  • @GeoffreyStead dont put the dad back!!! putting the dad back = mega high chance of him eating the babies. just dont put him back. at all. separate the mom and the babies at about 6-7 weeks but defo before the 8th week. and separate boys from girls to stop inbreeding. WHY DID YOU BREED THEM WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE.

  • i thought it was really important to use a solid surface wheel in fear of the hedgehog will break a toe or two

  • hey, my hedgehog had babies 3 days ago and i decided to separate the dad from the mom and the babies just in case, was this a good idea? can i put him back? if so, when? when is a good idea to separate the babies from the mom into another cage, how old should they be? thanks.

  • @GeoffreyStead you shouldn't be breeding hedgehogs without the proper knowledge first...

  • @earthling1984 you shouldn't be answering my questions without an answer..

  • My breeder said you are support to take the wheel out when she had her babies

  • What about if she is like out already and you take her out and then start messing with the babies???

  • Do you own a pet shop?

  • do u take the male out of the cage one the female looks pregmate

  • WIRE WHEEL >:( I thought you would know not to have a wire wheel earthling they can get theyre feeties hurt :(

  • @lookoutacircle I know people say that all the time. I haven't had any problems to date in the years I have owned hedgehogs. But I know that is a common thing that people say is bad.

  • @earthling1984 do u take out the male when it looks like she is pregnet

  • do their spikes hurt?

  • @MrLysy1975 not really, especially if they are nice hedgehogs they will keep their 'spikes' back and down so they don't stick up and spike u. Never has a spike caused any bleeding, but they can give you a little prick if you get touched by them wrong.

  • how do you breed them and how do they have the babies?

  • Does it hurt to touch them?

  • @coopereltzroth no, not at all, once u get used to them. And if they are calm they keep their spikes back/down so they don't spike u at all.

  • Please get a better wheel. :(

  • do a vid on HOW TO BREED

  • was the mom a salt and pepper hedgehog

  • @pokemon10120 no, a pinto

  • @earthling1984 what happened to her pins? shes got like bald spots O.o sorry idk much about hedghogs....

  • those r some nice hedgehogs u have there do you sell them to pet stores

  • Throw them on the wall and lick thier blood! :D just kidding..nice hedgehog u got there ;)

  • what if you get the mom used to human scents so she wont or might eat em

  • why do baby hedgehogs anoint so much!? XD

  • When you do actually breed your hedgehogs, have ever had a litter where one hoglett was an albino?

  • @CrankshaftRabbit9164 no, not yet. None of my 'parent' hedgehogs are albino, so it would be unlikely(but not impossible) for them to have albino babies.

  • @earthling1984 Hmmm. And do you keep the babies or do you put them up for adoption? Because with all the liters you've shown off, you must have a lot of hedgies lol

  • @CrankshaftRabbit9164 I don't keep them all, I would have too many ;p

  • Hey! I'm gonna have a pair of hedgehogs probably this sunday.. :) I've been watching your videos of hedgies.. Do you think it's ok to breed them if they are year+ old(s)? I'm not sure if I'd like to breed them because I'm scared of what u said, that the babies might die same with the mother

  • The reason why they're curl up when you keep them on their backs is because you're exposing their weak spots, so they curl up. Get it? To protect themselves from predators.

  • making tea? :P

  • 2nd Hedgehog baby: NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM HUMAN

  • please change the wheel to a flat-based one. you do know their legs can get hurt right?

  • Heyy, I have a few hedgies that i am going to breed once they get old enough, is it true that the mommies get really grumpy and stay grumpy after you breed them?

  • @beautifulvengance breeding is not easy and can be very dangerous to your hedgehogs if not done correctly. The females also *need to be bred* by a certain age or their pelvis will fuse preventing them for giving birth in the future(meaning the babies get stuck inside and both the babies and mom die). If you want to do this, I suggest you do extensive research; however, I wouldn't recommend breeding hedgehogs.

  • you have aq wire wheel

  • where do u get a hedgehog ive been looking FOREVER but i can never find them . ): please help!

  • @XOvictoriaXO657 I got mine from a breeder. Check locally to see if there is a breeder in your area

  • @XOvictoriaXO657 I used hedgehogcentraldotcom, click breeder list, then USA, and look for your state. I hope you find one in your price range. I found a good breeder in Miami for $52 each. Good luck!

  • can u do one of thes for turtles becus the time im writing this comment its next

    saturday im getting baby turtles

  • @pokemon10120 i have some turtle care vids. check out my vid, 'before you buy a turtle watch this vid'

  • Are you a pet breeder?Omg I thought you were just an owner. xD

  • can i buy one from you i have been looking everywhere for one i want one very much

  • did your mom hedgehog eat the baby? and i love your vids!

  • do you make those plastic bin cages? how?

  • hey earthling where did you get your hedgehogs

  • @earthling1984- what's it like holding them? do their quills hurt, or are they just kind of soft.

  • @shorttyyloveee they can sting a bit from time to time, but they don't hurt too badly.

  • hi dude when the baby hedgehog licking you did it feel like being tickle at all?

  • @ltot11105 lol, i don't really remember :( maybe a bit, but i think their tongues may be a bit rough

  • @earthling1984 oh so like a cat?

  • On average, how much does a hedgehog cost to buy?

  • @PanderflyLUV between 75 and 250 or more.

  • do you have the monitors ?? never saw one in youre vids.

  • @BlCHIFY no, i decided not to take them, they were of a very inexpensive variety.

  • Getting one in 3 weeks

  • @MrNotARussian im geting one here soon he lives some where near me like a few hours 3 i think and he is going to call us its going to be a 401 or something cant wait i hope he has at last 1 hedgehog

  • i dont want to tell you how to take care of your hedgehogs but you should really switch to a plastic wheel beacsue somtimes their toes can get stuck in the mech and rip off!

  • do you sell them and if how muck are they

  • your bigger bearded dragon has markings on this belly which can mean he has a german giant gene on him which makes them bigger thanks

    Jack

  • @ReptileFr3ak really, are germans worth more? I'll have to look into this.

  • @earthling1984 Depends on how much German blood they have and their pigmentation

  • You need to get a bigger wheel :( They need a min. 11.5 in wheel or it will hurt there backs. Also it needs a solid bottom, cause theyre legs can get caught and break :(

  • @EdgarTheHedgar thanks for the tips.

  • @earthling1984 no problem :) I just got mine a week ago. researched about them for 2 months :) also be careful with wood chips. they can get stuck in the males "parts" and cause infection

  • i had a wheel for mine like yours and she hurt her leg because i got stcuk in the mesh of the wheel she is better now it was about a year and a half ago but i just want to make sure your hedgies stay safe when having fun on their wheels also a get a big wheel. after i changed from my mesh one we bought her a same size plastic one still to small mabye consider the biggest plastic wheel you can find of or whisper wheel i wanted to get mine a wisper wheel but i caould not get it shipped to canada

  • holy shit how does it feel when theyre getting born :///////////

  • @luv2rocknplayguitar Hey "iluv2rocknplayguitar" i can tell you this because my hedgehog just gave birth to 3 babies. Right after they born their were no hard spikes, just something look like toothpick but very soft. They have the size of half of an adult thumb, but still i wouldn't know how does it feel :s

  • The mom is so cute!!! Same as the babys!

  • What if you buy a baby hedgehog? will you still be able to pick it up?

  • @williamvan23 you can't purchase a hedgehog until they are usually 8 weeks old, and yes, by that time you can hold them all you want.

  • I really wish hedgehogs were available in Australia, along with chinchillas, gerbils and tortoises and that rabbits and ferrets were allowed to be kept legally in QLD. Siiigh. Lol.

  • How big do they grow? And how long do they live for? Nice video by the way:) i live in california and i heard they were illegal here,is that true?

  • @MrSakrr they are illegal in California. They grow to about the size of a baseball or softball, some being larger than others. They live on average for 4 to 6 years, sometimes longer.

  • I watched a few other hedgehog handling videos and the other people were handling babies way younger than yours. Probably not smart. You seem to know your stuff.

  • @Jirmasek Thanks! And you are correct, it is not smart to handle them until about 10 days to 2 weeks.

  • Do you have cockatiels too? I have seven, and I'm thinking of adding some hoglets to the bunch...

  • 2 things i see rong 1 the whell there feet can get stuck in the little squares and there leg will break

2 the water they can chip there teeth by sucking on the thing

note im not telling u ur doing ur job wrong i just wanted to no

  • @countrymodel101 I've heard about the wheels, but I've never had a problem with them myself, and I've owned lots of pets, never had a problem with mesh whels. As for the water bottle, that is just silly. Sure they could chip their tooth on it, but that could happen from biting the side of a metal cage or ceramic food dish. That is really trivial... water bottles are much easier to keep and provide a clean water source for them without getting dirty like a water dish would.

  • what state do u live in?

  • Aww...cute babies. Where's the father?

  • @Jirmasek in a different cage

  • which one is sonic?

  • really cute

  • @graciesworld43 they sure are :) thanks for commenting!

  • i love this!!! soo adorable!

  • gay

  • @cambo1998 your gay?

  • @earthling1984 shut up, cant someone just love animals

  • I heard a kettle at the end.

  • dude its sonic and shadow and silver

  • @kailashpaul3 hehe :)

  • @kailashpaul3 No, dude. It's Sonic, Manic, and Sonya. (There brothers and sisters)

  • so cute love them

  • r u a vet or just study animals?

  • @polkadottedponys I just love animals. I have worked at a vets office in the past, but I am not a vet.

  • @earthling1984 that is so cool good luck! :)

  • @polkadottedponys Thanks

  • do the adults stink?

  • @kadinpwn999 not at all...of course any animal(including humans) can stink if their home/cage isn't kept clean. But hedgehogs have no bad smell as long as cage is kept clean.

  • @earthling1984 thanks

  • @earthling1984 can you still handle the mom and where can i buy one of thses don't really see em in my country

  • @kailashpaul3 yes, the mom can be handled. Hedgehogs are sometimes hard to find. Some pet shops have them, or find a local breeder. Hedgehogs are illegal in some states/countries so you should check on that too.

  • Where do you live?? If it's in or close to Northern new jersey my friend is looking for a breeder, if you sell them idk

  • hey i was wondering if you live in California because i would really like to buy a hedgehog

  • @PEACEMAKER208 Hedgehogs are not legal to own in California.

  • @earthling1984 yes i know ! do i have to get a permit cause i dont want to get one and get fined and get it taken cause i might die!! dont want that

  • @PEACEMAKER208 I don't think you can own them at all in California. I don't believe California offers a permit to own them.

  • What would happen if the mom didnt acxept them after you touch it?

  • this just beats all...... they are so little and people seem to be crazy about them and every kid wants one! Good job!

  • @GreatLash75 Thanks for the nice comment!

  • do your hedgehogs go in to hibernation? and that kindof container do you keep them in thank :)

  • @TheEpicFailMaster No, you should not let your hedgehogs hibernate. You need to keep consistant/warm temperature all year.

  • show me how to clip a hedgehogs nails

  • You should name 3 of them Silver, Shadow, and Sonic! LOL!

  • I wonder how hedgehog tastes like?

  • where did you get the hedgehogs

  • Are you even allowed to give "Expert" advice like this? 'cos you really talk in detail and its also almost like you're giving precise directions.

  • @lcbesowicked of course I am allowed to share my thoughts and ideas of how to care for animals.

  • so cute

  • there so cute :)

  • do you think that if you're hedgehog is familiar with your smell (handled a lot), that she would not disband or eat her babies should you handle one of them too early?

  • @7Diz7 it has nothing to do with how much she hedgehog likes you, although that *might* help her leave the baby alone with the new smells. It is best not to touch hedgehog babies for at least 2 weeks after they are born.

  • @earthling1984 Have you made the mistake before of handling too early?

  • @7Diz7 ALL babies that have been born here have lived to adulthood and been just fine. I have never had a mom kill her babies. I do wait usually at least 7 to 10 days before touching the babies at all.

  • @earthling1984 That's good. They are very cute, you are lucky to have something like that! I hope to eventually have some hegdehogs too.

  • thnx u where alot of help! i will try and post a vid of them soon! :D ty

  • about one week old

  • @HamsterzRock777 well they need their mom till about a month old, so you would need to feed them for the next 3 weeks at least, every couple hours with some good baby cat milk / mix.

  • hi i rescued three hedgehog babies and need some help, the mother ran away because of the stress in our garden (we are doing some consturcting) i feed them every 4 hours with goats milk. dont worry we called the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and they said to feed and look after them, so any advise would really help! thx :3

  • @HamsterzRock777 how old do they appear to be?

  • why would the mom be mad if you pick up her babies? you are her owner...why would she do that?

  • @wildstyled it is very common for animals to protect their young.

  • you are lucky to have such an interesting and diverse collection of animals, if you lived close to me id be at your house everyday checking out the family.

  • @catcrapinahat hehe thanks :) it sure is fun to have all these different pets!

  • @earthling1984 lol me too! I'd be over at your house all day every day just to play with your pets haha!

  • @wildstyled hehe:)

  • so are you a breeder or sumthing

btw how much does it cost u a month to keep all these pets

  • awh! they're so cute! my hedgehog, prick, might be pregnant. i hope so! (:

  • is the noise in the backround the hedgehogs?

  • Do you selll hedgehogs?

  • Heyy... Do you sell hedgehogs?

  • great video but you do know you're not supposed to have a wheel like that for hedgehogs right? hedgehogs break their feet a lot in those wheels.. you should look into getting a solid one

  • i know about the 'fears' of broken toes and legs. I use smal mesh wheels and haven't had a problem. Single bar wheels are worse. But I do agree with you, for three times the cost, solid plastic wheels will eliminate the issue.

  • I love hedge hogs

  • The baby hedgehog was about to self-anoint in around 4:05 but thnx anyways hoping to get a female hedgehog to breed with my male

  • adorable :] i can't wait to go get mine

  • thats so cute i want one

  • so, you can keep them in tanks?

I read they need good ventilation and that tanks aren't really recommended?

  • if you watch my videos, you will notice there are NO covers on the hedgehog tanks. Open air top. They are too clumsy to climb out. On my other tubs, such as the STO and Reptile tubs, I drill many many holes for ventilation. Tubs can be bad, if used improperly!

  • It's amazing how much larger the male bearded dragon is compared to the female. I hope to get a beardie one day in the future, and based upon your two I for sure want a male, hehe.

  • Yeah, from my experience so far the male grows larger/faster than the female, however, I don't know if the female will catch up in size over time.. she might... but I do think males get slightly stockier, larger head as well. So if you want larger, get a male I guess :)

  • Dude you got a Zoo going on there :0) Still, interesting vids! I used to have a 12 foot Burmese.

  • are you going to sell the hegehog babies?

  • Did you order them already? Oh yah you are gonna need a big set-up and they are agrassive NO? I take it you are getting a male and female I just can imagine what your feeding bill will be now with those monitors oh wait you have breeders...lol...Did you get them from kingsnake

  • I pmed you.

  • So cute especially the 2nd one licking your hand WOW you are getting monitors I cant wait to see those I have been really thinking hard about getting a tegu they seem sweet nature...cant wait to see the new addition to your collection when are you expecting them

  • Should have them by friday. So hopefully vids up this weekend. Gonna need a HUGE cage ;p I need to move!!!

  • Those are too cute. Awesome video! They look like mini versions of the mom :P

  • Thanks :)

  • make a vid on them biting you in the face jk

  • A hedgehog... nah, they got teeth.. but a snake... maybe ;p

  • can u do a vid on how to breed

  • Sure. I will try to make a breeding video soon. I will do it when I swap the breeding pair cage. I keep the breeding pair together for 10 days. They have been together about 5 days now, and their cage is getting dirty. So when I clean their cage I will make the video about how to breed them. Probably tomorrow or thursday.

  • Are the spines soft at a young age?

  • Spines are fairly soft for the first week... they have become harder now. The babies are VERY LIGHT, however, so even though they do have pretty pointy spikes, it doesn't hurt at all to pick them up. The trick is to get them super nice as babies, so when they are older they will be calm and not raise their spikes at humans. The first 2 months are critical to get them used to humans. But you don't want to over hold them either because they are young babies and need food from their mom often.

  • Thanks, thats very interesting, even if I don't have hedgehogs.

  • i find these vids very entertaining even though im not really interested in pets all that much. 5* vid though awesome

  • Thanks :)
