Actually, The Adventures of Pete & Pete got me looking, seeing they used the tune in the 2-part season 2 episode "Farewell, My Little Viking" when little Pete and Artie, the Strongest Man in the world were "rowing" across lawns in their land canoe... though hearing it used in the Spongebob episode "Nautical Novice" a few minutes ago got me looking again.

Been meaning to look up this classic & Amusing Series for a while, it's strange that their have been many "Ivor the Engine" / "Clangers" / "Paddington" / &

"Roobarb & Castard" Repeats in the 1990's & early 00's (when i was young) but i've never seen the original "Captain Pugwash" exept clips on Documentarys :(

I knew the Books & CGI Series though & think it's bizarre that it hasn't been shown in such a long time.

There never were any characters with these names in Captain Pugwash...it was a silly newspaper myth started by The Guardian, for which they later had to print a retraction and apologise to John Ryan, the creator of Pugwash. The cabin boy's name was Tom, not Roger. And there was NEVER a character called Seaman Staines, or anything that sounded remotely like it...the show seemed innocent because it WAS innocent.

So did I and im 23, and trust me the whole names being changed as they were rude is an urban myth, the names were never chanegd i have all of the episodes on vhs around here somewhere, will have to dig around n convert and upload one at soem point. on reflection, it's very scottish 'country' dance music.

specifically the descending bass line from 0:20 - up till then the bass note just vamps away with the backing - but i've realised when the bass note does this, it means 'we're heading for the end' - much in the same way as the bass drum in a pipe-band does a double 'double-beat' at the end, so everyone knows to stop at the same time - do you see?
