Dual 4850's running through crossfire, i7-920 2.66 GHz... 3gb DDR3 At 900MHz..... i do very high everything, (No AA) but it studders.. not lagg, it studders really badly... anything wrong?
I have an E6600 (2.4 Mhz) and i play in 1920x1200.
So I need to buy a new processor, but I don't know if the best is a dual core or a quad core (E8500/i7 920). I can't overclock my processor because i have Packard Bell computer (shit).
dude... noo... the 4870x2 is the best graphics card on the market. the only reason why the 295 gtx and/or other nvidia cards outperform the 4870x2 is because most games out there are designed for the nvidia chipsets. now if the games were designed for the ati chipsets, i bet the 4850 would outperform the best nvidia cards.... the newer ati cards have 800 shader cores, while the top of the line nvidia cards only have 32 to like 120ish. nVida is a joke fool. ATI is the best.
i dont think the human eye can even tell the difference between even 8xQ to 16... i barely even notice the difference between 4 to 8. so much blur and movement, so much destruction i can get a seizure. but still, HD4870 is incredible technology. im having fun with my GTX260, but just like ever i wish i werent such an NVIDIA bitch. next time i will buy an ATI card.
Well a 4870x2 is pretty smooth at 1920x1200/Very High settings. Putting on tons of AA does bring it down, but it's still playable.
The trick is to get rid of all bottlenecks, as my friend who owns a 4870x2 had to overclock his Q6600 way up to 3.8GHz and he still gets framerate increases past that, but the overclocks aren't stable.
You should buy better cpu-cooler so you can run that Q6600 even higher clocks. Cpu is pretty important on this game cause your GPU is killer ;) . So the bottleneck is your cpu and maybe ram. that GPU is awesome!
Not sure if you would know, but would having 667mhz RAM compared to 1800mhz ram make a reasonable amount of difference? or will it just speed up loading times etc.?
16xAA don't work with ATI in crysis. Unless you force it through the control panel somehow. Try 8xAA in benchmark and then use 16xAA, frames average will be exactly the same.
I thought Vsync (i imagine thats whats been talking about) caps the fps at 60 max, providing it can get to 60 there shouldn't be any noticeable fps loss right?
Most gamers will leave it turned off and put up with the tearing on the sccreen in a trade off for more frames. I personally like it turned on to get the best play experience possible.
I am happy if i can get 25fps on highest settings... This card lets me do that ! :-)
:Vulture: Hi, i did't know i would get replay on mail, i rarily check it :) anyways reason for turning off v-sync is beacuse it limits the cards performace in rather large fps chunks at a time, as far as i know from previus experiences with v-synch turned on if it drops from 60 to 59 v-sync drops it all the way down to 30, perhaps an extreme example, but in such cases it is not as easy to see the cards "true" performance in betwen these chucks of fps jumps.
in 5 years everyone is like OH im running crysis at 300fps <.< lol GTX 780? 4gb gddr7 or sumthing like that

I want to know.
Are HD4870X2s Crossfireable? If that is the right terminology, I usually deal in Nvidia's cards. Crossfire is the equivalent of SLi, right?
Because that would be 4 cards. And awesome.

at that resolution you should be able to play this game no problem at very high graphics.

You can play everything maxed at 1920x1080 and you could get 60 FPS, well I think so because I can and I have a similar rig

Remember that he uses a Quad Core @ 3,4 Ghz each core. I have a Athlon Dual Core 3 Ghz each and that graphic-card: Unplayable, too !
Try to put settings as shadows and reflectations down. Then it will work a lot better

You don't really need a quad core for that game. The average framerate would be maybe 5 fps fewer with a 3,4 Dual Core, is that worth the price ?
i7 processors doesn't fit on your board anyway.
Well, I would go for a high clocked Dual-Core and get an i7 when you really need it. By then it will be a lot cheaper, too !!

Cpu-limit man...
GAMETRAlLERS 3 years ago
Possible... but what makes you say that ? Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz should be enough right ??
vvulture 3 years ago
Yeah, enough for correct fps's and marks. But if U raise the cpu freq, you will got higher framrates/marks = cpu limit.
GAMETRAlLERS 3 years ago
Kind of an abvious satement don't you think ? I just can't work out why you even bothered posting this...
vvulture 3 years ago
Nice, but 1 crucial mistake, turn of V-Sync !
And u didt show the min fps only avg.
MeTube4D 3 years ago
Why would you turn off VSYNC ?? If anything, it actually stengthens the power of this card.
VSYNC adds additional strain on the GPU which is the point of this video..
Also, VSYNC gets rid of tearing...
vvulture 3 years ago
Nice card would you recommend it or is the game play stile sluggish?
lias87 3 years ago
All i can say is that i don't find it sluggish at all... If anything, even when the frames drop below 25 you really don't notice it.
In the past, i have tried the 3870's and sold them on eBay within a week of purchase.. These are nothing like the 3870's... MUCH MUCH MUCH better.
I also got rid of my 9800GX2 just before purchasing this card, and there is no way in hell that it would run Crysis with 4xAA
vvulture 3 years ago
can you do a callofduty 4 video? in 1680x1050 with 4xAA without vsync on?
