Okay, after listening, I ordered this guitar!!! I am 67 years old and have wanted a reso-phonic for over 25 years. I can't wait. This is like getting a Harley!
@BottleneckJohn Don't worry. Guys like you are why I'm gonna be grabbing one of these. I do a lot of travelling, so the size seems like a bonus there. Also, my first guitar was a Squire Bullet 3/4 Electric. A beat up old piece of shite, but I loved the small neck and low action.
I watched a demo of the National Tricone (German Silver.) I was blown away by how it sang at high notes.
You mentioned on another video how you would save the Tricone if you could only one guitar. Why is that?
sorry, i just saw the answer to my string-gauge question in your blurb. yeah, i thought this sounded like lighter gauges, meaning that in a good way. very cool indeed.
hi....asking strictly for fingerstyle (standard, drop d, etc)---will .12s sound good? or do you have to string heavier---are you using .12s here, or .13s....or? thanks....and sounds really nice!
Got a pickup in this one now, will make a clip showing this, soon. Also the Mandolian(reso-mandolin) has got a PU now, both sound amazing plugged in!!
I've got one of these. Totally blown away by it. Don't waste your money on something else. If you want a reso that compares favourably with a National for fraction of the price get one of these. Nice playing !!
what a great sounding guitar... It sounds warmer than the resolian. Does brass has anything to do with it? I've been hesitating between a miniolian and a resolian, but soundwise this one is my favorite. I play fingerstyle without a pick, do you think it would be my best bet?
Great playing John, six out of five stars ...easy.
I've been scouring you tube for insights into repulic guitars... Are they too good to be true? I'm particularly taken with your brass 61... Do you think the pre-production issue has any bearing on the awesome sound? Do you know anything about the subsequent build consistency?
My six(6) Republic instruments have all been really well set up and in fine condition from day one!!!!!
I've seen comments lately regarding the craftsmanship but I haven't had any big issues..??!
The only thing I've done is to file the sides of the frets on some guitars, I can do this myself so I don't even consider it to be a problem, haha!!! Most guitars need this done when they arrive to cold and dry Sweden...
there's some things on my highway 61 that are kind of meh. there's these fingerprints on the resonator that will not come off, some cracked wood on the fretboard, the mother of pearl inlays that look like they were hammered in by some oobatz, and some rust around the hand guard thing
what gauge strings do you like on that guitar?
and do you know what they come with? thanks. love your stuff.

May I recommend the book 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene, 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man

I just read an article about it, it would cost 830€ in Germany (about 1200 US$). Do you think it would be worth it?

@GlobalJukebox
A tricone is the ultimate slideguitar, if I had to pick just one, that would be it! But it's cool to have different models.. :-)

Would this be steel bodied in this video? Looks like a brushed nickel like finish. I didn't see this option on the Republic catalogue. thanks

@McGitpickr

whats the price on that ?
and if its metal then its sturdier?
and what about rust ?
and can i get tabs for the part that begins at 2:00 ??
panzarw 1 year ago
@panzarw Do you need tabs? Search "blues shuffle". For price check out republicguitars(dot)com.Yeah, it's sturdier.
tinpanalley67 1 year ago
@panzarw Rust? Keep the metal clean so it does not rust.

I like the idea of access to the upper frets, but does the cutaway affect the bass response as it does on an acoustic guitar?
toddallenhooper 1 year ago
I don't think there's any noticeable affect, and the huge sound holes(tricone style) really helps with the bass and sound projection!!

Thanks!!
In theory brass should be "warmer" than steel but this is not always true, strings and which slide you use is also an important sound factor..
I have steel bodies that sounds much sweeter and mellower than brass bodies and vice versa, LoL!!
I'd say that the Resolian or the Highway 61 is the way to go, but remember there's a shorter scale on the Hw61.. :-)
