When i save some money, should I make a parts warmoth stratocaster with a 30th anniversery hot gold preloaded pickup? I want this to be a golden strat
i really want to put better pickups in my mexican strat, but i still want that strat sound just beefed up some, someone plz tell me what they think!!!!!!!!!!!
I have an American stratocaster plus II deluxe I bought back in 1994 with the lacesensors red silver and blue. It is such a quiet guitar compared to my les paul or es335. those pickups are not as loud as some others but for the quiet they produce when not being played they are amazing. the red bridge pickup alone sounds full and thick like a humbucker or mini humbucker.
Red has super high output usually in the bridge. Blue is deeper and silvers pretty fat. I just use straight hot golds, they have a slightly stronger output than regular golds and can handle some serious drive. It depends what you want Sound wise, if you go on to their site you can look up a color coding chart on what tone each color puts out, then choose the one thats right for you. All of them are noiseless too I believe, but you can still utilize feedback with them.
I've got a set of these, gold, blue, and red, and I'm sticking them in my fav strat. I had an older strat that they were in that I used as a backup, but these are so good that I'm replacing a dimarzio that I have in the good strat with these laces. I use my POD Pro into the effects loop of my all tube Peavey 120 watt amp and it rocks.. It's the best of both worlds..
I have a 1991 Stratocaster Plus with gold Lace Sensor. It's soo funny, cause once you play with lace sensors, there is no way you could go back to any other pickups.
Wow. I too have a candy apple red Strat with a maple fretboard but with hot gold laces. Or maybe yours is a little darker than candy apple. Either way you have awesome taste
so they pretty much rock in every position you put them?? they rock as well on clean right? than bell like tone...would you recommend upgrading my vintange noiseless for a gold in the neck or middle?
Thanks man. Been looking for these pickups with distortion for awhile. I'm gonna put a lace gold in the neck on my squire. Haven't decided middle and bridge pickups. Squire's suck....but hey. It was my first electric guitar, and i loved it.
i agree with you. my squire strat really does suck, but i figured if i put in some lace sensor pickups, it would sound decent atleast, especially for clean tones
i was looking for a mexi strat in that color but i played a black one and it was just too amazing to let go. now i'm trying to decide between the red/white/blue or triple gold pickups. thanks for the post man!
Is these hum with distortion? I kind of hear it, but Im not sure if it's the enviroment or your guitar... Do it generate hum? And if so, is it annoying or nothing to care about?
What kind of amplifier/distortion are you running your guitar through? I on and off seem to have trouble getting my golds past a certain saturation point which is, since they are lower rated pickups not surprising unless I'm using a digital distortion preset. Also, how high do you have them set?
He means that his pickups are too weak to get the amp to overdrive. Digital doesn't require high output. The question I think is how high in height are your're pickups set? This influences the output of the pickup, but these are active so the influence is lesser and they "just" only pickup the string not everything else like normale pickups.
i hear this pickups are basically noiseless, is this true or do you still get some hum? Also, do you know anything about the Red/silver/blue pickups? im going for a eletric blues sound, clean and mid distortion.. what would you say? I hear the gold's are much better with blues, but im just looking for a personal opinion.
Have you used any of the other lace sensors? I'm thinking of putting the Red/Blue/Silver set on my Squier Strat. Or do you think it'd even be worth it to try to update a Squier with good pickups? idk. I Might get a Mexico Strat, but I can't afford it right now. And, I'm thinking of getting Alumitones for My Ibanez. Sorry about the long comment. Just wonderin' what I should do with my guitars.
the red silver and blue set is a great set and will sound probably very good on the squier compared to the stock, i put lace sensor red silver and blue pickups on my MIM strat and then put the stock pickups from that (98 MIM Fender strat) and put those in my squier and there is an improvment, ive also heard of other people doing it and being happy with it so. yea.
i would say, if you like the sound of the strat, go for the Mexican. save the money on the pickups (maybe put them on the mexi.) I would wait it out and get the money for the nicer guitar.
with the Lace Sensors you get a clean Sound like Clapton, they sound like 50's Pickups, bell like and crispy Highs...
The Texas Special Pu's have more Mids...Stevie Ray Vaughan and Mark Knopfler use them...About the Texmex Pu's i don't know...haven't played them yet...
dude i have a MiM strat as well, lace sensor pickups: red, silver and blue at the neck. Check my video out, the playing kinda sux, i was messing around. Let me know what you think, i'll post better stuff soon.

It's actually a Mexican Standard, as he says in the description of his "clean" demo. The American Standard doesn't come in Midnight Wine anyway.
Also, both American and Mexican Strats are available with either Rosewood or Maple necks, and Maple is equally common on both.
Elazul451 3 years ago
the mexican standards?
80% have rosewood.
i looked at his video that it is indeed a mexican. but looks like an american standard..
and my uncles got an american from 97' that is midnight wine.
rocklicks1 3 years ago
80% have rosewood? Where did you get that info? Everyplace that sells MIM stuff tends to have maple boards as an option in every color.
