  • Aren't we just getting old and miserable like our parents or is modern music really that bad? Wouldn't our parents have complained about the likes of Loose Ends et al compared to their generation of music if they had Youtube back then? Maybe music is evolving and we aren't or perhaps we just don't understand it or perhaps we aren't part of this generation anymore? There is still good music around but is it really any worse? Thoughts anyone.

  • I think most people have a time of their life where they are discovering new things like going clubbing and having serious relationships for the 1st time. I reckon this is where mosts peoples favorite music will be found, the fact there is also plenty of time to listen to it helps! Your dad is more likely to like the beatles than the prodigy for example. Having said that I think any1 who was growing up during the Rave years were very lucky. Dance music took off and went in so many directions...

  • ......when you think that so many genres that are still going today mostly evolved between 1988 & 1994. I think dance music today still throws up some great tracks but it's hard to innovate when so much has already been done. I mean there's a new version of Liquid's sweet harmony played on Radio 1 right now. Maybe it's my age but I prefer the original 8)

  • @maccagrabme Music exist because there is an audience that it appeals to. Despite what our family and friends say. We venture into the open minded world of curiosity when we are alone and just sit back and enjoy good music to our liking.

  • @maccagrabme I'm gonna put it this way.

They still make music like they used to. They just use more modern sounds and different styles now.

  • @maccagrabme - my mom loved loose ends.

  • @maccagrabme most of today's music is stripped of creative wording essentials, writing essentials, CONSTRUCTIVE essentials. Modern music is so borrowed and lacking true belief. There is nothing farther than this truth, however at the end of the day, this will be pegged as a matter of opinion..... sure, let's see how creative the next MTV or VH1 or celebrated Grammy Award artist set a so called standard. Good luck. I'm glad my next breath isn't bent on such.

  • Drums for this track were programmed by Brian B & DJ Devastate, check Demon Boyz for original version.

  • I can't agree with you more...back in the

80's seemed like most of us young Guys got along just fine...late 70's & early 80's were the Golden Years for Jazz, Funk, Soul...Peace my brother.

  • looking at the music and the rave scene and the way society was a bit more united I think the late 80s and early 90s was possibly the pinnacle of civilization in the west - or is it all alright still? At the centre of this song is a really deep meaning now you dont get that with Cowels Gibbons or the urban music ( what a diss to music ) that is around today with its squelchy base (base as in greed or lust - not Bass -) messages - cant wait for the hate mail from plastic gangsters !

  • shaftieboy, track down their 1990 LP 'look how long' and you won't be disapionted

  • will never forget this sound

  • agree! agree! AGREE!!!!!

  • clasic tune and band. yes real music was the order of the da back then. glad i was there and not fed crap like xfactor etc etc

    peace

  • I was on spring break from Howard U. when I went back to NJ and heard this track. I still have the audio tape of this album and it is a classic.

  • This got major airplay in the US back in

    1990-91.

  • Heh..I'm only 24 and I must say that this music is ALOT better than the crap they play 2day.

  • Your only 24, but im sure you can remember and appreciate great music like this.

Music in those days was made more for pleasure, now sadly its made for profit. the more the younger generation (10 to 14 year olds) accepts most of todays music as real music the more it will decline. Youtube is great because it reminds us of music that is quality over quantity, soon it will become apparent in todays music i hope.

  • same age as me, music back then had alot more meaning to it,

todays music has no life or meaning to it man, shit is trash

  • Here it is... The real SOUL. I have tryed to follow Loose Ends from the start and they realy could hold there own style. Just fantastic. Best regards Appel/Denmark

  • i was so gutted cos i was only around 10 - 11 when this period of music was so fressssh

british soul/hiphop /rave and indie all ruled and it was all informing each other to some degree -

  • I love british soul,, but i gotta ask you this question,, what does so gutted mean..

  • It loosely means 'dissapointed', excuse the pun. Great brit funk !!!.

  • "Loose Ends" and "Soul II Soul"; they compliment each other well, you know this tune and Soul II Soul's "Keep On Movin'" and "Back To Life"; God, I miss great house music!!! Take us back, they screwed us out of great dance music; give it back, give it back now!!!

  • love ol skool loose ends...but dis track was da jaam!!!...the best times growin up...i wonder if there was an actual clip 2 dis song?...."sort your life out"....bad!!

  • back in the day when whatever u tuned n2, radio/tv, it was slamming!

  • I miss those days. I wish music was more original. Some of these artists today are crappy. Time to go back to the basics.
