hmm.. maybe you are confused.

i CAN talk.. i am Hearing, not Deaf. however, just because someone cannot talk does not mean that it is a sad thing. Deaf people are very proud of their heritage and their Culture. it is not "sad" that they are Deaf. they are proud.

also, Deaf people CAN talk. some just choose not to. and it might not sound like the way you talk, but just because someone is Deaf does not mean that they cannot speak.

Sorry, yeah... well, people should know better because it's 2009, soon it'll be 2010... technology is way beyond, and more and more people are getting well known, the cultures have changed, and stuff like that -- i mean, they should understand by now and not making a big deal out of it... i understand Deaf world is smaller but I just wish people would recognize Deaf people and our culture too..

there are degrees of Deafness.

some Deaf people CAN hear bits and pieces of songs, some can hear the tune, and just not the words, and some can just feel the beat of the bass, etc.

just because someone is labeled as "Deaf" does not mean that they cannot hear anything.

hopefully that clears the air and makes everyone happy.

I subscribed to you. I think that what you do is amazing. I never thought of how music videos on youtube aren't that beneficial to the deaf community because they can't hear what they're seeing until I found these ASL-interpreted songs. My husband is hard of hearing and I'm attempting to learn sign language so that I can communicate with him and watching these videos is a great way for us to talk about it and for him to explain the signs to me to help me learn better. I've been learning sign language for a little less year, I'm still learning a lot, but do you have any good exercises for fingerspelling that you'd recommend? I'm still pretty slow.

what helped me is to fingerspell road signs as im driving. :)

and also, try and fingerspell songs.

i know it sounds difficult, but just do as much as you can.

and another way is to fingerspell the first letter of every word of a song.

for instance : "get ready, get set, dont go"

you'd fingerspell "GRGSDG"
