Hey look a supra that can actually pull a decent 60 foot lol. A built 2jz is just a dyno queen. Who cares if it has 1000hp if it still runs 12's. This "dinosaur" engine combo will yield better 1/4 mile times with less hp than a 2jz all day long. Awesome build man, sounds awesome and i'm sure it runs just as good. I was just on the supra forum and was told this was originally a TT car, the owner blew up the 2jz, and built this for 30k. alot of supra owners on there say with that much money into it the 2jz would have more power.

Archaic, OHV technology, cast iron block, a fucking CARB - the only place for that engine is in a classic 60's muscle car, or submerged in water holding a boat in place. If you want to play with the big boys, maybe you should stop using a motor that billy joe bubba can tear down in a trailer park, and get something with more modern technology (that includes FUEL INJECTION - it's only been around...oooh....60 years...)

@transamman305 I hate to diss agree with you but i will. putting this motor in this car is the dumbest thing ive ever seen. a 2jz supra can make more power than this sbc by just raising the boost and adding a few bolt ons. not to mention it will get superior gas millage being that its fuel injection. ive had carb engines in the past, and i wont touch another. there is a reason cars arent made with them any more. its call efficiency.

@firechicken76 It takes more than you may think to make that much power on a 2JZ. I know since a freind of mine owns one. He has a single 67mm turbo instead of the twins running at 18psi, a full 3" catback, aftermarket intercooler and piping, and an AEM standalone computer for tuning. His car makes 450 RWHP. Contrary to what everyone thinks, a 2JZ will blow around 500-600 HP. They are not bulletproof and all the ones making 700 or more HP are built bottom ends.
@transamman305 your friend needs to find another tuner...besides, all fuel economy was taken away with this swap, im all for motor swaps, but only when it involves an older car and a newer engine, thats an upgrade, not the other way around....an LS motor would of been the way to go for this swap....at least something fuel injected.
@firechicken76 My freind is tuning it himself and he is pretty sharp. Car runs perfectly at WOT with an 11.6 AFR. Tune is spot on...it just takes more than most think to make 1000 HP on a 2J. Another buddy of mine blew the 2J in his 94 supra at only 520 RWHP and it was pro tuned by a respectable shop. At the end of the day, this car makes 521 RWHP. Prob runs bottom 11's if not high 10's with a good launch. I would not be calling it a pos. I love LSx engines but they are not the only choice.
@firechicken76 LSx motors are bad ass...but I do appreciate a big cube small block too. Guess it's just all preference. I do enjoy how this car pisses off nearly every single supra owner that comments on the vid though ;)
@transamman305 Where do you get this info? I made 787rwhp on the stock longblock (only valvesprings and retainers) back in 2008. You also left out major details about your friend's setup as to why it only makes 450whp. An old school 67 with small injectors and stock fuel isn't going to make a lot of power. You should talk to my friend who made 591whp at 19psi on a stock bottom end 2JZ with a 6765, AEM and other goodies.

Because I have known a few supra guys and they have all told me that the 2JZ is not the end all motor that people think it is. 787 rwhp on a stock bottom end seems like a timebomb in all honesty. @transamman305 No you don't get it do ya? My friend made 590whp at 19psi on PUMP gas (93 octane). My car made 520whp at 18psi on 93 octane on an old school 74mm turbo and titan motorsports fuel system. What I was saying is that your friend making only 450whp on a 67 at 18psi means he does not have a full fuel system, because he would make more than 450whp at 18psi. The newer 67mm turbos are making in the 550whp range on pump gas with a fuel system.
@transamman305 My car ran 10k miles with that setup before I built the bottom end and went with a billet 71mm. Its still in progress but I'm looking for 900whp on E85 with a better powerband than my last turbo.

Archaic, OHV technology, cast iron block, a fucking CARB - the only place for that engine is in a classic 60's muscle car, or submerged in water holding a boat in place. If you want to play with the big boys, maybe you should stop using a motor that billy joe bubba can tear down in a trailer park, and get something with more modern technology (that includes FUEL INJECTION - it's only been around...oooh....60 years...)

@transamman305 I hate to diss agree with you but i will. putting this motor in this car is the dumbest thing ive ever seen. a 2jz supra can make more power than this sbc by just raising the boost and adding a few bolt ons. not to mention it will get superior gas millage being that its fuel injection. ive had carb engines in the past, and i wont touch another. there is a reason cars arent made with them any more. its call efficiency.

@firechicken76 It takes more than you may think to make that much power on a 2JZ. I know since a freind of mine owns one. He has a single 67mm turbo instead of the twins running at 18psi, a full 3" catback, aftermarket intercooler and piping, and an AEM standalone computer for tuning. His car makes 450 RWHP. Contrary to what everyone thinks, a 2JZ will blow around 500-600 HP. They are not bulletproof and all the ones making 700 or more HP are built bottom ends.

@transamman305 your friend needs to find another tuner...besides, all fuel economy was taken away with this swap, im all for motor swaps, but only when it involves an older car and a newer engine, thats an upgrade, not the other way around....an LS motor would of been the way to go for this swap....at least something fuel injected.

@firechicken76 My freind is tuning it himself and he is pretty sharp. Car runs perfectly at WOT with an 11.6 AFR. Tune is spot on...it just takes more than most think to make 1000 HP on a 2J. Another buddy of mine blew the 2J in his 94 supra at only 520 RWHP and it was pro tuned by a respectable shop. At the end of the day, this car makes 521 RWHP. Prob runs bottom 11's if not high 10's with a good launch. I would not be calling it a pos. I love LSx engines but they are not the only choice.

@transamman305 Where do you get this info? I made 787rwhp on the stock longblock (only valvesprings and retainers) back in 2008. You also left out major details about your friend's setup as to why it only makes 450whp. An old school 67 with small injectors and stock fuel isn't going to make a lot of power. You should talk to my friend who made 591whp at 19psi on a stock bottom end 2JZ with a 6765, AEM and other goodies.

Because I have known a few supra guys and they have all told me that the 2JZ is not the end all motor that people think it is. 787 rwhp on a stock bottom end seems like a timebomb in all honesty. BTW, my freinds setup has a brand new 67mm and aftermarket injectors (not sure how big). And are you saying he should run it on race gas? Kind of defeats the purpose of a street car doesn't it?

@transamman305 No you don't get it do ya? My friend made 590whp at 19psi on PUMP gas (93 octane). My car made 520whp at 18psi on 93 octane on an old school 74mm turbo and titan motorsports fuel system. What I was saying is that your friend making only 450whp on a 67 at 18psi means he does not have a full fuel system, because he would make more than 450whp at 18psi. The newer 67mm turbos are making in the 550whp range on pump gas with a fuel system.
