The drummer isn't playing with 3 sticks! If you look closely, you can see that it is the top of his leg with the sun shining on it, not another drum stick. He's moving his leg to the time of the music (along with the drum sticks) because he plays the hi-hat with that leg. It does kind of look like a 3rd drum stick though...
