  • This is a tailwhip, all you people thinking its a "footjam tailwhip", what is that? Your all thinking of "hopwhips" or bunnywhips...

  • mano, essa manobra, eu to aprendendo.

    daoraaa

    vlw!

  • Nice :) if u got time please check out my edit? I'm not that good but gimme a chance :D

  • footjam whip !! hhahahahahhahahahahahahahahhaha

  • good old history lesson there :) :LLLLL

  • clearly a whipjam tail foot

  • @brazilianEYEreportU

    footjam tailwhip you idiot :D

  • nice one

  • correction can jam tail whip okey!!!

  • footjam whip is somthing a fail kid does cuz they cant do a tail whip.

  • @deepsub317 Or something flatlanders do a decade before modern "tail whips" existed.

  • @Guav fwi that was for bmxdudee.i was backing you up. and i would love to see him put a vid of it up. footjam whip tail whip whatever you want to call it the tail is still whiping around, so what is the big deal?

  • @deepsub317 Gotcha :)

  • Nice footjam whip!!

  • @SuperTerryPrice Thanks!

  • hahaha lol i'm gonna record me doing a footjam tailwhip, call it ''tailwhip'', get lots of wievs and copy your description.... thanks man ! :D

    haha lol....

  • coool

  • Wow I sucked at spelling in that comment though xD

  • People on YouTube need to grow a dick and stop saying noon for fucks sake. He made a video and clearly stated in the video info what a tailwhip and what a footjam is. I don't ride bmx but I'm not a retard. He put this video up because he though it was funny and thought it would be cool to put it on here for peoe to see. But all you fuckheads take YouTube so seriously, give him a break.

  • @avin67 Thank you. What's funny is that the video was up for like 2 years before all of a sudden everyone started coming saying "That's not a tailwhip, you n00b"—I assume it got posted on some message board or something. That's what prompted me to write the info. People are odd.

  • i used to do these on my gt dyno compe, also look great with a decade after!

  • these aren't very hard at all.

  • @TheBrandonWeir Nobody said they were.

  • @Guav Just a comment, not an insult.

  • @TheBrandonWeir Gotcha.

  • nice flatland bike

  • Definitely a tailwhip, and a good one too.! I rode in 80's also. Just started up again in 2009. I go thru the same stuff with people commenting on my tailwhip video also. Check out my channel sometime. I have a couple vids of some old school tricks on my newer DK Opsis . Peace

  • @fatkaw10 Thanks!

  • actually im wrong as hell, ur right ignore my other comment i just commented, the jumping into a whip was actually called an aerial tailwhip because the original one was just a tailwhip because it was invented before the tailwhip. i just read ur info box, and i feel like a fuckin idiot, my apologies, but i still will call it a footjam tailwhip because thats just what im used to. sorry peace.

  • @MCjrotcbluedevils Apology accepted, and you SHOULD call it a footjam tailwhip, because that is it's correct contemporary name.

I've never argued that current riders calling it a footjam tailwhip are incorrect, I've just taken exception to the current riders who come here, perhaps not knowing BMX ancient history, and call me a n00b and/or tell me I am wrong for just referring to it as a tailwhip.

I agree it's a dumb thing to be arguing about—I didn't start the argument.

    Take care :)

  • in acuality there is no point in arguing over a name, im clearly in a different generation of biking than you, i dont even flatland, i bike street, were both bikers, there should be no argument, u call it what u want and ill call it what i want.

  • @Guav i guess the guy who bunnyhopped and kicked and whiped the bike around and landed on it was a total fuckin idiot because he named that a tailwhip as well. i guess theres two tailwhips, i dont care none the less there both cool looking tricks

  • lol at the end 'ow'

  • go get em Guav, these guys are tools,

  • @Guav its not 1980 to 1982, its 2010, and we call it a footjam tailwhip

  • @MCjrotcbluedevils You can call it whatever you want--call it a Triple Fartface, I don't care--I'll continue to call it by it's original name that THE PERSON WHO INVENTED IT named it. I'm not telling you newer riders you're wrong and you can't update names, but don't come here and tell me I don't know what I'M talking about.

  • @stee997 it is not a whiplash a whiplash ur standing on ur front peg, still rolling but the bike does the same function, it is a flatland bmx trick. however it is not a tailwhip, a tail whip you must bunnyhop or bronco in the air and kick ur frame around ur bars and forks, so @guav ur a lil wrong urself. it is a footjam tailwhip.

  • @MCjrotcbluedevils No, I am not "wrong," please read the video info.

  • this is a pinky sykueak and without brake is a whipflash

  • @stee997 It is NOT a Pinky Squeak or a Whiplash, it is a Tailwhip or Footjam Tailwhip.

Search YouTube for "Matt Wihelm - How to Tailwhip" and "Ground Rules DVD- HOW TO Whiplash" and "Ground Rules DVD- HOW TO Pinky Squeak" and educate yourself please.

  • foot jam tail whip tell me if im wrong

  • @dinosaursarelegit You are not wrong—in modern BMX terminology, it is referred to as a "footjam tailwhip." When it was invented in the 80's, it was called simply a "tailwhip."

  • @Guav thanks

  • yes is tailwhip =D Exelent

  • Well said in ur description so all u hatred should stop way ur doin and read a BMX history book

  • dude, the describtion, read the WHOLE thing, Im 14, ive veen riding since i was 6, and even i KNEW what it meant. some people are just idiots bro.

  • nice

  • this is NOT tailwhip!!!!this is WHIPLASH

  • @2nikitos you ARE a moron!!!!and have NO IDEA what you are talking about

  • @2nikitos wtf? whiplash? its a fucking footjam tailwip u dick

  • @2nikitos THIS IS A FOOTJAM TAILWHIP! WHIPLASH IS WHEN YOU STAND ON THE PEG

  • @2nikitos its a tailwhip dipshit

  • @2nikitos WHIPLASH??? do you even ride? this is a tailwhip, i was doing them in the 80s, before you were born im sure.

  • They still used "big" sprocets in 2005 ?

  • @Vanspwners It's a 34t sprocket, which is what came stock on the GT Shows, which were made from 1997-2000.

  • I am an old school rider and this trick my friends is called a "Tailwhip." It has always been called a tailwhip, just the same as a GYRO is actually a fuckin Roter, I hate new kids coming along and making up new names for shit that has been around since before they were born, then they have the nerve to call this guy a noob? Point blank it's a fuckin tailwhip. So maybe next time I'll tell em where they can jam their foot.

  • you're right, at the begining what they call a "tailwhip" was a "tailwhip air"...simple...

  • thats a whiplash smart one

  • @ibanezforlife465 No, actually, it's not.

  • Lol...Actually I found you vid looking for a TAILWHIP which is to me what you are doing, no wonder why I mentioned my 9 yr old Son the word tailwhip when we watch this trick somewhere else, and he just looked at me kind of confused and didn't say anything. I'll ask him how he calls it.

Remember the SKYWAY Tuff wheels, HARO MASTER, etc?

  • @utubo1 Kids! Haha

  • it's a fj whip.

  • @jaytjuh575 You should learn how to read.

  • @Guav i don't mean it bad. but now you know fj is footjam and whip is tailwhip. So... if you change the name to FJwhip or Footjam whip or something.. you don't get those stupid comments anymore...

  • @jaytjuh575 But I ALREADY KNEW that new kids called this a footjam, and I don't care. I'm not a new kid, I'm an old school rider, and old school riders call this a tailwhip because that's what it's inventor named it. And I will ALWAYS call it a Tailwhip even if new riders decide next year that it's going to be called a Swirly-Gig--I just don't care all that much what new riders want to rename the old tricks as :)

  • Its a footjam.

  • @volcanochr You're a fucking moron.

  • Guav knows what hes talking about. I rode in the early 80's myself and I also did a tour with brian blyther. Great lesson on the evolution of tailwhilps dude.

  • Its a stoppy whip

  • I'm learning this trick now and this vid helps. Thanks for the upload.

  • @JACKPERRY619 Hahaha you people are hilarious.

  • thats a footjam tailwhip

  • @elijah1371 What a moron you are.

  • flat land trick called whiplash. i bmx dun flatland idk y flatlanding looks sick but its gay theres no danger bmxing u risk it all i broke my bike frame from a 20 ft fall once it was like LMFAO moment

  • @MashamiTrend No, a whiplash is forward ROLLING version of this, done on the pegs.

And riding isn't about danger, it's about fun. For some people danger IS the fun, for others, it's not.

  • @Guav yeahh lmfaoo i kno i can do that trick n im like 13 but like u cant really use that trick fro bmxing except on the lip of ramps or somthing like iv seen people go up a quatur pipe do a super man to a stoppie footjam and go back it and thats amazing, but yeahh i just like bmxing more it givesw me a rush

  • It was 88 at the AFA nationals that Joe Johnson did the tail whip air for the first time in public...the crowd went nuts...it was crazy seeing the first tail whip air ever performed in a contest....I ended up going home and learning to do tail whip jumps that year...never able to do them on ramp tho

  • nice trick and who was the first person to do a bunnyhop tailwhip?

  • Nice tailwhip!

  • lol.. excactly the same vid but u dont fall in this one

  • Indeed it did used to be called a tailwhip, but as you say, a tailwhip is now a trick in the air, and this trick is a footjam tailwhip, so here in 2009 the video is incorrectly titled :).

  • But that's my point—it's NOT incorrectly titled. I am doing a trick I learned in 1986 or 1987. The trick is called a tailwhip. You guys can take the names of tricks invented in the 80's and apply them to current tricks—but us old farts are going to apply them to the original tricks. As far as we're concerned, you guys are the ones who are wrong to call today's trick a tailwhip. You shoulda thought up your own names :)

  • yep he is right cheated

  • You skate and ride a fucking RAZOR SCOOTER—you're opinion is irrelevant.

  • well i was joking i do it the same way u do lol

  • Haha ok :)

  • well said mate scooters are gay

  • footjam tailwhip.

  • The idiots keep trickling in ...

  • im just saying. geez u dont have to be an ass about it.

  • Maybe if you bothered to read the video info or any of the other comments left here you'd understand why I have to be an ass about it. You're a bit late to the party.

  • well still i was just saying..

  • You were "just saying" something that:

    1. Isn't necessarily true, and

    2. Has already been said by dozens of people before you.

    Pay attention.

  • okok. whatever.

  • omg u cheater...jk jk...and thats a footjam tailwhip

  • Come on man, seriously?

  • kick it harder ..

  • i can do it sometimes but i cant kick it hard enough any tips ??

  • whats better a gt fly 09 or a gt bump 09 and are they good

  • "THAT'S A FOOTJAM TAILWHIP N00B,"

  • Haha if you want to be politically correct then yes it is but there are 2 types of tailwhips both called tailwhips one is arieal one is flatland...

  • ur a footjam tailwhip

  • read the description prick.

  • I'm bad at math.

  • your info bit makes you seem like a nerd

  • I know, but I only put it up after people kept leaving stupid comments, I got tired of repeating myself and hoped they'd read it before being the 57th person to tell me "THAT'S A FOOTJAM TAILWHIP N00B," but it didn't work. Oh well.

  • and to everyone else, yes, this trick was called a whiplash back in the day.

  • Hahaha ... way to showcase your ignorance after trying to "school" me. The trick in my video was NEVER—I repeat, never—called a Whiplash. A Whiplash is a forwards rolling tailwhip done on the pegs.

  • it's not the 1980s anymore brah!

times change, as well as tricks.

therefore, it's 2009, and that is a footjam whip.

and if you want to get technical, that wasn't even a proper "footjam whip". you lost balance, and caught your frame instead of whiping, then hopping onto your pedals.

  • I didn't lose my balance, that's how tailwhips were done back in the day—you caught the frame with your foot, you didn't hop onto the pedals. You guys don't get it—this is an old FLATLAND trick that was basically over by '87. You don't get to dictate how it's "supposed" to be done.

I know it's not the 80's anymore, but if you guys decide to start calling Decades "Abubacas," I'm still gonna call them Decades.

  • Footjam tailwhip. thats pretty good. Might be nice if u changed the name.. makes no difference tho

  • A bit late for that, I posted the video 3 years ago :)

  • The description for this video is extremely awesome. It totally sets straight all the 10 year old kids on youtube who are like "ohh nooooo tht wsnt da tlwhp, thts *insert any other trick here (normally a 'whiplash)*"

Great trick, I still mess up on them.

  • Yup, I love it when people correct me and tell me it's a whiplash. At least the people calling it a footjam tailwhip are correct. This trick was never called a whiplash.

  • jesus christ ur a douchebag.

first of all u cant whiplash for shit

second of all nobody gives a shit about bmx history, thats a shitty version of a whiplash.

grow a dick and do it properly, then post a vid of that

    pussy

  • If you don't give a shit about old school riding, then don't watch my videos, you stupid moron. It's just that simple.

  • its not even a whiplash, now its called a footjam tailwhip. fucking gorm

  • it was a footjam tailwhip -.- and not even a complete one ur sapposed to jump in and land back on both pedals.

  • God, you're boring. And so original!

  • what? lol

  • thats eather a whiplash or a fire hidrean if i get it wrong its because im only 9

  • A whiplash is a rolling tailwhip, and I have a video posted of me doing a fire hydrant, which is something related, but not the same. What I am doing is called a tailwhip if you're old school, or a footjam tailwhip if you're a current rider.

  • for you it is a tailwhip. and cuz of you history note it seems clear to me. But i rather like to call it a footjamwhip.

  • Yeah, It's perfectly accurate to call it a footjam tailwhip—I'm not saying it's not.

  • 0:01

  • 0:01

  • Its called a whiplash.

  • No, a Whiplash is a rolling version of this.

  • you should block all the idiots who didnt read the description. nice history lesson there. im like that, but with skateboarding. and im only 12, i just did a lot of skating history searchin.

  • ya a whiplash is on pegs

  • dude, i applaud your knowledge of bmx, nice article in the desription. since you are a fellow bmx rider who started way earlier than i did, i respect you.

but! you cannot deny that you should also spend more time riding instead of arguing on youtube.

most of these noobs don't read the description and are merely looking for an argument. and it is your reactions that give them purpose. so you must just be looking for an argument too

by the way, i know that i should also be out riding right now ;)

  • I should definitely ride more, but for what it's worth, I only reply to these youtube comments when I'm at work, so even if I didn't reply at all, I couldn't use that time to ride anyway.

I certainly wasn't looking for an argument when I posted these videos—they were up for years before all of a sudden all these kids, probably linked from somewhere, started insulting me—but the truth is that I don't mind arguing with them.

It breaks up the day :)

  • FAGGOT

  • haha nice man

  • hahahahah wot a noob

hes been riding since 1985 and thats the best trick he can do hahahaha

ive been riding for less then a year and i can do that

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • The irony of you continuing to call someone who was riding in 1985 a "noob" is astounding.

Who said it was the best trick I could do? I haven't been riding SINCE 1985, I rode from 1985 to 1990. All I can do now are tricks I knew 19 years ago.

I'm not trying to impress you, and I could really give a flying fuck about what tricks you can or cannot do.

  • Comment removed

  • hahahahaahahha

sick how in your life story you wrote

    ''i started riding in 1985''

    not

''I started riding in 1985 and stopped in 1990''

    hahahahahahahaaha

    NOOB NOOB NOOB NOOB NOOB

  • this is sweet what kind of BMX

  • GT Show

  • im still workin on my tailwhip i cant seem to kick out right.

    who fast was you going?

  • Rofl I love how you freak out over the dumbest shit. I said you should at least hop into it, not stick your foot over like a scared little bitch. I didn't care about anything else. You don't even hop onto the pedals you put your foot on the frame... And these kids are right, that isn't a tailwhip.

  • I'm not freaking out, I'm amused that all you new jacks who think you're the authorities on BMX don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about.

I didn't set out to make an awesome video—I was just riding for the first time in 15 years and my wife decided to shoot some videos. Sorry I wasn't a bunnyhop tailwhip over a rail or something, but they didn't do that shit in 1986.

Actually, no, I'm not sorry. I ride to have fun, not to impress anybody.

  • Well said. Don't know why anyone would want to argue with you over this vid...Kinda gay.

  • I don't understand either—especially since this video was up for two years before all of a sudden dozens of people started commenting telling me I was a "noob" and that it wasn't a tailwhip. I guess it got posted or linked somewhere. Maybe they should spend more time riding and less time on YouTube harrassing old-schoolers just having fun.

  • This is a tailwhip you douche bag

  • nop :P

  • Nice.

    It's the old school whip.

    :)

  • at least hop into it, idc about anything else..

  • I'm not bragging about my amazing skills with this video, I had just started riding again after a 15 year break and was re-learning old tricks. Don't tell me how I should or should not enjoy myself and have fun—nobody is forcing you to watch the video.

  • at least have a video of you doing a tailwhip.

  • not a tail whip

  • It was before you were born, sorry.

  • do you use the brakes?? sorry i'm a beginner on this...

  • I do, but brakes are not necessary for this.

  • wow youve been riding for 24 years and you have accomplished that, not dissing you or anything but i learnt that trick on a friends bike in a few days just messing around, i dont even like bikes but the way that you act like your better then everyone because you have been riding for so long is not actually a correct statement.

  • I'm not acting like I'm better than anyone. I just posted the video and then had dozens of dickheads come here and call me a noob and claim I used the wrong name for the trick.

I only explained when I started riding as a response to that—I call it by it's original name, and if they themselves weren't newer riders, they'd have known that. I was being insulted, so I replied, defending myself.

I started riding in 85, then stopped in 90. Started riding again in 05. I only do old tricks.

  • ok thanks for the explaination, i understand now, it was fairly good anyways =]

  • So just because he wants a clip of him doing a tailwhip that is the only thing he can do? lolol Really good logic

  • I am so going to ace that. What model bike?

  • It's a 2001 GT Show.

  • . .and I am So curious what Model bike this is??

I have a Haro 540 air Dave Mirra and I think the frame is too heavy. What bike would you recommend for Flatlanding? Thank you much!

  • u sock man!

BUY a Haro ( the best bmx)

  • Guav, Very clean indeed! I appreciate this so much, because I have been trying for that for a while, and i know what a challenge and frustration it can be to get this trick. My hats off to you sir... Added on myspace, FlatLander! Again awesome Job!!! SKILLS no doubt! 5 Star!

  • hey man i was just wondering, why did you write 'no doubt' at the end of your comment? the reason i'm asking this is because over the past few weeks i've been saying this and a about a week or so ago i posted a comment on a few various videos saying 'no doubts' at the end and i've never seen any other comments with that before then but i'm noticing a lot lately. is this a coincidence or something more?

  • rofl sarcasm indeed. If not, you're hilariously easy to impress.

  • wicked i done this today but the second time i busted my nuts lol

  • this is the trick i'm currently trying to learn, i can get the frame around but having a hard time landing :\

nice vid tho, keep it up!

  • fuckin noob! thats the dumbest fucking thing ever. thats isnt a tail whip

  • footjam...

  • IS THIS POSSIBLE ON A 30 POUND BIKE?
