Akira Kurosawa's film uses the plot from Ryunosuke Akutagawa's "In a Grove" and and the setting from his other short story "Rashomon", which is a totally different story. This short film is sticks with the later. GOOD WORK!

you do know about Akira Kurosawa's movie "Rashomon" right? is this film supposed to be a reference to it somehow?

"Rashomon" and other stories are written by Akutagawa, and they were the basis for the 1950s film.
