  • My daughter is learning this one and your vid was very helpful. Thank you! You sound great btw. :)

  • at 0:23 theres a buzzy sound if you listen closely while he does his vibrato

  • Well to be critical it was an erratic tempo, low notes barely sounded out any tone, and somewhat out of tune. The fast notes were really smooth.

  • I think you're a little out tempo

  • learning to play this my teacher makes everone learn it as soon as they pass grade 5, but you play it so well, how long you been playing?? XD

  • I have the CD, but doesn't it have both parts playing together? Am I missing something?

  • Thank you for just playing the 1st violin by itself. I am learning this now and most recordings have both violins playing together. When you are just listening it is sometimes hard to know which is playing which part. So this helps me a lot. Thank you. Good playing too!

  • @jmjmichael1 You should buy the CD! :D It comes with all of the songs in the 4th Revised Suzuki Book! $15, really cool.

  • you're a bit flat and slow but other wise it's okay.

and violin II is harder (and more important) . i had to learn both.

  • @shn1325 The violin2 part is so much harder the the first.

  • That was good, I did this piece about 2 years ago, and for playing it from memory without the 2nd violin part it was really good. The only thing you could maybe work on a bit was your shifting and maybe playing it a bit faster, and it would sound so much better! But good job!

  • he did a great job. I bet you couldn't do better

  • i am so grateful to you! i have been looking all over youtube for the 1st violin part to accompany ( i do 2nd)

and you are the best so far to play with :D

  • great job! how long have you been playing?

  • good job! that was impressive for someone like you!

  • LOL xD Impressive for someone like you? lol

  • genius XD

  • i have to play from 0:52 to 1:36 tomorrow for my playing exam.

it's hundred points...and it determines whether I'll move on to the Symphony Orchestra

    :( i'm scared...

    but good job anyways...

  • so still this guy could kick your butt look when he posted it in 2007 and you said that this was easy a month ago if your with me vote me up in this comment!!!!!!!

  • you should use a metronome, and maybe some rosin on your bow to help you grip the strings for better sticatto

  • 0:30-34, :47, :51-54, 1:10-1:12 watch rhythms.

Like others said, watch your tempo and make sure it doesn't fluctuate, and intonation and clarity, especially on fast passages.

It's coming along nicely though [: with slow practice at certain parts, the beauty of the piece will show through!

  • Keep your tempo constant watch your dynamics and careful when it comes to string changes. Try playing it a little bit slower. Overall, very nice. This piece can take a long time to perfect.

  • Very good but keep the tempo constant.

  • OMG your are awesome! I played that part too for my orchestra!

  • Thank you very much, I am studying the second violin so if I lear it we can play the concert together one day

  • I have one question: is that second or first violin that you are playing. Thank you

  • I believe that's the first violin part..

  • No, it's the second violin.

  • Sorry, I'm wrong, it's the 1st violin.

  • It is the first violin. Not the second.

  • improve your timing on some places where you slow down and speed up and note accuracy, but a overall great job

  • i can play the 2nd violin part to this. is awesome to hear the first violin part alone. it will help me practice thanx :]

  • too slow

  • Not to be rude or anything, but seriously, if one were to play 1ST VIOLIN in the Bach Devil at the real tempo, you would have to use more than fingers to count all the mistakes one would make, all the shifts and the intonation that must taken into consideration, this piece is extremly hard. Instead of verbaly jabbing someone who actually did a good job, why don't you go find this piece when profesinals playing it so you don't have to say 'Too slow'!

Okay, maybe that was too rude......

  • all i said was too slow.... and umm i can play this super fast and it's not extremely hard it's moderately hard not really that hard and i prettimuch mastered it....not to be self-absorbed or anything but most violinists are self-absorbed anyway......and i have the 1st violin part i cant count how many times i've played it i'm 1st in the video on my page for proof =p

  • Can you play it perfectly?

  • why dont you look at the vid on my page if you care? and yes prettimuch

  • Ugh. I saw. You were pretty much awesome. Still, that was a bit rude, check a Chamber Orchestra playing it! It's on my homepage.

    (whispers: I take back everything!)

Oops, I typed that. Oh well^^

  • haha thanks. i wasnt tryin to be mean by saying too slow. it was pretty good. i will look =]

  • ^^. I got a chance to play this song for the first time today in Strings Camp! 2nd Viloin though. I actually did pretty good compared to the other people in my class.

  • thats cool. i go to camp in august =](for violin)

  • Have fun!

  • i will!!! =]

  • YAY!

  • lol =p

  • and it said that critism was WELCOME

  • Kitkat4261690 I looked at yours...you play pretty good but..some of your notes were still a bit out of tune...and...you don't feel your music. It sounds like your just playing notes. I should see you get into your music. When you play, it should make a person feel something. I felt nothing. If you don't know what I mean, look up a professional Violinist who is truly GREAT, like Issac Stern or Itzhak Perlman, and watch how they play. To be a great violinist, it must come from the heart.

  • oh believe me i play from my heart and with enthusiasm but u have no idea what kind of audience i had to play infront of i was very nervous and it was also not a very good view so u couldn't see that i was playing with feeling. and i dont think any notes were out of tune i have perfect pitch. and that was a while ago i have improved by alot since. and i do admire itzhak perlman and hope to be as good as him someday. please consider this, i do definately play from the heart. :]

  • great! But no matter where you are your feeling should just show naturally. ^^

  • ya i was really nervous lol i got over that fear a while ago tho. :]

  • It was for arielNoguera

  • i thought that was very impressive. althought some notes where a little flat. its takes a rlly good player to do a massive piece like this one. so keep up the praticing because the practicing makes the master....good work...!!!

  • dont u just love violin =) i love playing 1st violin!! =)

  • Aaahhh, intonation!!! The notes are too flat in some places, like the high D. Also, tempo. You seem to be holding some notes a bit more than you're supposed to.

I'm only criticizing because you said it was welcome, so don't criticize me for criticizing you, OK? That goes for everyone else that watches this vid.

Also, turing the page?! You should get a new copy that can allow you to play the entire thing without interruption. Or you can memorize some parts and flip the page during the pause.

  • need more practice. its out of tune and not giving good quality sound, srry. Practice on each note ggetting theemm in ttuunnee. trying to play fast wont give u sh*t, practice slowly.( dont get offended)

  • pfft like you could do better?

  • horrible...horrible sound of violins,some notes are long,some short, much accents.So vulgary!

  • that is a mean and rude comment. he said the criticism was welcome not mean and rude comments like yours. do you play an instrument? do u now how much time you have to take off your day and how much it takes to even play something like this massive? you istead of commenting rudenes should be apressiating that he can acutually do it and do a good job. you might be right that some note are too long and others to short but that little mistakes dont make it Vulgar!

  • Yes, I'm playing on violin already 13 year, last Wednesday I played this movement at concert, and it take us(together with second violin) around two months learn it to perfectly shape.

Of course, everybody plays that himself and other feels, however this young man that evident only train...I hope.

I just wanted to say, that he plays it something differnet like me.

  • Your vibrato is impressive. However, try to tune your notes more. I saw a lot of false flats, naturals, and sharps.

However, on the whole, I would say that you are a very good player!

  • watch out for changing positions, dont speed, and don't do legato for ur 8th notes or else it would lose substance, the beginning was slow but then it got faster. Also watch out for the parts in measure 50 or 61, and try to make ur theme:the tiny "rocket theme" and emphasize wif vibrato instead of HUGE HEAVY accents

  • ur really gd! play it better than i can, but it sounds better if you don't put in ANY vibrato, try it works!

  • this is ok. u need to work on keeping the same tempo. i mean since ur not with a second violin solo, ur good at keeping pace but try working on that especially for tht piece

  • lol.

Did you know 2nd violin is harder than 1st?

Next time try playing 2nd lol.

    Good job(:

  • noooo 2nd is quite a bit easier. there about the same. i've played both parts a lot of times in recitals and 1st is harder

  • actually 1st IS harder IF you dont know how to shift.

2nd&&1st are the same if you do

yea 2nd is more work though

  • actually 1st IS harder IF you dont know how to shift.

2nd&&1st are the same if you do

yea 2nd is more work though

  • Right, the only difference is shifitng for the first violin part, 2nd part is easier bcuz u almost nvr shift, and so, doing 'work' more on the second violin piece isn't much of a problem

    :}

  • wow, it was good! i have to play this piece for a tryout in a few weeks and I wanted to see how it sounded. you played well, i could follow along w/ my music :) good job!

  • uhh not to be negative but put more expression XD srry if this is negative it i guess would make ie better

  • good job! how long have you been playing? how long have you had lessons? i am just starting violin and have not had lessons yet. i wish i could play this song. i just make things up. i might upload some of it....

  • Your jaw or "chin" should be on the chin rest, right? :]

If you rest your chin on the tailpiece the sound will be sort of muffled and won't come out as much. You're doing great. :]

  • watch your speed. your bow keeps sliding into the finger board. also, watch your notes. Everything else is good....

  • ur good, but like ppl said, you sometimes dont hit all the notes. nice vibrato!!! and speeeeeed too fast sometimes. i do the same thing too. XD

  • One issues. Okay, Two.

Your Chin X.X you play that way STANDING Sitting you SHOULD have you chin on the rest.

    Two...watch the BOW

  • Thats how my chin rest is and I don't look at my bow and my teacher says I do good so beat that you critic. This is good. Better than you can play.

  • Cool your at a high level... I play extremely hard music... and it's sometimes takes a lot of practise

  • So this is how this song sounds like! =O

My mom is starting to play this song.

And it sounds horrible, anyway she 40... xD

Yes, yes, I love her very much.

But she's been learning for 2 years...

    So yeaaaaaaah... ^^;;

By the way, you're so gooooooooood!!

    Keep on practicing!! ^0^

  • HAHAH areopostale xD

    and again nice :]

  • how long did it take u to learn this?? because im thinking of playing this for something in around may but the 2nd violin part

  • hey your playing a awesome. :D

but just a tip maybe you should try playing a bit slower and practice hitting the notes on time. On some parts you play too fast and others too slow. I love this song so i know ;D

    good luck

  • You have great vibrato but your speed is inconsistent. And more bow. Besides these little problems I think you GREAT! Oh, you have a great sounding violin.

  • Vibrato was good, you're body and bow need to be more relaxed. And yes faster!

  • well, i should encourage you a bit. but try to improve you intonation, they are off pitch quite often, and that's not acceptable.

  • The intonation are good -.-

  • its fine where his chin is, it's just that you might need to buy a custom fit chin rest. try looking into SHAR music. Also, maybe go a wee faster? its book 5 susuki so you should play...maybe allegro? i'm 14 and i'm in book 7. but anyway, great playing!

  • I love how the violin can make such harmony by itself!!! I'm not a violin person so I dont know how to judge :D but it's so good!! even by yourself. I can never move so fast on string!

  • Good. I have to learn the second violin part so I'm waiting for you to post it so I can have a guide!

  • damn...great trills.

  • you should try moving the violin to the left a little more, its sorta going in front of you. my teacher said its harder to play that way, sooo yeah. other than that, very good ^^

  • That's some good stuff.

  • ahhhh snap maddd good lol i see your face this time haha
