  • Art was just enjoying singing at 2:29. That's my opinion. He loves his talent. Where are the bands today? It's just a lot of techo-garbage and voice tuning.

  • natural as birdsong in aire

  • great great song

  • Amazing! What I would have given to see this concert! Ageless and Timeless.

Always had a huge crush on Art... those eyes, that mouth... cannot blame a girl! :)

  • oh Art.... :)

  • Art Garfunkel's so handsome. Is it me, or are his eyes dancing while he holds a note?

  • @MUSICAETERNANYC YES, absolutely right! Great observation! :)

  • I'd really love to know who Art got his eyes on at 2:29 and what idea that gave him.. Due to his smile afterwards I think he thought of where he was gonna sleep that night :p

  • @Tremmemis - I saw that! I think you are so correct :)

  • @Tremmemis It looks like Paul has the same idea

  • Love their voices in harmony. In my opinion their voices are at their best at this Central Park concert, mature and very clear. Love all the songs they sing. Theirs is a God given talent, they are meant to sing together! greetings from sri lanka

  • I used to listen to this with my parents now i listen to it with my kids-wonder how many generations this will go on for

  • Oh, yes. It´s like to watch Caetano Veloso e Gilberto Gil!

Mercedes Sosa e Milton Nascimento together.

    Great artists!

  • perfect!

  • boy paul is sexy in this video XD

  • when I was a kid my family would drive from Verona (Italy) to London...2 days in the car...Paul Simon for 48 hours...call it imprinting, when I hear Paul Simon I think of long long roads...

  • Classic Simon & Garfunkle...they are pure majick together even today....listen to this and go back somewhere in time when one did begin to Slip Slide Away be it what they had to give up or where they are going....my Dad told me he is sliding and probably won't beable to see me again...I layed in the rain with those words...my ex-husband is now married to a Delorous...but I think he slips and slides from her much as he can for the thorny crown he wore was for me, but I'm the 1 who disappeared...

  • @JMRepaye1 Wow.

  • Absolutely...Love this version better then any other version. :)

  • their harmony is so amazing, a couple of times during this video i had to remind myself that it is two people singing

  • superb

  • Paul Simon Is just breathtakingly awesome. He makes me cry with joy.

  • I love this song, it's soo beautiful! I love the example they give over a father who loves to tell his son the reasons for the things he'd done and that he travelles a long way to tell his son something, that he find him sleeping, that he kiss the son on his forehead and travell back to his home... Lovely example...

  • Man, these guys are just an inigma, or whatever you want to call them. To me they're just so real, I can hardly stand it. I love em, and the wonderful music they've made over all these years. Marc Trainor.

  • I really want the dvd of this concert, best concert ever

  • 2 years ago i went to Italy on summer vacation and then i discoverd this album(live @ central park) and every day when we go buy some fresh bread i put that cd on, great

  • my boys...

  • Art, stop stressing about your sleeves!

  • It just sounds so much better with Art Garfunkel!

  • She said a good day. Ain't got no rain. She said a bad day's when I lie in bed and think of things i might have been. best songline ever

  • biggest single band concert, ever.

  • HAHAHA in the beginning art was like Can i sing with you? haha

  • I like when Art rolls up his sleeves.

  • Música que me traz doces recordações...

  • Cuando llegamos a Venezuela este es la musica que escuchaba en los momentos que me sentia solo, son recuerdos que quedaron en el mas profundo de mi ser , te sigo amando Anita-

  • These guys were awesome together. Pure Magic. Egos are a terrible thing...

  • Great concert

  • One word: LEGENDS!

  • Favorited.

  • Like it says on Charles Bukowsi's tombstone, "Don't try." Just take things as they come, day by day.

  • Their voices were meant for each other.

  • I saw them perform in Indianapolis a few years back I think it was 2006......Still Great!

  • A good day, ain't got no pain. A bad day's when I lie in bed and think of things that might have been.

  • @BobbieDeeT I think it's "A good day ain't got no rain..." I love this song.

  • @botanyboy2 Thanks...I think you're right. :)

I love it too....misheard lyrics, well, that's another topic!

haha....there's been tons of those with me over the years. :)

  • Know this feeling,,love this song~

  • I think of things that might of been...

  • Great performance

  • I saw them in an audience of around 40 in Cleveland,Ohio,-free 1964 on a t.v. recording show. Here they are just grinning and bear it.

  • god i love these guys! watching them really gives me some kinda peace and makes me feel so good! :)

how i wished i was born way earlier so i could have gone to one of their concerts....anyway i´ll never forget them & their beautiful music! <3

  • the miami pink lighting and jacket/t-shirt combination sets the tone nicely. god i miss those days...

  • I love S&G.

    They have beautiful harmony.

    They are both great legends.

    ~peace~

  • Thanks for sharing Vicki :)

    I can't believe this concert was in '81..Jeez!!!How old am i??? O_O

  • i love is afro

  • Art can belt out Bridge over troubled waters and Paul can't come close to doing it justice.

  • i would definitely have to agree that art is the better singer. however paul wrote all "their" "great" songs and he plays many many instruments. i like simon better out of the duo.

  • Well, to be fair, they both have their strengths. I just think that on "Bridge over troubled waters", Art was meant to sing it. I think Paul should be the one to sing this one though. Art's voice is too airy for this song. They make such an amazing duo though. :)

  • Paul & Art's songs have so many levels...I think the inspiration comes to them from the depths of the human spirit. To know that in life simple things matter. The rest is up to God's will...

"To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and most radiant beauty, which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their most primitive forms- this knowledge, this feeling, is at the center of true religiousness. A.Einstein

  • ...watch art singing in the background while paul is singing the first verse...great stuff!

  • the original version is the best.

    best bass jamming ever

this version is great but not as good as the original

  • so in your opinion on what concert was this song best played?

  • You are my favourites, the precious survivors of my youth

  • Paul u rock!

  • magic!

  • im still only 13 and this song got me hooked on guitar.... i love it =]]]

  • good on ya hun, youll never go wrong with these guys....i recommend the new version of "a bridge over troubled water"

  • wonderfull

  • Slip Slidin' Away.. Go Massa! :-p

  • what's fake about the comment!? he didn't say that paul simon is his dad, did he ?

  • I have to say... my dad is a genius on the guitar and this sums up so many memories for me.He used to play it when i was very young. I'm 26 now and memories are precious. I love this song :)

  • @dazydoo ....you saying Paul is your Dad?....

  • @FrozenFarrahGato On youtube, your Dad can be anybody you say it is.

  • @dazydoo same here :)

  • They were so wonderful together.

  • @ZedralZ they still are

  • my favorite song

  • Paul's playing an electric guitar!

  • and After this song, I'm going to listen to Blow Away fro George Harrison...

  • that song dosn't compare to this

  • I'm in love. With Paul.

    *swoon*

    Genius, he is.

They *really* made a great pair, but for me, Paul is the man.

  • Me too. Still crazy after all these years.

  • its so cute how garfunkel mouths along to the bits that paul simon sing as a solo. id love to know what the bit at the beginning was about

  • he does that so that they can stay in sync

  • yeah, he kind of lip syncs those parts...

  • wow.. never heard best singers like them

  • Beautiful, pure, uplifting melodic genius ... this guy is the master of masters when it comes to the song writing game, few can touch him for depth, craft, and sophistication, perhaps Joni Mitchel ...

  • What was that about at the beginning? I don't

    think he likes Art.

  • Classic all time

  • a good day is definitely a day without rain...These lyrics could've been written yesterday, they are timeless...I wonder if they realize this?

  • he said: "Dolores, I live in fear,

yy love for you is so overpowering, Im afraid that I will disappear.."

    Luv this song :D

  • Who is Delores?

  • the man's wife

  • I thought Paul Simon was married to Edie Brickell

  • THe man in the song's wife is called Dolores!!! Not Paul's, Paul is singing about someone else!!! "I know a man, he came from a home town. He wore his passion for his woman like a thorny crown. H E said Dolores..."

  • I see what you mean. Some other man.

  • Even if he was singing about his own wife, he's been married 3 times. When this song was released Edie Brickell was only 10 or 11 years old. ;)

  • True, but I think Edie is a good singer/songwriter in her own right.

  • great vocal harmonies!!! I love it!!!!

  • man....do you frickin' love this song?!

  • magical...!!!

  • I share a birthday with Art. Saw him live in Perth Aust some years ago it was awesome, was in the front row.

  • My parents were at that concert, we even have a CD from the LIVE concert!

  • I'm glad I share my birthday with the genius that is Paul Simon

  • Nice tune, first time I've heard it. I'm a "new" fan to Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle( known about them for about half a year), and I hear a lot about them not being good friends anymore. Could someone explain the reason for this? And are they still friends in this concert?

  • What an absolute treat!

  • im wondring why theywere looking to the right at 2:28, perhaps theres the ''father who had a son'', which theyre singin bout at that very moment?

  • ah..

  • cool song

  • Je to super.

  • Ho ho. They barely look at each other in this video.

  • paul simon has the best voice! but art is also a fab singer what a team! seen them 2 years ago in dublin.

  • Art's too busy worring about his damn cuffs! lolol

  • I love this song!!! They are the best Live!!!

  • They really know how to sing live. ;]

    impossible

  • I loved this song!!!

  • I was so upset that I couldn't go to the concert and I was stuck on the crosstown bus from Park Avenue to the Port Authority back to Jersey, watching people streaming uptown to Central Park. Thank goodness for VIDEO!!!!

  • awsome song my mom and dad said i was 3yrsold i started to dance to it im 33 now

  • MRC0480 i was at that concert too my sister got me the ticket for my 22nd bday and i was thrilled i love paul simon and art and i went to see paul last yr in wembley both concerts were great

  • sorry for delay...massive fan myself. Good to hear opinion of someone else that was there!

  • great music...great music....I love it!!!

  • The Masters at work

  • Couldn't agree more.

  • Art looks like he doesn't get it..

  • How them voice are different! But how wonderful they sound together! LOVELY!

  • Its funny. They were going though one (of many) bad patches as a duo. Very evident through the whole of this concert from their body language and they make subtle snipes at each other...lol

  • But what about the times during this concert, when they pat each other or put their arms around the other? I wouldn't call that bad body language. Don't forget this is live.

  • Pehaps your right. Its about 50:50. I think they were always a bit love hate. Pleased they got back together as a duo and have toured recently. Their concert in Hyde Park 3 years ago was a pleasure to be at- absoultely epic.

  • this has to be one of the most wonderful songs ever written.

    ever.

  • at 02:28 they're watching to the right, whats that for? Is it because theyre singing about their fathers who sit there?

  • This is cool, but Art seems really distracted. That special something that usually unites musicians is missing here... Bettina, das STIMMT! Paul Simon's E-Gitarre ist so schoen wie seine Akustikgitarre. Ich wuesste nicht bevor dieser Film daß er in dieser Lied E-Gitarre spielt!

  • they had not spoken to each other for a long time.

  • yes they do

    alot better then most

  • stunning!!! These guys really know how to sing live

  • Die meisten Musiker vergewaltigen ihre E-Gitarre immer gleich. Simon ist einer der wenigen Musiker, die mit einer E-Gitarre umgehen können.
