He blatantly ripped this song of Bobby Caldwell without getting permission. what a rookie. Bobby Caldwell and Bruce Malament (RIP) are the real gangstas Dwele owes them some fat royalties.
Actually, Dilla produced Commons The Light, as well as most of Like Water for Chocolate, with the exception of The 6th Sense, which was produced by DJ Premier. I personally, like the version on Dweles album. Peace!
Bobby Caldwell did the original back in the late 70's or very early 80's. (lyrics included). Common sampled the track for "The Light." in the 90's. Platinum Pied Pipers feat. Dwele on vocals did this version in early 2002 compilation album and then (because of its popularity in my opinion) Dwele re-recorded again for his solo album last year.... personally my favorite is the Platinum Pied Piper version, the one uploaded on this feed. All the versions are cool to me. its a great song!
This is Bobby Caldwell's song Open your eyes. Common sampled this song too from Bobby Caldwell in his song The Light. I like Dwele version but I think I like the original a little better.
this is incorrect, this is the platinum pied piper version which was a 12" single that never appeared on any of either tripleP's or dwele's albums. dwele redid it on his newest album Sketches of a Man.
First off dumb ass,how would I know who told you anything. If you did not post such stupid comments no one would have to tell you anything.Trying to get smart only makes you sound more like an idiot!
And there is a difference between "stupid" and "ignorance." Ignorance is when you do not know something, and I was unaware that this was a remake of a song by Bobby Coldwell. Thanx!!!
Don't forget that white boy Bobby Caldwell did this first. It's BAD!!! I'm an old head so I have to inform y'all about the boy. Both versions are good but remember Bobby Caldwell "What You Won't Do For Love" guy back in the 70's.
listening to this just brings peace throughout my whole body-lovin it

Hehe . . . soooo funny ! !
There are arguments raging on related pages bout whether Dwele or Bobby Caldwell do better versions and as to who sounds Black etc etc
But I reckon this guy SOUNDS WHITE . . . . ! !
in fact he sounds JUST like Robin Thicke , - very , very much
So in my opinion that blows the stupid arguments out of the water
WHO GIVES A FLYING *@*@ what colour the artist is .
.- just enjoy the talent is what I say . .
