  • in 5 years everyone is like OH im running crysis at 300fps <.< lol GTX 780? 4gb gddr7 or sumthing like that

  • I want to know.

Are HD4870X2s Crossfireable? If that is the right terminology, I usually deal in Nvidia's cards. Crossfire is the equivalent of SLi, right?

Because that would be 4 cards. And awesome.

  • yep and yep

  • Excelent pc man, how much expencive that video card is? coz i ve a Phenom 8450 and to take all the power of this i need an ATI.. P

  • high - very high

  • i should play i think i have:

    gtx285 1gb

    e8400 (3.0ghz dual NO OC!!)

    4gb RAM

    1024x768

    Win XP

what setting should i be able to run smooth on?

    please reply

    :D

  • yes

  • at that resolution you should be able to play this game no problem at very high graphics.

  • high cause u have win XP

  • You can still play very high.

  • You can play everything maxed at 1920x1080 and you could get 60 FPS, well I think so because I can and I have a similar rig

  • damn m8 u should be able to play very high at a higher resolution than that! :P

  • Dual 4850's running through crossfire, i7-920 2.66 GHz... 3gb DDR3 At 900MHz..... i do very high everything, (No AA) but it studders.. not lagg, it studders really badly... anything wrong?

  • I have the same graphic cart but only 20 fps :(

  • Remember that he uses a Quad Core @ 3,4 Ghz each core. I have a Athlon Dual Core 3 Ghz each and that graphic-card: Unplayable, too !

Try to put settings as shadows and reflectations down. Then it will work a lot better

  • I have an E6600 (2.4 Mhz) and i play in 1920x1200.

So I need to buy a new processor, but I don't know if the best is a dual core or a quad core (E8500/i7 920). I can't overclock my processor because i have Packard Bell computer (shit).

  • You don't really need a quad core for that game. The average framerate would be maybe 5 fps fewer with a 3,4 Dual Core, is that worth the price ?

i7 processors doesn't fit on your board anyway.

Well, I would go for a high clocked Dual-Core and get an i7 when you really need it. By then it will be a lot cheaper, too !!

  • lol

  • ATI is a good graphic card .

    example? i have it

    blackshot with fx5500

    result:cant play

    backshot with ATI x1100

    result:smooth play

    o0o nvidia

fx5500 are expensice than ati x1100

  • yea... but you've picked an awefull Nvidia card -.-

c'mon even the FX5200 is better than the FX5500

    I had the 5500 :P

  • o ic

  • Dual 295s Whaaaahahahahaha

  • he doesnt recive 1680x1050 well because his screen is 2 small looks better on my system

  • xaxaxa :D

  • What power supply have you got?

  • What power supply have you got?

  • i feel bad for people with 4870x2, its a very bad card for crysis sorry ppl but it really is, you get way to low fps and all that

  • the 4870X2 is the fastest video card, ON BIG RESULUTIONS, let's say 1900*1200+

  • hehe, no. the gtx 295 outperforms 4870x2 at 1920 x 1200 by almost 20% and even 40% whe OC... you fail sir.

  • dude... noo... the 4870x2 is the best graphics card on the market. the only reason why the 295 gtx and/or other nvidia cards outperform the 4870x2 is because most games out there are designed for the nvidia chipsets. now if the games were designed for the ati chipsets, i bet the 4850 would outperform the best nvidia cards.... the newer ati cards have 800 shader cores, while the top of the line nvidia cards only have 32 to like 120ish. nVida is a joke fool. ATI is the best.

  • the 295 is faster on lower res and X2 is faster on higher res because it has GDDR5 memory

  • Comment removed

  • Your video card looks different than mine (both being an HD4870x2). I guess that's because I have Asus's model.

  • Hey man cool video, i'm building a pc jst like yours.

  • i have a problem with my 4870x2. I have Window Xp SP2 32 bit and it sais that i have only 1 gb ddram5...can anyone help me with a piece of advice?

  • it means the graphics card memory it should say like GDDR5 ram its graphics ram

  • thanks for the reply but i got vista 64 bit and the problem is solved

  • i dont think the human eye can even tell the difference between even 8xQ to 16... i barely even notice the difference between 4 to 8. so much blur and movement, so much destruction i can get a seizure. but still, HD4870 is incredible technology. im having fun with my GTX260, but just like ever i wish i werent such an NVIDIA bitch. next time i will buy an ATI card.

  • Yes we can, on HDTV's. The pixels are bigger so jaggies appear sooner. :DDD

  • Well a 4870x2 is pretty smooth at 1920x1200/Very High settings. Putting on tons of AA does bring it down, but it's still playable.

The trick is to get rid of all bottlenecks, as my friend who owns a 4870x2 had to overclock his Q6600 way up to 3.8GHz and he still gets framerate increases past that, but the overclocks aren't stable.

  • spec?

  • read the description =]

  • what psu are you using, i'm building a pc but not sure if 850watt will power 1hdd, dual core, 4 gig of ram and a hd4870x2

  • a corsair 750W TX would do the job just fine!

  • i no this is noob question but its ati right?

  • No, it's a Voodoo 3D.

  • You should buy better cpu-cooler so you can run that Q6600 even higher clocks. Cpu is pretty important on this game cause your GPU is killer ;) . So the bottleneck is your cpu and maybe ram. that GPU is awesome!

  • nice video, this is how everybody should record a benchmark.

However, 32 average fps is still too low :(((

  • R you forgetting what game this is or what!

  • whud my AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition 2,5GHz 8GB DDR2 800MHz 2 x HD 4870 512 MB DDR3 CROSSFIRE run crysis on very high 1920 x 1200 ?

  • rofl

joulupukki4oo1o stop showing off with ur rig!

  • jesus... i get same(or lower) fps with 1280*1024, NOAA, very high xp tweak, nice gpu ;)

  • corsiar ram?

  • Fraps kills your FPS.

  • jeah

  • Not sure if you would know, but would having 667mhz RAM compared to 1800mhz ram make a reasonable amount of difference? or will it just speed up loading times etc.?

  • How do you do thge Benchmark test?

  • I CANT SEE THE WORDS!!

  • to much noise you play with high volume

  • what catalyst drivers are you using ?

  • how much did this rig cost?

  • Hi.

    Camera is a Panasonic NV-GS250 3CCD.

  • Whats the lowest, average and max FPS if you take AA off? and VSYNC turned off?

  • True, it's your monitor.

  • turn off vsync... it makes it so that u can only go as high as ur refresh rate in fps...

  • Will any card be ever to handle 16aa 16ff?

  • yeh but i wonder how Crysis tested the game at that Level.

  • GTX 280 SLI handles 16xaa but not 16xaaq!

  • It does handle 16xQ.

  • whats the q stand for?

  • i did a bench for my comp and got 42fps average at 1280x1024 all high 8xaa =]

i know its not the best but im only 14 and paid for my comp =]

  • low res

  • lol

  • 32.285 average FPS :O

    Sweet video!

  • those are really good framerates considering you have 4xAA :D

  • 16xAF on or of ?

  • 16xAA don't work with ATI in crysis. Unless you force it through the control panel somehow. Try 8xAA in benchmark and then use 16xAA, frames average will be exactly the same.

  • I noticed that too..

I tried 16AA but the performance was too good to be true..

  • Try 16xq that is the big FPSkiller on all games

  • hey,can i put two 4870x2 whit crossfire?? the new video card of ati

  • I thought Vsync (i imagine thats whats been talking about) caps the fps at 60 max, providing it can get to 60 there shouldn't be any noticeable fps loss right?

  • the maximum amount of frames that you can get with vsync on, actually depends on your monitors refresh rate

  • yup and also have vsync on still makes ur fps slower than if it was off

  • Continue part 2:

But perhaps what i'm describing is a thing of the past now ?

  • Not really a thing of the past.

Most gamers will leave it turned off and put up with the tearing on the sccreen in a trade off for more frames. I personally like it turned on to get the best play experience possible.

I am happy if i can get 25fps on highest settings... This card lets me do that ! :-)

  • :Vulture: Hi, i did't know i would get replay on mail, i rarily check it :) anyways reason for turning off v-sync is beacuse it limits the cards performace in rather large fps chunks at a time, as far as i know from previus experiences with v-synch turned on if it drops from 60 to 59 v-sync drops it all the way down to 30, perhaps an extreme example, but in such cases it is not as easy to see the cards "true" performance in betwen these chucks of fps jumps.

  • Imagine this in... 4 Way SLI

    2*4= ABSOLUTE POWER!!!

  • SLI ?!?!?! what drugs you on dude? This is a X-Fire card..

  • Sorry I forgot i mean X-Fire

    If I Want tomorrow I could have 4 4870x2 but it's useless

  • Perhaps he is referring to OctaFire (four of these cards hooked together is possible according to AMD, but not with current drivers).

  • Cpu-limit man...

  • Possible... but what makes you say that ? Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz should be enough right ??

  • Yeah, enough for correct fps's and marks. But if U raise the cpu freq, you will got higher framrates/marks = cpu limit.

  • Kind of an abvious satement don't you think ? I just can't work out why you even bothered posting this...

  • Nice, but 1 crucial mistake, turn of V-Sync !

And u didt show the min fps only avg.

  • Why would you turn off VSYNC ?? If anything, it actually stengthens the power of this card.

VSYNC adds additional strain on the GPU which is the point of this video..

Also, VSYNC gets rid of tearing...

  • Nice card would you recommend it or is the game play stile sluggish?

  • All i can say is that i don't find it sluggish at all... If anything, even when the frames drop below 25 you really don't notice it.

In the past, i have tried the 3870's and sold them on eBay within a week of purchase.. These are nothing like the 3870's... MUCH MUCH MUCH better.

I also got rid of my 9800GX2 just before purchasing this card, and there is no way in hell that it would run Crysis with 4xAA

  • can you do a callofduty 4 video? in 1680x1050 with 4xAA without vsync on?

  • I'll try and do that in the next couple of days if my 3 little kids let me. lol

  • Done !!

  • Thanks for uploading this. Gives me an idea on how my system will run when i get this card in a few days.
