNIT WITH DISTINCTION which means that our high school and yours finished at the top 10% of all high schools according to participation and how well your unit is. Blue star means Honor unit which is the top 50%, and White star means merit unit Which is below 50%. If you guys do it by platoons then thats weird.
Hmmmm. My High School wears the brass ranks. It goes on the same thing (epaulate) centered from sides and lenght+Width. Good video on the other hand Ssgt.
@tbojanowski96 Yeah, most schools are different, ours is actually the longest running in the United States. This was my first video, which I have more out, you will just have to check my page. Ive seen schools with brass with sleeves with brass on collars on class b's and other ways (one school has ranks on the sleeve cuffs on dress blues) I think its mainly just what the cadre wants.
@SmootheTank No but I should 0.0 the variations of the name are great but the actual spelling Shumate is dirived from German archives....Its rare to find someone spelled just like that. Im related somewhere down the line im sure
Awesome guys! 2,360 and counting! You guys are great support and I am glad that I Can help in your pursuit in this. If you all look in my videos, you will see one with a acu backround, thats got info on my site. If everyone will check it out, I promice itll help! Thanks and HOOAH!
@lilgordo98 That is given if you are in the top 10% in grade of your class (JROTC). I have 3 hours of it for my senior year, but I have a staff position so 2 of them are for completion of special projects, ect. The top 10% (mostly students from anywhere with a 95%-100%) earns them. Also, check out my newest video. It has a link to my website that I made for questions like that and a personal forum I can contact you via email.
hey krazypyrokidd i have a question for u... actually several questions for u... first question: what is the uniform where u are wearing the short-sleeve green shirt? class B uniform right? and my next question is, do u have any videos on placement of ribbons, stars, arches, stuff like that? because i have no idea how to place anything on my uniform... btw im in the Army JROTC. if u have anything to help me out that will be greatly appreciated.
@hotshot461 Yes, the shirt, no tie, white under shirt and shoes is the class b. I actually posted a reply on here about my newest video, promoting my website I made. Check out the newest I have. Thats got ALL the uniform specs on it and eventually I will get video, but the website was the biggest obsticle in getting all the information perfectly to spec.
i believe your ribbons are off, they are suppose to be 1/4 of an inch above the pocket. thats just in my school. it might be different in your school. im an officer, can you make a video for a class A for officers? i need a video to show my classmates. thanks :)
@juniper1021 You are right, it is different. The 1/8 is in the new manual (many of the uniform specs are really different now, such as the unit crest being above the unit insignia v. being on the pocket flap below the unit insignia) and I do have a video of Officers, and if you would like I can make two more videos, a better of enlisted and a remake of my officer. Just let me know.
@juniper1021 Il tell you what, I just made a website that has everything. I will be happy to share the link, but Il have to send in a private message. Get back with me soon and Il give it to you
@bryan9274 Im not too sure on what you are wanting. Maybe give me some more details? And I got promoted to Captain, possibly more today so soon I will have a NEW review, with chords, brass, ribbond and the whole bit. That may answer some questions.
I'm class leader also, I haven't even gotten a rank though because its a new JROTC at our school. I would just like to say that this video helped....alot
Chords vary from side to side, depending the type (AE, NHS, Staff, Raider, Color Guard -in some corps-, Honor Guard and ect ect.) TOTALLY depending on which cord it is, depends where it will go. Most cases it is on the left side with your ribbons and any metals. However, I would consult with your cadres to determine where they allow it to go as not all corps have the same standards, programs and achievements.
I went to a competition in Bartow Fl and MOST of the schools had only Honor Unit and we were one of the only like 3 schools had the honor unit with destinction and one was us!
1/8 inch (below ribbons) centered on the pocket flap on the left side OR if they are arch pins still centered on left side but below pocket flap and centered on the inseam of the pocket itself (where the middle part stands up more)
ALSO: next year I will have your OFFICER jacket brass placement as well. IF you know anyone that needs the extra help with plcement this is where to come!
ok i want to join a jrotc unit at a school that is close to where i live. can i join another schools jrotc? because my school doesn't have one and i really want to be in it!
2. Talk to the supervisors and JROTC cadres and see what they can do for you
Those are the only two options you really have, and I would DEFINATLEY recommend the transfer if you want to join the military. Did you know for every 2 years in High School JROTC thats one grade promotion in the service?
Typically a Freshmen will get (NS, PVT, PFC and CPL) Sophomores will get (SGT, SSG, SFC and possibly MSGT) Juniors (Staff) can start anywhere from a 2LT to a 1LT and depending on the job (S-1,S-2,S-3,S-4 or S-5) will depend which. Seniors (staff) can revieve (CPT, MAJ, LTC)
Depending on the school, instructors and size, this may vary.
It took me until mid sophomore year at regular promotions (Quarter/Sem.)
@67goon I got Sergeant my Let1 Semester, Currently in my Let2 Semester ive gotten 1st Sergeant. 18 ribbons, 1 Drill competition ribbon. 1 arch. etc..It just depends on how much you do. But like myself, I am obsessed with JROTC. so unless your constantly doing it like myself you will prolly stick around Cpl after Let 1..and so on.
To be honest, I am not sure. I believe it is Academic, Conduct and Service. Im actually 100% on that. And as you progress in the program, definatley take a second glance at the cadet manual and see where the rest go. The revised booklet (newest one) will have all that information.
i actually found a website that tells you how it goes its academic then service then conduct the website is like rotc ribbon genorater or something but thanks anyway for your help sir
this is a general video because I am a c/CSM and we have a few different regulations. If you have any questions I can be reached on facebook. (mitchel delancey). My point is your unit may have different regulations so check in with your commander or a senior NCO and also check your SOP. See yawl at raider comp :)
Point I was making tho was that within the new revised cadet manuals (reference guide/book) this is the placement. Within different branches yes there should be alot of changes. But fellow Army branches should be if not exact, very close.
Well, your second ribbon is a LET service ribbon.... You know, being in the program for a while. Otherwise, no problems here.

K so i see some people confused and i hope i can help.
1. arc pins go on class a/ b. centered on the right pocket (if one) if more, center them 1/8" apart
2. gold star is earned through a couple of things- CFI, service hours, etc, and is earned for the whole brigade
3. the wreath with rotc insignia goes on the garrison cap, one inch from the edge and the bottom on the left curtain.

@Alejandr0TheGreat most schools are poor like mine, but still a gold star means your program is the best it can be. Blue is second best to gold.
