  • If it is not a "rebranding effort", perhaps the party should just be renamed to the Publican Party. The Republicans seem to get so much joy calling their opponents the Democrat Party rather than the Democratic Party, we ought to drop two letters from their name too. BTW, one definition of a Publican is PIMP. I think it fits them just fine.

  • i love how the gop suddenly wants to talk about the problems of the country

i don't remember them having this listening and open spirit when they ran things. i remember when they ran things they would simply controll the power they held the way they saw fit.

what a bunch of hypocritical dishonest nonsense.

  • He wants to have a conversation with the American people. Like Hillary? Hmmmm.

  • he is a faker! His forehead creases up with feigned sincerity everytime he makes an argument. His eyes have a glint of mirth in them as if he is laughing about pulling a trick on us. He is trying to bamboozle the public into believing the GOP will stop serving big oil, big weapons, big corporations etc because a few citizens turn up to a town hall meeting or an internet chat. I don't believe you!! Faker!

  • This dude is gay right?

  • TedInLasVegas

wants "good medicine and not socialized medicine"..

Hey Ted, .. Why do the people with socialized medicine among the G20 have longer life expectancies and lower infant mortalitiy rates than do U.S.-born citizens?

  • So what hes saying is, its about trying to convince the people that the GOP is really for the people and not just there to help their rich friends like it has for so many years. Yeah right just because you lost now you want to be for the people . Maybe you should have thought about this 30 years ago.

  • This guy is about to be the last man on the sinking ship of republican policies!

  • The conservatives have dug their grave, I think its time they lie in it.

  • He talks of forums and discussion groups--ostensibly all moderated by their ilk to suit their agenda--the DemoPubs (the same 2 shit parties). Wake up Independent candidates. The power is right here and now. It's called: "Read the you-Tube comments." If you want to know where the new voice of democracy is then READ the comments section. WE, driven by the younger tech-crowd, are the loud voice that will grow louder. Make comments--SHOUT IT--here, everywhere.

  • It seems as though the republicans are suffering from a serious lack of imagination.

  • Go sour grapes! Go hate machine! Go fear mongers! Go ignorant minority! Go American Taliban! Go Republicans!

  • When the revolution comes I will see to it that Michael Steele gets a fair and impartial 15 minute military tribunal trial.

  • The party of Know-Nothings is rebranding! You've heard of Coke Zero, now try Republican Zero

    Featuring:

    Zero substance!

    Zero clue!

    &

Zero chance of winning in 2010 or 2012!

Republican Zero. Oblivious to the nation since 1980!

  • 8 YEARS in power

They did ZERO for health care

    They did ZERO for education

    They started an optional war

  • Where in the constitution is the AUTHORITY to do something for health care?

Where in the constitution is the AUTHORITY to do something for education?

The war started in 1948; we just opened a new battlefield.

  • If you don't want health care, don't get it. The rest of us would like to be able to get medication. Don't like education, go live in the hills and home school your fucking bastard kids. The rest of us would like well equipped and to par schools and colleges for ourselves and our kids.

  • That's not the point, you simplistic fool.

The point is that I want GOOD medicine, not socialized medicine.

I want GOOD education, not public school indoctrination into lies and misrepresentation.

  • re: TedinLesVegas

==The point is that I want GOOD medicine, not socialized medicine.==

    They aren't proposing socialized medicine.

    They are proposing socialized Insurance.

Something private sector companies like AIG have failed massively at.

  • And you think the D'ohBama is going to somehow do what AIG already proved is not possible.

  • re: TedinLasVegas

==And you think the D'ohBama is going to somehow do what AIG already proved is not possible.==

Well considering we're paying on average 2.5x more for medical service than any other developed country, yeah, I do think we can do a better job.

  • re: TedinLasVegas

==And you think the D'ohBama is going to somehow do what AIG already proved is not possible.==

Actually ironically, that's exactly what Republicans are arguing.

That it would be so effective, that it would outcompete the private sector.

  • Cantor the NUTCASE.

He is like the small town sewer - full of SH*T!!!!!!

  • LOL...GOOD ONE!!

  • Is it just me, or does this Guys' hair never move? Is it a helmet?.. Plastic?....Covered in Newts' dried spunk?

  • Funny, he keeps shacking his head as if to say no Im lying don't believe me. All while spinning the spin of the spin with a grin.

  • we will learn how to use the internet so we can attract the american people

  • "Republican principles of freedom and opportunity." Whoa, you're getting a little too technical for me there, Eric!

  • re: fishhead06

    Lemme translate that for you

Solutions for today's problems that involve less regulation, and more money for the people who already have the most money.

    It's is a rebranding, it's Robber Baron Capitalism v2.0

  • Republican principles of freedom and opportunity: If you don't share their principles, you have the freedom and opportunity to leave the country.

  • nice shoutout to the internet. kiss ass

  • Comment removed

  • Now they are using Obamas method of listening to the people. Republicans had 8 years to do this. Its too late now.

  • .. yep changing your name doesn't make you the same person anymore.

My name is sexy perfect guy from now on. Now all the women will flock to me and offer me sex and grapes. Of course, I'll throw away my sour grapes instead of give them to Democrats like Republicans do.

  • Oh man, I was going to change mine to sexy perfect guy...

  • I am Eric's total lack of substance.

  • Eric Sphincter, R-VA.

  • when did Steven Colbert change his name?

  • weasel

  • with all respect, he is VERY effeminate - if the GOP wants to get ahead of the gay marriage debate, he could be their man

  • Fail! GOP ftl

  • I think this is a great plan. You all go off and have your little get-togethers.

Meanwhile the adults will run the country.

  • Exactly, Jesus would want to help those with no health care instead of spitting on them "get up yourself, who cares if you have cancer"

  • This would be a good idea if Cantor wasn't just using this as window dressing for the fact that Republicans don't want to change their ideas and just want to repackage them in different mediums. A shitty idea is still shitty whether it is twittered or done in a smoky back room.

  • What ever happened to the basic belief of the Republican Party, that every citizen has the fundamental right to chose for themselves....?

And how much bigger did the govt grow in the last 8 yrs?....it pretty much shot down their arguement for lesser govt.....!

  • Internet media? Town-hall meetings?? Cantor in April, 2009, is starting to sound like Obama in February, 2008... which is kind of like PC's trryyiing to be a whole lot like Mac's... but really, really NOT. Good luck with that.

  • hmmm, his speech is sort of, hm, hypnotic. zzzzzzzzzz

  • Didn't that already happen during the 2 year election season? Or are you only talking about right-wing extremist Americans?

  • He's kind of effeminate. Isn't this the guy who went to the Brittney Spears concert? LMAO!

  • does he have parkinsons?

  • This is the message of the book "Grand Theft, Jesus." I doubt many Christians read it though.

  • Egon?

  • win

  • Le Douche

  • Wouldn't people looking for 'freedom and opportunity' simply switch to the Libertarian Party? The Republicans want government to stay out of business, but keep control over marriage, drugs and anything tagged 'family values.'

Waving teabags will not save the GOP!

  • Eric Cantor is the definitive douche bag.

The republicans have words, and absolutely NOTHING else.

They just throw out these words, as though democrats don't like things like "freedom" & "opportunity". As though democrats do less to give us freedom & opportunity than republicans do.

What a joke. It's just like a bunch of preachers saying shit that sounds good.

Im just glad the American people arent falling for it. I never know what the hell the American people will and wont fall for.

  • rebranding.............sure no prob. let me grab the branding iron that has the word tool glowing red hot at the end of it...........

rep.cantor just hold still for a quick sec. and tell rush to stop whining..... he's after you.

  • How do you rebrand "douche"?

  • Feminine Rinse

  • Lol...funny!

Eric Cantor is such a "feminine rinse"???

  • "New America" with a WHOLE F*%K LOT LESS OF GOVERNMENT IN OUR LIVES

  • Not in policy but by ways and means: grass roots organizing, online participation. This sounds familiar. Maybe the guy that used these things to become president has some good ideas after all.

  • These guys don't know they are dead. Roll over and shut up already.

  • The Republicans have no other choice than to turn more Libertarian. It is the only way they can defeat the Democrats in any election.

  • well they better turn libertarian in policy as well as label too.

and i doubt that would happen with this bunch. they are far from being libertarian.

  • Oh no. Not this guy again

  • Cantor looks like a smug bastard.

  • Yes. "Smarmy" also comes to mind when I watch him.

  • Republicans have effectively given up hope that the GOP is the "party of ideas," and want to start over. The "rebranding" effort will be led in part by conservative Republicans named Bush and McCain. What could possibly go wrong?

Who wants to wager that, after the NCNA completes its forums, Republicans will discover what they really need to do is push for more tax cuts, private health insurance, school vouchers, nuclear power, space weapons, and cuts to social services?

  • "Republicans have effectively given up hope that the GOP is the "party of ideas," and want to start over."

I disagree. They act like they think Americans are complete morons and all they have to do is bring up crap like maybe he's not native born, or not a Christian, etc. But the tactic works so maybe I shouldn't blame them.

  • Yeah it worked really well in the last two elections.

  • How about starting with transparency. Where is the site that lets us explore the income and spending streams of our government? How are we supposed to evaluate the choices made by our leaders if we can't see the impact those choices will have on the revenue and spending streams? If our congress honestly wanted a great government, their highest priority would be to ensure the electorate was both competent and equipped to select the best leadership.

  • How about this republicans: Instead of frantically slamming Obama for everything he does, calling him a socialist, holding banal and incoherent tea parties, why don't you try reigning in these insane nazis in your party that are racists, seccessionists, and talking about armed revolt. Why not decry those assholes, say they aren't part of the national dialogue, and stay in your little offices and come up with some fucking IDEAS.

  • Of course it wouldn't hurt if they employed some of their people in scanning forums that are already out there.

There are viable ideas and question out there somewhere between the whack job responses If anyone, with enought knowledge to discern wheat from chaff, were willing to take a look.

  • Well at least it didn't take them ten years to get comfortable with this "new idea", but I'll wait to see if its a smoke screen or an honest attempt to be viable before I get excited for them.

  • I will accept their invitation when they accept the presidents invitation to get back to work for the American people.

  • Would you buy a used car from this guy? If you would, I feel sorry for you. You are no judge of character.

  • Are you kidding.. I wouldn't even buy a used car from this guy even if I were being water boarded into doing so. LOL

  • thats coldddd

  • Republicans that listen to the people? uhmmmm yeah that is something that they aren't good at

  • Three words come to mind every time I listen to a republican speak... "Full Of Shit."

  • How does it feel to be the only Jewish member of the repube party?

  • Really?

  • pathetic.

  • Lol, republicans are trying online chat, good luck with that

  • The problem with Repubicans is that the neo-conservative ideas of a religious military-industrial-complex have destroyed the GOP. The best Republican was Abe Lincoln because he understood that government has certain obligations to allow free markets and free people to make decisions and to keep the fruit of their labor. His most important and unrecognized accomplishment was to create a central bank that printed NON-INTEREST bearing notes (US Treasury Notes) which is what helped him win the war.

  • Republicans should return to this idea of a government that allows to maximize personal liberties and freedoms by abolishing the private "Federal" Reserve and creating a central bank within the Treasury who can print money for projects like infrastructure that will not bear interest on the American people allowing for us to keep ALL of our money to grow the economy with the investments WE choose. Please go watch this clip from a great movie:

    watch?v=nNumEm2NzQA

  • If they would stand up and own that idea, they might have a shot, but most of them are too busy drooling and foaming at the mouth with hate over Obama to get any fresh ideas. I myself am a libertarian (socially) and a liberal fiscally, and it took a long time before I made the decision to vote for Obama instead of Ron Paul. But what these republicans need to do is get more socially libertarian and own the idea of abolishing the fed, and stop the tea parties and incoherent nonsense. Good comment.

  • ooooh live internet chats! will there be boobs?

  • Dude, your talking about the party of Larry Craig and Ted Haggard; I don't think its women they'll have naked on there chats,

  • so you would rather they stay the same and not change ?

  • Good question. No, I don't want them to stay the same. I want them to decry these insane nazi facists that are talking about secession, tea parties, and other non-constructive bullshit. They need to stop skirting around this racist, mindless hate machine republicans have attached themselves to (by pretending the hate of Obama is justified and/or a majority of Americans) and GET THE FUCK TO WORK.

  • well then, I'm sure they will change after you have educated them on the error of their ways.

    Or not.

  • I so agree. This is the perfect opportunity for them to make an issue of transparency and do everything they can to build a web site that gives everyone the ability to see how proposed legislation affects the income and spending of government. But they don't want anything like this to happen even more than the democrats don't want it. Both sides are populated by well connected self-serving assholes because it's too easy to discredit an opponent who's unwilling to be as ruthless and dishonest.

  • People are engaged in debate, they are just not on your side. (well maybe 22%)

  • You know what'd make the republicans start doing something? Is if Obama signed an executive order legalizing same-sex marriage nationally. It'd get the republicans to actually start caring about other issues than their silly religious bigotry policies. If it happened in my country, it could happen in the states.

  • LOL, repugs

  • Why aren't we just calling it the Pro-Business Party? That's all the Republican Party is anymore. And that will never change. It's not a re-branding effort because Republicans refuse to be anything other than solely pro-business.

  • Sounds like they just can't think of what to do next!

  • talking bobblehead...haha

  • Cantor the windbag. Blowing smoke in your face.

  • get this bobblehead doll out of here

  • haahaahaha

  • Roflmao @ CANTor LOL!!

  • Sounds like a rebranding effort to me :P
