That opening gives me shivers EVERY SINGLE TIME ... that beautiful haunting music and the way she reads that poem ... @alyssaKmorgan Compared to Mrs. Hammon and her friend Rachel Lynde is a saint haha they are just mean and evil. I think Rachel means well it just doesn't come out that way all the time. If she were as aweful as Mrs. Hammon and her friend, Marilla wouldn't be her friend.

PBS,was a god send.Maybe late 80's early 90's when i first watch this series, i remenber thinking that no matter how bad of a hand she was dealt, her spirit never got broken.Because is all about what you make of your situation when your old enought to do so and all your mental capibilities are there.This is a feel good and i always loved the message in it

@1950sRetroHousewife it's such a bleak prospect for someone like Anne. I think it affected me quite strongly when i was very little too. It was the first real taste i'd ever had of what it would be like not to be loved.
