I'll never forget showing this video to my dad when this was on PBS. He was a B.B King fan and didn't know much about Buddy Guy. After he saw this he became a huge Buddy Guy fan! Makes me miss my dad. Met Buddy at Legends many years ago and told him that he was the reason I played guitar. He smiled that smile, then we drank....:)
Haha, imagine chillin in the park, bummin that you couldn't get good seats to see buddy guy, but happy enough to hear him live...than he comes walkin through the damn park playin the guitar.
I sometimes wonder if the audience knows how the wireless thing works when guitar player does the walk thing like this? Maybe some think that he is using a backing track and not actually playing?
I was at this concert, front row just off center stage. I still have a guitar string that Buddy handed me when he broke it. I also got a pick that BB King gave me at the end of his set. Talk about good seats!
Crowd seems subdued due to humidity and the fact that it was an all-afternoon, all-evening bluesfest and you can only be so wild for so long.
I do recall Buddy apologized to the crowd once during the show for being hungover but it was a great set.
Buddy is the man no body does this shit anymore. HE is the King of Entertainment. To many Rock bands think they are the shit and forget this part of the business.
I see the Bassman in the back ground but also a MArshall Head looks like a plexi maybe JCM 800. I can't see Buddy using a Marshall? Probably the opening act or the next act.
is this song actually called knock on wood coz ive been looking for the tab and i cant find it some one help me and iam new to blues guitar and i want to learn some easy songs/riffs
a good tip is that, for blues guitar you dont use tabs=) if you wanna learn a few licks to get started listen to records, and if thats hard search up Skydog46
uh yes, tabs are really really helpful for young guitarists. If you don't have any knowledge how the hell can you transcribe this, i mean good lord be realistic. If you use a lot of tabs you eventually walk against transcribe riffs which you can use in you own improv
Ive only got into the blues recently. i was first listening to 'pop-blues' (john mayer) which pointed me to 'blues-rock' (SRV and Clapton) then Ive went on to listen to'blues' Buddy Guy, BB King, Albert King, Albert Collins and Freddie King. Could some real blues fans tell me wat i sud listen 2 nxt?
listen to some jazz-blues next - Jimmy Smith, Ray Charles, Deanna Bogart, Maceo Parker....and some contemporary blues like Shemekia Copeland, Tab Benoit
Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Son House, Charley Patton, Booker White, Robert Johnson, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, T-Bone Walker, Blind Willie Johnson, Tampa Red...The list goes on!
Try some acoustic delta blues, and slide blues, riff blues (John Lee Hooker), and try some Hendrix; look up Voodoo Chile blues, not Voodoo Child slight return, although that is good too, Machine gun with Hendrix and the band of gypsies for some funkier blues. maybe then some New Orleans jazzier/carribean blues It's all good man, cause it's all the blues!
One of the best Blues Bands I have seen: Buddy Guy, Scott Holt on Guitar, Greg Rzab on Bass, and Ray "Killer" Allison on Drums - all of them are PHENOMENAL musicians
love this mans soul born to perform
