the part of the debate alot of people dont realize is that big oil has never had a competitor and is unregulated oil has never had to compete competition will drop those high gas prices like a box of hot rocks
I think ethanol is economically stupid. You're getting taxed because of the subsidies and you're paying for it at the station. You're paying for it TWICE.
hemp has the highest level of cellulose more than any other plant instead of using a food source like corn use hemp and combine that with E-85 engines that would save our need for oil by 85% and stop the inflation of food prices from rising...
If Ethanol was so great they wouldn't need the subsidizes in the first place. Hydrogen is the future, we should be subsidizing business to come up with new energy means. yet i think Hydrogen is better
$92 billion subsidy is what the IISD estimates US taxpayers will pay 2006-2012 to make ethanol. Ethanol is corrosive, dissolves rubber and plastics, absorbs water which corrodes metals, causes inconsistent engine performance, is conductive, has only 70% of the gasoline energy value, has a 90 day shelf-life in gas tanks, decomposes older fiberglass gas tanks, and takes more energy to make than it produces.
MYTH: In terms of emissions, ethanol pollutes the same as gasoline or more.
FACT: Ethanol results in fewer greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions than gasoline and is fully biodegradable, unlike some fuel additives.

It doesn't matter what biomass you pick. All biofuels are a bad idea. Asside from "maybe" algae. But we don't even know if thats gonna work.

And even then Solar is still hundreds of times better.
