i didnt mind the bourbon flavor, it came in subtle on the aftertaste. im not really looking for bourbon flavor in my beers anyway. wood aged beers intrigue me though
This isn't a really good beer at all in my expert opinion. It's a syrupy, overly sweet malty mess. The bourbon flavor is rather poor as well. And this shawn14505 dude below has no idea what he's talking about. "Southern Tier is the best brewery out there." That's the stupidest most uninformed statement I've read in quite a while.
@fatsachs i just tried it and almost completely agree with you. i also found it entirely too syrupy and sweet. the malts were much more evident than the hops. the alcohol is hidden well for a beer thats up around 10%. their double ipa is much better but that's not really saying much, seeing as how i wasn't too impressed with that either. and yeah shawn14505, southern tier isnt too impressive compared with other craft breweries. and why isnt the company named northern tier?
@slimsladey The abv is hidden so well cause it's drown out by all that residual sugar sweetness. The brewery name is off-putting as hell though aint it? You'd think they were based in the south no doubt. I do like the 2XIPA of there's, their Iniquity black ale and the Choklat is exceptional. If you think this one was a mess do not try their creme bru le' vanilla bean stout whatever you do, it's the sweetest most overpowering thing I've ever tasted. Literally sickeningly sweet! :P

You're right Shawn, they do brew some good beers. I need to contact them and see if they'll send some since we can't get them in Georgia.

You guys should try Southern Tier's complete lineup. Hands down the best brewery out there. I recommend the Oat.

I have checked out your beer reviews, lucky guy getting some of that brewmasters reserve. What beers are you interested in the southeast?

I'll send you beer if you return the favor with some beers from the south east. Check out my beer reviews.
