I like troy but if i had to play aginst either reed r troy if im the qb or cordinator im gona rather play reed causetroy can not cover at all compared to reed i mean troy got picked apart in the super bowl hes a better linebacker than a safty
Sorry I gotta disagree with this. Reed and Polamalu can be argued back in forth all day long. But I'd give the upper hand to Polamalu just because of his versatility and instincts are far superior than Reeds. After those 2 Nick Collins is # 3. He is the 2nd best free safety in the game with Reed being the # 1 Free Safety in the game today.
@ttrain5450 Sorry but i gotta disagree with you. Reed had 8 ints in 10 games so ima say his instincts are better, though he may not be as great against the run, he can still hit. Now polamalu sometimes messes up in coverage like in the super bowl he allowed an easy touchdown catch an he was like 10 yards away from his zone. Polamalu and reed are both superb safeties, but i gotta give the notch to reed. And nick collins is pretty good and i could see him at #3 too.
There is no way Reed's instincts are better than TP. I understand his poor showing in the Super Bowl, but TP was not even at 100%. Maybe he shouldnt have played. Reed is good at coverage. But overall no way he is better. TP is one of the greatest players to ever step on a football field. And I am not even a Steelers fan. Did you see his play against the Titans and the Cleveland Browns? I have never seen anyone make a play like that ever. Not even Reed.
@ttrain5450 Reed got more ints in 6 less games. Thats due to instincts. And reed has made many amazing plays that include the longest int return td. Polamalu is one of the best ever ill agree with u,but reeds got the notch in 2010
That's great in all. But one they both play 2 different positions. One's a SS and the other is a FS. If the Steelers didnt freelance Polamalu and had him stay back in covereage dude would be getting double figure picks all day. But he does so much more and is versatile. Reed hangs back in coverage 85-90% of the time which makes him get picks easier. Thats why they describe him as a centerfielder. Are you a Ravens fan?
That's not really instinctive. He is just in the right place at the right time. You can't teach the things Polamalu does. Dude is a freak. Polamalu helped them beat the Ravens week 13 last year.. The offense couldnt do nothing against the Ravens and look who showed up to pretty much win the game. Polamalu came up and forced the fumble on Flacco and Woodley picked it up and almost scored. That setup Pittsburgh to score their only td of the game resulting in the win.
@ttrain5450 It's instinctive if you do it time and time again for several years. And i might say that polamalu may be more of a game changer, but all in all reeds a tad bit better
ed reed is also a way better secondary than darrelle revis
