I've got a 'sde' model on its way. I'm going to go with a good 'ol fashioned non-preload type stainless tamper for now, but what size is best? I e-mailed cust. support, and they have not yet responded . . . . Also, I was reading thru the PDF manual on 1st Line's site, and it says to use no detergents - to backflush basically like you did in the vid. Can you use detergents? How about descaling the machine? Lots of questions . . . . .
@SpressoHead A 58mm tamper will be perfectly fine. Good call on the regular tamper! I used detergent on my BZ once a week but water only backflush daily after using the machine. I had no trouble with this routine. Descaling is simple with a tank machine, especially HX style. Just add the proper amount of detergent to the resevoir and run through. You will have to cylce a lot of fresh water afterwards to clean it out of course. GL!
@sprssoguy Actually, a cappuccino is a style of drink - meaning there is a cap of foam over the steamed milk. A latte has all micro-foam. Thanks for watching and commenting though! Cheers!
I got this machine a few months ago and I get leaks from the group head about 50% of the time. I don't know what the problem is , its a brand new machine. Also, where did you get the naked portafilter?
@modernman208 I'm not 100% sure but I think its the seal between the group and pf. If I put the pf really tight it barely leaks, just a few drops maybe.
@ldog750cc sounds correct. i had the same issues with mine, but only with the chopped PF. The OEM PF never leaked. I do know it was pretty sensitive to having a clean gasket. Try using a gasket brush and if that doesn't work, replace the gasket.
@ldog750cc sorry to get back to you so late. I got the PF at 1st line when I bought the machine. It was a little leaky though at times. Hope that helps!
I've got the same setup. The grouphead gasket will get very hard and brittle, causing big leaks, if you keep your portafilter locked in all the time. I had to replace mine within a year.
Just got my BZ07 and Vario this week. Can I ask you what size tamper you use? I got mine from 1st Line and they sent me a 58mm tamper but it gets stuck.
It can brew and steam at same time easily. The pump, however, may turn on in the middle of it dropping your brew pressure temporarily. Generally not a problem. The 07 has enough power to steam the milk before the shot is done with ease, so long as your not steaming for more than 2 drinks.
Since I poured it straight into a latte, I couldn't give a good report. It was a good latte though;) Wasn't one of my better shots sadly, but I just wanted to share with the coffee community. Thanks for watching and good luck picking out your new machine!
Most importantly what did it taste like? Looks like your shot went for 50sec which is very long. Otherwise I enjoyed watching, I'm hoping the BZ07 will be my next machine.
Thankx for the quik response! The way I read your message, though, it sounds like you no longer have the machine?

@ldog750cc Does it leak from the group head or the group head gasket (seal between the group and PF)?

@modernman208 Ill replace the gasket. I've had that problem since the first day and I've always cleaned it with the gasket brush.

I could never pull a tight shot on mine. It leaks even if the shot is just a little tight. By the way where did you get the naked portafilter?

backfush after every shot? A quick flush is enough...

Very nice :) I've got a BZ02 on the way, and will be complementing it with a Vario ASAP. Can't wait to get in on this action!
Have you ever tried steaming and brewing at the same time? I wonder how well the machine handles that.
