  • r they 8.1 liters?

  • these would be great for a pick up truck.. j. deere builds some great engines...

  • What kind of liquid comes out exhaust?

  • John deere has a factory marine engine line from 80-750bhp, JD are extremely reliable and very fuel efficient for hp ratings.... I know a commercial charter captian w/ 3 65' custom boats in Fourchon, La, and he has all 3 powered w/ twin 375's. He swears by them, and he has been in the business for 30+ yrs...

  • fuck the boat put them in a truck

  • Is that water coming out like... boiling hot? :O I've always wondered that.

  • @RocketRodder No the water is not hot at all. Maybe after a long run it might be warm but not hot..

  • @Goodstuff989 I am assuming that there is a heat exchanger on the engine and that works on hotter water exchanging heat to the colder water so while the discharge will never boil it will get warm about 45 deg C

  • @RocketRodder slightly, the water is used for cooling the piston and cyliner liner

  • purrs like a kitten

  • That serpentine belt tensioner is SHOT! Nice engine though.

  • thoes would be cool in a truck!!!!!

  • WHY WOULD YOU PAINT A DEERE SO IT LOOKS LIKE A CAT? JUST ASKIN... ;o)

  • I don`t care what people think ...Deeres are TUFF!

  • This is a tractor engine am i right?

  • @bengo76 No these are twin diesel engines for a very large boat.

  • it is the same sound in ours John Deere 3140:)

do u know if it is the same motor?

  • its the cooling system

  • what do you want for this motor and what is the rpm max

  • Wow that sounded nice! Havent seen to many Deere's in marine apps., but in sure they work great as they do in tractors!

  • i have the same engine in my 32` lobster boat, great on fuel...

  • excelent engine wath cost.

  • good old john deer old motors never die

  • hahahaha ive rebuild like 6 john deere's in less than 5 months.... they are the engine that we see at the shop the most lol but they're not bad i guess for a harvester engine lol

  • Most of the time engines need rebuilt because when they get old and a little hard to start people really pour the ether to 'em and melts pistons

  • very true but most of the engines that i've rebuilt didnt have that many hours on them compaired to other engines and they were just plain worn out.

  • Some idiots don't know the engines have break-in oil in them and they don't get in a big hurry to change oil anyway. That'll cause problems. I've been into deere engines with 5 or 6 thousand hours for head gaskets and stuff, but you can still see the cross hatch on the cylinder walls

  • yeh had that a few times as well ... or not leavin the run in oil in longenough. ive had to rebuild several at about 10,000 hrs and they're just worn out( not a long service life) ive also done several head gaskets on isuzu engines in the same type of machines with 10,000 hrs and gone for another 10,000 hrs before they need a majour overhaul. 6101's mainly.

  • congrats man that thing runs good

  • Thanks! We wish we had more of these. They are just about bullet proof.

  • lol

  • This might be a dumb question, but is that water commin outta the exhaust? If so, why?

  • water cooled exhaust ... wet exhaust.... very comon on marine engines

  • Inline-6 single turbo diesel engine.

    Great sound.

  • amen 2 that brother.

  • These are twin engines. Each visdeo has a different engine.

  • what kind of boat are you going to put it in

  • We sold these 2 engines to a man from the New Orleans area. They are going in his dream fishing boat. Not sure what that is. They came out of a 55-foot-long mahogany boat called the Hocus Pocus out of N. Carolina.

  • looks more like a single turbo
