The key around 8:35 was to break the third block to the right (2 blocks to the right of X) on the top carefully.

Then use the ride armor to climb on the low, steel blocks without breaking them. You jump with the Ride Armor on the first explosive block, and jump on the next quickly, and on the boss door. But be fast because it will explode and, well, that would suck since you got that far with it. :P
