  • Erm... What about the classics?! (2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris, Enemy Mine, Terminator, Close Encounter of the Third Kind, Contact etc.) What about those transcending entertainment into phenomenon? (Star Trek, Stargate, The Matrix etc.) It surprises me how many titles are NOT on this list, and not even mentioned... I realize how difficult it is to pick only ten from the lot of them, but still...

  • Every list i looked at this guy did has major missing classics and all though its this guys list and his opinion....IMO he has missed out or scored low some of the best movies ever made.

sci fi ...2001 was a groundbreaking movie in sci fi and set the bench mark for such movies as starwars...and blade runner at 8 ...crazy.

In another list shawshank redemption is 7th in the list...

And Godfather being at 8 and being describe as not as much fun....godfather 2 did`nt even make the list...

  • have you ever heard of 2001 a space odyssey

  • when you grow up ,you'll pick blade runner as #1

  • The narrator sounds totally stoned!!!!!

  • Actualy, Star Wars IS sci-fi because it fits the definition. Sci-fi is when there is an idea of technological advanses that takes place in a diferent time period/ planet/ galaxy, etc. SO HA!!!

  • Star wars isnt scifi no matter that non-scifi fans want to define it as that. It's sci-fantasy. A great genre but a completely different one. Scifi takes scientifically based ideas and extrapolates on them. Sci-fantasy is character drama in a world with different/more advanced etc technology

  • Contrary to popular belief Sci-fi fans are a lot smarter than the mainstream gives them credit for....

  • Star wars episode 3 was terrible

  • alien on 7?????

that sucks! alien is made in 1979! at that time they made those realistic monsters!!! and ET sucks!!!!!

  • robocop better than bladerunner lol funny guy.

  • ARE U DRUNK???

  • i cant belive that robocop and E.T are in there ! interesting choices O_o

    dude nice title screen btw

  • @rollasheep Thanks...I still can't believe those were some of my first videos.

  • WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!??? YOU HAVE THREE STAR WARS IN YOUR LIST!!!! WHERE THE FUCK IS TERMINATOR 2 YOU BASTARD?????

  • @longlivestalin1 In my Top 10 Action take a look before you namecall!

  • Thumbs up. Thanks for this video!

  • what the fuck is a tidbit

  • the star wars prequals sucked

  • why dont you just rate star wars as the complete saga?, then it would be defo No.1 lol

  • Wow. You're the only video of this kind I've seen that had "A Clockwork Orange" in it! Thumbs up!

  • missing Jurassic Park. See it. It's pure awesomeness bottled, carbonated and exploded all over Steven Spielberg's brain.

  • the empire strikes back is prolly the best movie ever made

  • Your List is cool because it flips so much, and allot is left of, but some odd ones are on...

  • Total Recall: 7/10, Blade Runner: 8/10, Alien: 8/10, Star Wars Episode 3: 2/10, Star Wars Episode 4: 6/10, The Prestige: 7/10, Star Wars Episode 5: 6/10

  • thanks for putting in a clockwork orange :)

  • Prestige... a sci-fi flick? Most def not dude

  • hahaha no James Cameron movie

  • i new episode 5 was # 1 becuase every on loves it and to all you peeps who hate star wars suck my coc.....k

  • once again @sondano i already said the original three touch the heart in a way few movies come to realize. i mean how can you even "hate" on the original saga. It is truly an epic for the times, im actually gonna watch all three movies just to fuckin spite your dumbass for thinking they arnt worth it, and even show them to people who havnt seen them. STAR WARS IS THE MAD FUCKING NOOCH. IF YOU AGREE GIVE ME COMMENTS THE THUMBS UP

  • @LarryBogary Thumbs up!!! The original Star Wars trilogy is a timeless untouched masterpiece that will forever remain a enduring classic. In a hundred years from now this movie will still hold it's own against other sci movies. And just think- a lot of movie critics at the time of the release of A new hope in 77 told George Lucas that Star wars would fail and be a public embarrassment to Lucas

as a director. Well we all know now who is getting the last laugh!!!!!

  • Everything was good on that list except for the overrated Clockwork Orange. You should've chosen Kubrick's other classic 2001: A Space Odyssey!

Also, The Prestige has Fantasy elements but is overall more of a Mystery-Thriller so I would take that off the list & replace it with something like Terminator 2: Judgment Day or Minority Report.

Last of all, you should've put one Star Wars movie on there just to be fair. Keep Empire Strikes Back & replace Ep.3 & 4 w/ V for Vendetta & Superman 2

  • bollocks...

  • YOU ARE SICK

  • I like Star Wars but it's not sci-fi at all. It's a fairy tale with special effects nothing more. I like it but would pick any Star Trek movie over Star Wars in a new york minute after all Star Wars cannot be taken seriously it's a cute but incredibly dumb story

  • Notice the "Comment removed by author" on your previous comments?Clearly the author of this video and i do not share your views....now leave us true sci-fi fans alone and go watch neverending story.

  • by the way Lucas himself said it's fairy tale so your point is? It was never meant to be other than that

  • Comment removed

  • You are idiot.

  • haha... that pick.. it's a balls out film:D

  • 2001: A Space Odyssey should be on the list, even at nr 1 or 2

    Where is it?

  • Star Wars is great movies some of the best

  • lol...Star Wars episodes 1,2 and 3 fail...The animated movie of the clone wars is awesome

  • The Star Wars movies do have a great story to tell but suffer from bad acting on many occasions. Great Story , but some of the acting was pretty bad. My favorite movie (I guess this kid never seen it yet) is Close Encounters of The Third Kind. It's a great sci-fi movie without being too "out there". I like how there is a mystery to solve that does not reveal itself till near the end. Just a good movie. Star Wars is close behind it though.

  • Can't belive people think there are better movies than star wars. I agree the Alien is a great film but Star Wars just blows everything out of the water.

  • i Agree with you, starwars has no competition, its just hard for some people to understand it fully

  • Comment removed

  • are you kidding me? where´s 2001: a space odyssey? for those who find it so hard to understand.> number 1: it was because of this movie that star wars could even exist(lucas´s concept of space can´t be considered as original in any way, especially when you see millenium falcon travelling at the light speed) concept taken from the journey to infinite of 2001.

    2. sci-fi is made apparently for those who go to see movies as if you were teenagers ,such as lucas or spielberg

  • Guess what Star Wars is now real....George Lucas travelled into the future and witnessed "Star Wars " then he came back and made a movie....

  • in the future? "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away." yeah right that's in the future Star Wars is as much sci-fi as The Neverending story. Both are just fairy tales -- and Star Wars is the dumber one of those two tales. The fact that there are space ships and creatures with weird heads and limbs in it will not make it sci-fi.

  • @sondano dont bash the trilogy man

  • I don't bash it I just think it's not science fiction and the story is dumb. Otherwise I like it. It's cute. At least ep. 1 ep 4,5 and 6. ep 2 and ep 3 suck they are dark and despressing

  • @sondano how can you think ep 2 and 3 are dark and depressing without thinking that episode 5 is dark and depressing. The whole thing ends on a down note. I mean im almost forced to think about if youve ever even seen the series. I didnt even want to begin with that fact that you thinks it dumb, granted if u thought the newer 1-3 trilogy is dumb thats fine i suppose. but to think the TRUE the REALY trilogy is dumb is retarded, that one was all about things i think we all hold close to the heart.

  • You idiots who say Star Wars is not sci - fi does not know what sci - fi means and hence are not sci - fi fans.Stop confusing yourselves.

  • I'd like to see a movie made out of post-human. You can watch a book trailer on here though that is pretty good called post-human book trailer fast version

  • They need to make a movie where aliens arnt bugs with the primal instinct to multiply they piss me off why cant they be super inteligent

  • ENOUGH OF THE STAR WARS yes its a good movie but there are so many better ones

  • stars wars shouldnt be on here i agree, good movie but no. Also, aliens should be higher rated because it is indeed a masterpiece.

  • Thank you, Comicsbud....fantasy all the way. Shame on anyone for not voting "2001" number one.

  • Well.... BigDickMcGirk, my reaction to 2001 was ..... I deeply detested it. The music choice was horrible and the movie had no coherent storyline. This movie felt as if it was artificially edited to shreds to manke it nonsensical at purpose. You didn't understand it and neither did anyone else, because it was not meant to be understood. Never shold a Waltz be used for something as nice as a space station ...just horrible. All i can grant is that it was well made in terms of filmmaking art..

  • tom i have to say not only are the 3 star wars movies a waste of space on this list because they are fantasy but i also have to say that 2001 a space odyssey was left out if youve never seen it you should check it out its a classic kubrick film and a great sci fi example of a perfectly crafted film i dont know why its not on the list but its certainly my fav

  • Look it up, please! Star Wars is fantasy....Lucas said so himself. It straddles genres sure, but at its heart, it's FUCKING FANTASY!

  • You're correct, Star Wars is a fantasy film. Just because the setting is space doesn't make it sci-fi. It even starts with a variation of "once upon a time"!

  • And the magic would The Force...

  • Fantasy, for the most part takes place in the past...."A long time ago..." and Lord of the Rings fits this...Harry Potter breaks that convention, but is still fantasy.

Star Wars is fantasy because it doesn't depend on the space ships or technology to tell the story. Take out the hardware you could tell that same story as a western. It fits more closely to that than science-fiction. I'm not making this up, please research and you will see I'm correct.

  • actually, Star Wars is considered a space opera film, which is a subgenre of science fiction, therefor Star Wars is science fiction

  • Star Wars is fantasy. Know your genres before speaking about them. "Lord of the Rings" is fantasy.

  • No. Star Wars is indeed sci-fi: You have spaces ships, faster than light travel, energy weapons etc.

    Akin to Star Trek.

Lord of Rings is indeed fantasy, without any doubt whatsoever.

  • Star Wars is very light on the Sci Fi to be fair, more "hard"sci fi actuall has more seirous issues dealt with in more depth than a knight and a princess defeats an generic evil empire, social or ethical problems in a fictional context.

  • Hardcore or not, that is irrelevant. Star Wars is clearly sci-fi.

  • I dont know what is wrong with these stupid people...they clearly are not sci-fi fans to even think Star Wars is not sci-fi.

  • star wars is science fiction because for one thing science fiction has to do with technology and stuff like that and fantasy has stuff to do with magic and star wars is very technology like and there is no magic in it at all so how is it a fantasy, its freaken science fiction

  • Learn how to spell! Stop writing with numbers and abbreviations...fucking retards.

  • Star Wars IS NOT sci-fi! I love it, but its fantasy.

  • your an idiot

  • Shut your cunt!

  • empire strikes back is an amazing star wars movie

  • Totall Recall is funny, violent ja cool.

Blade Runner is pretty cool and Rutger Hauer is super.

Robocop is super, I like it.

Alien is classic, but it is not so, cool.

    E.T is worst Sci-fi I've ever seen!!!

    Clockwork Orange, sci-fi, I don't think so, I don't even like this.

SW3, cool, it is good. Christensen is bad, McGregor is very talented.

New Hope, cool, it is good, legend.

Prestige is not so good. Hugh Jackman is best. I don't like ending, it is bad.

    Not suprise, good choice. Legendary.

  • of course A Clockwork orange is sci fi, just cause its not in space doesn't mean its not sci fi, perhaps you don't really know what sci fi is.

  • im glad u put total recall on da list. BladeRunner is also a film dat i need 2rewatch so i can soak it up betta. U bring alot of movies dat can also delve n2 otha genre lyk Robocop which i believe can also B consider a action flic. Alot of people belive Alien 2B a horror flim, ET was just boring 2me. I know clockwork had a brian washing scene but does dat make it really sci fi? Ur on crack for revenge of the sith, EPISODE ONE IS THE BEST. & once agian da Prestige can be considered a drama

  • um do you know there were decades before the 70's

  • I do know this and have seen plenty of films before the 70s...they just don't make my top 10 because this is a list of my FAVORITES...not best ever made. BTW, Wizard of Oz is in my favorite fantasy video.
