emp is so op. Its basically the equivalent of protoss' storm except no 200/200 research and it can be cast by a tier 2 unit instead of tier 3. Also better than storm since it absorbs 100 shields isntantly while storm is 80 damage over time.

im protoss, and honestly, no matter what build i go, if i go against ghosts i get owned. the emp is just so op imo, at least against P. and dont tell me to feedback ghosts, cuz thats hard as hell to do (since i have to target the individual unit before the ghost just uses the emp- which is aoe and thus much easier to use). @benzinator11 I'd say feedback is your only choice. Nothing but feedback can get rid of that EMP. Also I think templars have longer range to feedback/psi storm than ghosts can EMP so you should be able to get the spells out before the emp can hit.
@benzinator11 You can only feedback. It's the same as Psi Storm though; you can't stop it unless you snipe them (or EMP them but for some reason, they are usually out of range due to the AI pathing).

Rine/Raud/Ghost against Collo counter would only require lockdown, emp, and some stimmed marauders to make the build completely useless. It would also make the ghost a little too powerful as they naturally deal heavy damage against light units, can emp, and then would further be able to take out heavy units by locking down.
This build will just get demolished by a 4 gate toss player : /
If toss goes straight for his warpgate tech(not as this one),adds 3 more gates in the moment he sees your kind of wall-in, he can go for a HUGE push starting at 5:50 mark (thats about the time the warpgate tech finishes) and he will just kill you :).
In my opinion, you should only get ghosts when you see, that the toss guy is going 4 Immortals or later on HTs, so you dont end up having kinda no army to defend.

This isn't that good a build. The protoss wasn't defensive enough. He clumped his units when he knew there was an EMP loose. And he didn't build photon cannons. Not to mention the observer saw the marines/ghost and could have gone with some stalker/sentries... Scanner Sweep doesn't last forever.

IF HE SAW YOUR TEC, the LEAST he could've done was to better micro the ramp,
he just stacked everything together and waited for the EMP
closer scouting probe next to his ramp so he could've prevented you from climbing the ramp for just a little while more for colossi.
in Brood War, I had to use stacked drones to cross the ramp right at the moment that zealots or lings were trying to come up, then hit stop so that stacked units would mess everything up
Just wanted to thank you for putting this up! I'm only in copper ladder so maybe it's not saying much, but since learning your build I'm 8-0 against Protoss. I used to have so much trouble with Void Rays too!
It is a nice build; however your opponent must have been silver league or weaker.
One of the most common Terran strategies against Protoss is a 2-gate robo (Robotics Bay at 27 supply for the Colossus tech). (S)He should have had a 9-range Colossus out by at least 40 supply; thus could have fought you off LONG before your first push.
In addition (s)he bunched his/her structures in one ball; which means even if a nuke went off and killed 0 probes it would destroy (and unpower) all of his/her Pylons. In addition, balling up allows 1 single scan to see everything (and there is no Protoss wall-in to speak of).
By the 40-50 mark (especially without any aggression, because you gave him/her none) the Protoss player should have expanded (even without going for an econ build).
I know it works on buildings, but I'm talking about the people who literally have a wall of cannons (the people who put +8 cannons around a group of pylons) not just a few cannons here and there spread out. Some people have cannon fetishes. Have you ever gone against people like this with that strat?
@Azralynn If your opponent is massing cannons, you automatically gain map control with a superior army. Contain him and expand, don't rush into mass cannons until you're ready.
@timcago you just gotta target the dots underneath the voidrays. when air units move, you should see a dotted vertical line connecting them to their corresponding points on the ground. target those points instead of the voidrays themselves and it works like normal.

@cainmosni01 The Ghost's EMP ability doesn't need an enemy target, you can click it on terrain, like the author did, and it will expose cloaked units and drain shields if they're right on target. EMP exposes units for a couple seconds, so you have to act quick to kill the observer.
