I fully understand why people, as it appears, have no clue as to why Michael Jackson has been considered top-rate. However, there is so much more that is recognized. Les Paul is a true pioneer. Like all pioneers, such as Jacopo Peri, (first opera), John Philip Sousa (Ragtime), Ferdinand "Jelly Roll" Morton (Jazz), or even dance during biblical times, most instances are co-founded by someone who becomes more visual to more. The mantle is recognized, and picked up by another God-given visionary.
Thank you for saying what needed to be said. Most people around today dont really know or appreciate Les as much as he should be appreciated. I am 15 years old and Les Paul has impacted my life big time. Thank you for all your great info and videos! -Tristian
Oh yeah? Well...Michael Jackson created and patented shoes that allow you to defy gravity! Ok so that's probably not the best comparison! Lol! But to be serious, I don't necessarily agree with you that Les Paul was supreme to MJ but I do see your point of how MAJOR he was, is and will be in music and technology. Same can, is and will be said of MJ forever! BOTH of these men were geniuses in their own right and i HIGHLY respect BOTH for what they've done for music and mankind! :O)
Well categorised, in a lateral an informative way. Having the scope to consider the influences concerning iconic individuals such as Jackson, Presley etc. directs a greater appreciation to the evolution of music rather than the over-concentrated focus put onto just individuals. It is the amalgamation of individual parts which creates the whole.
Yes! You made an astute observation to place Les Paul in history alongside DaVinci and Ben Franklin. You really get to the heart of the matter that Les Paul was a major innovator. It is amazing to think that ONE person could have done all of the things he did and have such far reaching influence.
I Get It. The early manufacturers(Ampex, RCA, etc...) were consulting and basically serving the "BrainChilds" of Les Paul and all most of what the media has reported on is his namesake Guitar. Nothing against the Gibson Les Paul but the acknowledgement has been pretty shallow.
excellent thanq!

Without Les Paul, Michael Jackson wouldn't be able to record his songs the way he did, Nor the Beatles or ELO!

I AGREE Les Paul deserves a memorial just as big as MJ.

Probably because to know what multitrack recording, tape delay,.. is you would have to have some technical or musical background.
And a very few people have that.
