My best song of all time I sing it every day to my wife I love this save the last dance for me don't forget who's taking you home.................let's all sing
When my daughter was 3 years old ( she is now 18) everytime we went to the diner that had the juke box on the table she used to make my husband play this song...because he used to hold her & sing it to her @ home.. she thought he made it up LOL <3
The Drifters' version of the song spent three non-consecutive weeks at number one on the U.S. pop chart, in addition to logging one week atop the U.S. R&B chart. In the UK, the Drifters' recording reached number two in December 1960. This single was produced by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, two noted American music producers who at the time had an apprentice relationship with a then-unknown Phil Spector.
@rockinvol Is this the previous line up before the songs "The Boardwalk" and "On Broadway" and "Up On The Roof". I saw a guy sining "On Broadway" and I am wondering who he is. I would like to know. So how long was Ben E. King in The Drifters for?
---------oh darling save the last dance forme, oh darling save the last dance for me! esta versión y la de Ben E. kING.. hay muchas versiones.. enjoy it!!
the late doc pomus wrote this one. he - crippled because of infantile paralysis - couldn't dance with his wife on their wedding. when he saw his lady dancing all nite long with all the other guys, he wrote these famous words on his napkin. sad, but true.
@karntnisleians actually not entirely true. The man who wrote the lyrics was crippled and his wife was a broadway dancer. The song was a tribute to her telling her not to give up her love (dancing) for him and all he asks is for the last dance. quite sweet actually
Oj,oj,oj... Det var många "hippor" som avslutades med den här låten i min ungdom!!!

Quite agree with you Phyllis, the original was superb, so were most of their other recordings too. All are timeless classics I think.

Fuck his good.

Why the hell do they want to ruin such a classic track by singing it at this speed, were they in a hurry to get home or being paid by the minute?
speedtwin007 4 months ago
@speedtwin007 crank it up a bit.Original is brilliant anyway.
phylliswaterfield 3 months ago
this is not a disco tune!. where the hell`s the swing?? whoever did the arranging needs to take his head out of his ass!
jonlarkster 5 months ago
sorry this really sucks. the arrangement has no resemblance to the original. no subtlety .
