@BigNickGK Well, CAPCOM "is" trying their best to put in the most requested characters while at the same time putting their own personal choices. It's very difficult to create even one character as the game is on 3D, meaning all the characters were from scratch. So CAPCOM might not be able to put as many like in MvC2 in time for it's release.

I just realized. Their has been concern that the ESRB has been censoring trailers due to some bullshit regulation about not liking people on fire, But in this trailer, you see Arthur cover Hulk in blue flames, the Magneto covered in blue flames scene in Episode 3 that got cut out in the English version, Dormammu blasting someone with Chaotic Flame, and Chris covering the Hulk in flames from the RPG explosion.

Captain America and Felicia are both Americans. Cap is an icon while Felicia aspires to be one

Spider Man and Wesker are both mutates with power in scientific fields.

Viewtiful Joe and Dormammu use fire powers and their powers are tied to dimensions

Etc etc.

@kaihedgie Thats ignoring the fact both Viewtiful Joe and Dormammu were revealed together as were Spiderman and Wesker. In fact had the reveals gone like originally planned, Viewtiful Joe would have been revealed along with She-Hulk (but she wasnt really ready yet but Dormammu was). Meanwhile Felicia/Capt were revealed together because they were both revealed along with Ryu/Wolverine/Deadpool/Dante etc etc but were not included in the Ep1 trailer.

@kaihedgie Pretty flimsy reasoning really. I still say they are set out by introduction as every single character is there with the character they were revealed side-by-side with. I mean you then get X-23/Tron, neither have anywhere near a similar playstyle/backstory/moveset/lo­ok. In fact they have nothing in common other than X-23 has a 'metallic' sort of skeleton and Trons mech suit is mechanised and made of metal which is again, paper-thin reasoning.

@jamesbuc The reasoning may seem flimsy to you, but in case you haven't been aware, all of those pair-ups have been confirmed to be rivalries, whether the rivalries are straight-forward, or very obscure. Here are some examples: Straight-Forward rivalries Wolverine/Ryu Deadpool/Dante Storm/Crimson Viper Thor/Amaterasu Obscure rivalries She-Hulk/Zero X-23/Tron Super Skrull/Trish

@DdrmaniacmaN Im pretty sure that isnt the case and that hasnt been something that has been confirmed by anyone important. If you look, every duo bar the first release bunch were revealed together (Say at Comic-Con or Jump Fiesta). You also miss the point that Dormammu wasnt supposed to be revealed when he was and it was instead supposed to be She-Hulk but she wasnt ready, Dormammu was.

Plus there hasnt even been any sort of 'Rivalries' system announced at any point.

@boogityboy Thing is, that wouldn't make any sense from a business standpoint. If Capcom decided to delay the game, not only would it cost them a lot more money to continue development on the core game, but now they can't make any money on DLC either because it would all be on disk already. They're a business. They're out to make as much money as they can so they can grow just like ALL businesses. Maybe that's a new concept to you? If so, that's the way the world works. Deal with it.

It's pretty easy to tell that the characters are Crimson Viper and Storm. Where it says more is the same expression of C. Viper's at the end of Episode 3 and you can also see Storm's mouth and skin tone where it says characters.
