@guitarplayerforu there was a hollywood hotel and something like this did happen however not as drastic the top got struck with lightning and the hotel lost power for a couple of days and the electrical wiring could never be fixed like it originally was so they closed the hotel & the tv show Twilight Zone made it into this big thing that got everyone scared and then eventually Disney made this ride and it is one of the top 5 rides ridden each year in the United States with WDW and Disneyland

the guy working with my group was hilarious when it would go dark he would pop up in a different part of the room and he smiled all creepy at us and it was my birthday he's like well it better have been the best one cuase it's your last then sent us on the ride

awesome. I remember when I first saw this I was like "I have to go on it looks like so much fun." so the next time I was at Disney with my dad and a friend we went on it and I got so scared I didn't want to go on again but my friend did so she went on while me and my dad waited for her (I was about 10 or something when I first went on). and Now its one of my favorite rides :D!

i remember watching this commercial in the special features of The Incredibles (before i rode the ride) and i told myself "I AM NEVER GOING ON THAT RIDE!!" That was when i was like 8. I've rode it now and its AWESOME! the commercial is EPIC btw xD
