  • The government destroys everything. Leave the free market alone Obama.

  • the Cash for Clunker program was Gay it was freaking gay why? becaise $4500 payed by tax payer money, probably the same Tax payer who lives in Phoenix AZ wakes up 5:00 in the morning and taking 6 buses to work and back home every day in a 110 Degree weather, so he or she can pay $4500 toward their spanking new Toyota to replace there $700 taurus so he or she can cruise the Freeway, stay nice and cool with A/C in their car play Lincoln park out of their Radio, and get 38 Miles per gallon,

  • my dad fucking hates cash 4 clunkers cuz he's a car salesman lol

  • ...

  • Government IS the problem and has become the enemy.

  • I Am A Democrat but more Independent I favor what benefits the majority Not a rich few. Yes I thought cash for clunkers was a bad Idea especially with Me being poor & Not qualifying even though I can make the payments Its just banks do Not loan money unless you have sold your Soul to the Illuminati system. But the good side Is maybe one generation of cars are skipped, when You buy a used car It will be a newer used car but will cost more & still be junk just newer junk.

  • @phmike69 don't worry, once ron paul becomes president, then everyone will forget about obama

  • Worst program ever and the greatest example of "American Style Bureaucracy" in the "polical cows" examples of different political ideologies:

BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. The government takes them both, shoots one, milks the other, pays you for the milk, then pours the milk down the drain.

  • For many times are tough right now. If you need to make some cash now here's how you can do it every time...

    GuaranteedWayToMakeMoney [dot] com

  • Cash for Clunkers cost the American tax payer, that means everyone, roughfly 24,000 dollars per car. the trade in value of each car was over estimated, over paid, and someone in the "Faux"bama got some for comming up with the idea.

  • i work at a junk yard and because of this stupid bull shit idea none will sell there car to us, now we have no cars and i went from 40 hours to 20 hours a week,(thanks Obama)

  • And the Democrats claim to stand up for the "little guy"...

  • For one nobody twisted anyones arm to buy a new car. I think the Cash for Clunkers program was total BS from the start. If the small car lots can hang on for 9 months to a year they can go to the repo auctions and get all the cars people couldn't afford!

  • your right when you say the cars will go to the auction. the problem is that us smaller car lots needed their trade in. (i own a car lot) we needed their most likely great car that would have sold at a dealer auction for $2500 to $3500. now. we cannot get that car because its getting crushed. what is a person supposed to do when they dont want some $900 junker, and they dont want some $9000 debtmobile? There's truly nothing in between for average people and its causing problems.

  • it also raises the prices at the auto auctions bc of this what was a $2500 car is now a $3500 car bc theres not as many there

  • Cash for Clunkers= Bullshit waste of money!

I'm Black, and I didn't vote for either Obama or McCain cuz neither had anything to offer in my opinion! My thing is,it's your fault if you bought a gas guzzler.I own a Mountaineer and yes,I get only 12MPG.But I knew what I was buying, and I can afford it,whether the gas prices were high or low.Know what your buying first,do research on the vehicle instead of getting rid of something good. Not ny fault if you got laid off.Find something better!!!

  • Why can't america just vote in a good honest fucking President/Government?!? This whole cash for clunkers is fucking over the country......Obama is the new Bush in my opinion. And he suck on my big fat FUCKING wang!!!

  • Oh... and on top of all of this, I bet it uses more energy to destroy the cars and "recycle" them than it would have used if the people kept driving them in the first place. *eyeroll*

Obama is an idiot... and he's a globalist.

Foreign cars should not have qualified for this program. Seriously. We just gave our tax money to people who hate our country enough to sell it to Asia. THAT is messed up.

  • he is so dumb cause his chages arent helping us..

    WE HAVE A HUGE DEBT

THIS IS WORSE THEN A RECESSION

THIS CAN CAUSE ANOTHER GREAT DEPRESSION!!!!!

  • your stupid if you buy a car from a used car dealer anyhow, their fuckin crooks,if you want a used car buy it from somebody selling their car,you get a better deal and your stimulating the economy where it should be stimulated, spread out, not to one person, and trust me you get the same guarantee as you would from a used dealer,NONE,these fuckin guys go to auctions and buy a car for 4 to 8 hundred and sell it for 1999.00 or more depends on the looks nothing more.

  • I hope the car dealers suffer because of this. If GM & Chrysler didn't take those fucking bailouts then this may not have happened. I will be buying ford trucks from here on out because I support companies that don't accept bailouts like GM & Chrysler. The only vehicles GM makes that are worth buying are the silverado, camaro, & the corvette. Every other vehicle they make is a small crampy piece of shit plastic cars. Make cars people like, and you won't need a fucking bailout government motors.

  • Exactly....nicely put.

  • lmao @ the pop-up Nissan ad on this video ... wtf

  • Lets all smash our windows out to stimulate the glass industry

  • watch?v=LA8IM550tTU

  • 90+% of cars in this program arent super earth destorying

and ones it did take there are still millions of them on the roads

now when those millions of drivers need parts they will have to buy new made so parts have to be made more crap into the earth no reuse or recycleing

and it caused price of steel to drop alot so chances are so will salavage price will drop and they will refuse cars if it costs more to keep them then sell yay thats change we need in peoples back yards

  • I went to the junkyard today myself, and a great majority of the cars turned in were late 90s and up. The worst ones I saw there was a 04 Colorado(5cyl), a 03 Silverado, and a 01 F250. They had tags on the engine saying they were ran on silicate instead of oil. I asked the yard guy what dealer these vehicles came from and he said it was KIA, and they got more they are getting from a Honda dealer next week.

  • What's annoying is that everyone was trading in for foreign cars. How's that helping the American, Union worker? It's not.

GM had the most cars that qualified, but 75% of the people who went in on that actually bought foreign. How annoying.

  • I agree about the CFC program. The GOV should have restricted the program to domestic cars only. Like I said I did my part and bought a Ohio Union Made Pontiac G5 through the CFC. GM didn't leave us because of the foreign cars they left for cheaper pastures. Even if we ALL bought domestic GM would still have left us. NOBODY has any patriotism. Our people and companies are screwing each other over. America seems to be doomed.

  • I got a NEW Pontiac G5 through the program the car was made in Ohio. I did MY part of staying domestic. But look at it this way Buick is no longer made in the U.S so no more Buick open golf games. The COMMUNISTS of China have OUR jobs and GM a "domestic" company is responsible. I guess the UAW wanting LIVABLE WAGES with safety and OSHA is a bad thing? WE made war equipment is WWII with manufacturing plants and now they're almost gone. By by U.S. We are done for. GM= traitor.

  • Its not GM's fault... they couldn't "compete" in price with slave labor. They still employ more Americans than everyone else, but if people don't start buying American soon, it'll just keep getting worse.

What we need is protective tariffs.

  • @ DrivingAmerican. GM employs more americans than everyone else? huh yeah right! My town is nothing but torn down GM manufacturing plants, the land cemented over to cover the cancer causing chemicals in the soil. GM claims money in north america operations are tight but alot of people forget the wealth GM has in communist china, huge manufacturing plants and cities built from our domestic money. GM COULD bring everything back but won't. The who hash is gone for good.

  • HELP ME PICK A GREAT NON-GM CAR! I can't buy another Impala. The offer of a "100% government backed guarantee," for a vehicle, is wrong. (I would like an honest politician instead.)

    All suggestions appreciated.

  • ANY Ford they are quality vehicles and the company is responsibly run by the Ford family with no govt help.

  • That's it!

  • The Ford Taurus assembly plant is right by us, somewhere around Chicago. Not sure if you're bitter over the bail-out Chrysler accepted, but if not, the Chrysler 300 is a very nice car... and available with a Hemi.

I think I can agree with traceylawrencefan on this, too. GM has the government backbone, Chrysler... has... Fiat (eww) and Ford needs all the help they can get right now. God knows, their money situation isn't that great either. They almost outsold Toyota this year, though.

  • DrivingAM, thanks for input. I loved the Impalas, but the email exchange with GM really bugged me. Not interested in the 0% or the "take it back guarantee."

Never an economics student probably hurts in that I don't understand why we would bail out companies who could utilize business methods to save themselves. Just stubborn enough to switch, too.

  • 2:14 - "intervening with the free market?"

You mean like T.A.R.P, Wallstreet, or Detroit 3 bailout(s), which one moron?

For those looking, who didn't originally have the money, but were intending to buy had that $4,500 incentive, sort of like that tax credit for buying, oh I don't know, hybrids?

2:34 - "poor people." - Their financial status has more to do with employment and heathcare.

2:35 - "clunkers off the market" - You mean the gas guzzling and high polluting SUV pieces of shit?

  • most cars turned in on program where newer cars

yard near me is full of 2005 and 2006 cars

most are 20mpg and there cars now suv's

most are 60k miles to 90k miles

trucks handed in where old work trucks trade in on car trade car for another large truck

program is a joke so a 2005 jetta or sebring is a high polluting lol

hybrids are for people who dont use car for work

  • Hybrids are for people who commute; you just live someplace where you don't see any, or simply don't work at all to see any on your commute.

Most of the trade-in's were SUV's for sedans, hardly ever the other way around or truck-for-truck. Civics, Corollas, and some Ford sedan were the top three sellers.

This isn't sub-prime lending for auto loans, and if you want to blame people who shouldn't be buying, blame unemployment and skyrocketing heath insurance costs.

  • health care isnt number 1 in life spending its home and auto

you will spend more on homes and cars then health care

problem is cars there tradeing in arent bad for the earth cars

and hybreds are cool when no yard will take them in 10 years

due to even tho small batterys costs are to high to dispose of them in a effective manner some yards wont take them crashed all ready

    saveing is nill

  • Hybrid batteries are not "disposed of," if you actually did any sort of studying on them whatsoever, which you have not, they are recycled.

Healthcare comes in at #3 as far as monthly expense, if not somewhere near a close 2.

There was a tax credit for hybrid-buying before the 60,000 mark for whichever brand, and at least battery technology is making a move away from oil, and hopefully soon, so-called "clean" coal.

  • who is gonna pay to remove and recycle them?

yards arent gonna take the time they will just refuse them

    to costly

not talking about monthly talking about in a lifetime

you will spend more on tires and gas for your car in your life then doctor bills

if earth was a concern then you wouldnt by a 1 to 10 gen hybred you would drive a vw or such TDI 50 mpg and then use good oil and a good filter and change your oil every 10k miles my 04 got 40mpg and 4qts of oil every 10k

    hybred = joke

  • Car and battery companies Joe, that's who.

How many times do you replace tires, versus routine procedures for whatever health condition?

    (ie: exams, pharmaceuticals, equipment)

    TDI, good oil, good filter?

That's like a low-carb, 0 transfat, low gluten, low calorie, low-fat twinkie my man.

    hybred?

Get some schooling first, then come back to me.

  • screw you

  • At least you got "screw" right, for once.

Let me guess, at 25 you're probably still staying somewhere either in mommie's basement, or attic, depending upon how good of terms you are with her?

Have you gotten your Bachelor's yet, or still working on the 4-year GED?

Keep clicking on the thumbs-down next to the -1.

  • oh well i hate ALL used car salesmen, they are all assholes

  • Yeah but now the program is OVER. Seems like there is a shitload of used cars out there. Like more cars per person than other other country on earth.

  • Now we will get an influx of used cars because many of these people won't be able to make their car payments and they will get repo'd. Then Obama will have us paying these people's car payments on top of the $4500 he already stole from us! Socialism is so grand and never stops!

  • Excellent report. I thought Democrats were for "the little guy". That's obviously not the case at all, is it? Democrats are for the union thugs and the envirowackos. They depise and attack individual entrepreneurial spirit. Stunning combination of arrogance and ignorance!

  • You can call it government intervention, but to be honest, most dealerships are a rip-off anyways. The real government intervention is having to buy a new car through a dealer.

  • ps... great video

  • fuck obama

  • Idiots purchasing homes they cant afford is what got us into this mess. Now millions of more idiots are going out and getting themselves locked into a 6 year car finance aggreement they CANT afford!=that much less money that would have been spent on new cloths for their kids, food, etc... All money is earmarked for one thing or another. Real genius Obama. Hopefully this twit for a Pres. will be a hard learning experience 3 1/2 years from now.

  • Billions of American dollars being sent to Japen and Korea for their new fuel efficient cars. Only a small percent of the money is actually staying in America. Also, the used car market has been totally distorted leaving millions of working class Americans to suffer

  • It was announced today that the program will end on Monday at 8 pm. In talking about the success of the program, the govt says it has paid out $145 million. There have been claims submitted for $1.91 billion. That leaves dealers carrying the govt for $1 billion, 765 million dollars.

One California dealer has submitted 178 vouchers, and been paid for one of them. His dealership is carrying an extra $780,000 for the govt.

  • The Secretary of Transportation acts upset when he says the dealers will be paid. Being a government employee, he does not understand how regular people feel. The question isn't just will they get paid? The dealers need to know just when that will be. No private business likes the idea of carrying a lot of extra debt, with no idea of when it will be repaid.

  • lol, hail hail obama..the man with da answers-ah ! what a way to run a country.. I think my big toe has more intelligence than obama and all his idiot friends...the american dollar is worthless , the economy is shot to hell. unemployment is at or over 10%..and were buying foriegn cars cause no one at the top really cares. their just buying time..lost in the corridors catering in soul food and counting their toes. lol what a lame party ... but everyday I am entertained a little more.....hehe

  • March on washington 9-12-2009 TEA

  • This feeble attempt to reinflate the dying automotive industry won't work, it will only worsen the fall we are wittnessing in the economy. In the meantime, those dealerships that do not have the "clunker" incentive will simply go out of business.

More people out of work, less goods and services bought, more people out of work, .... KABOOOM!!

  • what people also don't realize is that the rebate is really a second bailout for the automakers. the first bailout did not work as anticipated, and since the people were widely against the bailout, the government craftly re-worded this bailout as a rebate. who gets this money? the big three and they've also locked you into a new car payment plan. it is also noted that yes the big three do now make fuel efficient cars, but those cars fall short of similar japanese made engine quality cars.

  • I have a friend that was the first person to sign up for cash for clunkers in his town and not only has he not received his vouchers he has no word on when he's getting them or the car and on top of that he's paying interest on his loan for the car he hasn't got yet. There's something u'll never hear in the media. And these guys call their program a success, jokes.

  • This program may also put some new dealers out of business. The government is very slow to pay for service/repair work. The dealers will have to carry the govt. until they are reimbursed, yet the cars have to be paid for after they are sold. That leaves the dealer carrying about$4000 a car with no guarantee of when, or if, they will be paid. Most can't afford that. Some will close.

The plan was poorly thought out. The $1 billion was supposed to last about three months, it lasted a week.

  • I have a good friend that works in the Chevrolet dealer's office. They don't release the car to the customer any more on these deals, unless the customer puts up the rebate money. They haven't been paid yet for any of the vouchers that they did when the program first started.

At the end of the day, they pay GMAC for the cars sold that day. If they sell ten cars a day thru the program, they are carrying the govt. for about a quarter million a week!

  • Thanks for speaking out Eric

Thanks for covering the other side

    of the coin Dan

  • This is just another welfare program disigned to make the average american get accustomed to taking money from the socialist who now think that there in control of this great republic. The new cars get better milage but will be driven more then the old, and the "clunker" will be wasted, this is not at all going to help the environment. Just wait till these cars get repossesed and the banks take another hit. then the feds can grab some more of the economy.

  • lol....a used car dealer wearing dark glasses...can you say shady...

  • Ya because everyone wearing sun glasses on a sunny day is shady and cant be trusted. Honestly, keep your moronic comments off the internet.

  • whats the matter, the little obamabot is upset since the man he voted for is turning out to be a complete failure....truth hurts dont it..

  • Wow you're an idiot, I voted for Ron Paul you moron. Don't assume everyone who calls you a moron for your moronic comments is an obamabot.

  • Chrysler cars are a piece of junk my brother in law had a Jeep and the car was called into recall so many times. The transmission, the windows, and the AC, etc. it was a brand new car. Chrysler needs to go out of business saling junk. America needs to make a decent car. I can see that this would hinder the use car market. They need to bring back car inspections.

  • The program will have the effect of actually increasing pollution. All machines have a useful lifespan. When they get too old and inefficient, they are replaced. Somebody that has a car that is really at the end of its useful life, has fewer choices if they want to replace it.

Say you have a tired 1980-1985 truck, a lot of the 1995-2000 models you might replace it with are crushed! That helps keep the ones that really need to be off the road, still being driven.

  • come on man nobodys mad just and theres nothing seperating us except your stupid comments. id tell u were i live so u could find me but your 1200 dollar car probably couldnt make it up the cajon pass to get here anyway if u would like to meet me at the car dealership in this clip id love to buy u lunch maybe u can expand my knowledge in your english language while i feed your 19 year old ass some gerber babyfood

  • My predications. Gov motors GM will go to one brand. Chrysler will declare bankruptcy again but can not be saved and will be sold to GM and broken up for cash. Insurance company's who are now getting a windfall because new cars need full coverage will go broke get tarp and be taken over by gov. GM will have 2000 dealers all in the poorest parts of town the getto and no one will drive there to buy a car. Gov answer to this catastrophe they created will be to print more money.

  • This program in essence is like the govt. paying you to throwaway your car (which is probably paid for) to get financed for a new one. In essence its a payday to some car makers because it allows them to clear out used inventory in the market that would go against buying a new car and leave just cars being produced new now, it starts the debt cycle over again. Don't think it won't happen to housing, especially the shadow inventory, so they can start over again.

  • The Victory Channel?? What an asshole this guy is. Grow a brain dude.

  • Dont come here to leave stupid comments and if anyone is an asshole it's you! ya jackass, now run along fuckface.

  • Ok, if you drank the Koolaid, think about this. There are 250 million cars in America and this C4C will only replace no more than 1 million. Let's say you have a tall empty glass, now envision a few droplets on the bottom. If all these new cars gave off no carbon, this is how much carbon you would save. However, these new cars are probably increasing MPG by 20-30%? Dump 70% of the water out and the few droplets you have left is the carbon you are saving. It doesn't seem like a good plan to me.

  • Have people lost their common sense in this country. Liberals are saying this program will help reduce carbon. First of all carbon does not cause global warming, but if you want to drink the koolaid....

  • the government is not "interfering" with the free market. there is no such thing as a free market.

  • cash 4 clunkers what a joke r goal is to get out of debt and the goverment comes up with this shit.Anyone who falls victim to this joke deserves it. take a car u own we give u 45oo for it and u go deeper n debt come on it dont take a brain like Delta9son to see that trap!!!!

  • Plus you don't know me, so suck it.

  • 19 years old dude please ur not even old enough to have a fukn opinion just go watch spounge bob and ask him to suck it and ur wright i dont know u if i did u would have a different outlook on things theres hundreds of cartoons on utube that would love to here ur un educated opinion maybe ask them to suck it but dont feel bad if they turn u down to. o ya with a 1200 dollar ride i cant blame u for asking a guy to suck it theres probably not any hot chicks that would is there. obama is bullshit.

  • Yeah i can tell you have alot of friends, and you exceed excellence in your English, yeah man if you get mad over something like this then, you better just stop life haha, and you are talking about guys sucking dick that just makes you that much cooler, you are one of the last people on this earth that anyone would respect, and you are very lucky that your computer screen if the only thing blocking us, yeah so if you knew anything about me you would more than likely envy me, you low life cunt.

  • I hope all the car dealerships run out of money, fuck those selfish bastards, they are dickheads, im glad that they are getting hurt because of shit.

  • a Delta9son u sound a little bitter u should not b so quick to judge things on utube the reason hes on utube is not to amuse idiots like u he is sayn in a round about way that r mutha fn president and goverment r only lookin out for themselves not people that work hard for a living. i suspect u dont, and have had a car repode latley is that y your comment sounds so bitter? either way ur comment sucks pole.ur so bitter cuz ur 1982 astro van didnt qualify.

  • What the fuck are you talking about? im 19 dude i bought a car for 1,200 dollars and im keeping it, im just saying car dealers are ass holes and they will scam you, im not stupid to fall for obamas bullshit cash for clunkers program.

  • It might actually help used car dealers. There is presently a glut of used cars. If you destroy some it creates more demand for used cars and new cars.

However, I am against this program because it is not open to everyone, especially those that do not own a car and those that want cars banned.

  • It won't help used dealers. There is no glut of used cars. With new car sales being slow, fewer people trade in their old ones. Used dealers get their best cars from new car trade ins, and auctions. The economy already reduced that supply. Since the new dealers have to destroy so many, they will wholesale and auction fewer cars. The used dealer's supply will decrease.

Used demand is unlikely to increase. A lot of potential used buyers bought new, cheap cars due to the CARS program.

  • Bingo, used car dealers are reporting losses due to this. Our government doesn't understand basic supply and demand. Also, when the problem with our economy is private indebtedness, and lack of savings, the solution is not to get people more into debt. All we are doing is creating more debt for an even bigger fall.

  • Government just looking out for the big corporations and the banks, what else is new.............

  • boo hooooo

  • TRUTH and it's really hurting the repair shops too, especially if those "clunkers" have been keeping the shop a float.

  • YEP! and what happens when auctions run outa cars? INFLATION

  • not only this used car dealer you see here is being hurt but auto repair shop is being hurt bad because no one needs them any more.

  • Bankruptcy Filings Up 35 Percent Over Previous Year

Individuals and businesses filed 1.3 million bankruptcy cases in the year ended June 30, an increase of 35 percent over the previous year, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts said today.

Meanwhile Russia plans its own Cash for Clunkers program. The big exception is that the new cars have to be Russian made.

Bankruptcies and bad govt programs. More green shoots!

  • How can you not love it. Taxpayer dollars to bail out GM, and then taxpayer dollars to buy the product GM makes. It's a double-bailout.

  • This program is providing temporary relief to "new car dealerships"

Many of us who cannot buy a new car even if we have a clunker. To qualify, you must have excellent credit. With cap & trade policies, over the next 4 to 5 yrs, many will be banned from having a car - if driving an older gas guzzler, you will be told it is not environmental to drive it.

But the purchase of a new car is very un-environmental. 5 years of resources of the earth are used up every time a new car is made.

  • You belong on Fox, sir. You are as pandering and dishonest as Oreilly and Stossel put together, the way you just pretend to do an interview and field work with all your nonsense, agenda driven conclusions already made up.

  • economy be damned

    anouther round

    of chicken fried bacon

for me and the boys ...

    is all good ..

  • I couldn't hear a darn thing for the wind and traffic.

  • Interesting, there's a video on youtube of a used car dealer whose business has increased, due to people finding out their car doesn't qualify under CARS, so they buy a used car instead.

  • please send the link.

Does he share his lot with new autos as well?

  • I suppose it could be argued there is at least a little "buy Some Kind of car Right Now" advertising value in the program, but I'd have to question if that is cost-effective for taxpayers.

Regardless, at the end of the day, it's still government pushing people to buy crap they don't need, likely with money they don't have. Didn't we just pop a bubble like that? Time to start new bubbles.

  • Aug. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Home price declines in the U.S. accelerated in the second quarter, dropping by a record 15.6 percent from a year earlier, as foreclosures weighed on values.

The median price of an existing single-family home dropped to $174,100, the most in records dating to 1979, the National Association of Realtors said today. Total sales rose 3.8 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.76 million from the first quarter and fell 2.9 percent from 2008s second quarter.

  • Home prices decline further. Good. Homes have been overpriced for quite some time.

  • Eventually no one will buy any home because they'll spend most of their money on food and fuel.

  • great video. government is always looking to play robin hood.

"here, have this at another's expense. rest assured, it won't be at our expense, we don't produce anything anyway. we just take from others."

why exactly did the government start this program up in the first place? to help new car dealerships becuase no one has money to buy expensive cars? why are they even destroying clunkers in the first place? to get old cars off the market?

it's stupid. Who's Idea was this?

  • they sold it to the german public under Enviromental reasons....

    new car = 2500 € bonus

    + cheap credit

    + lower CO2 levels = less tax

the KRAUTS bought it and still do, just like most of the Govt loving I belive in none fraud Govt election dupes in the US do to.

  • Germany did the same program:

they are now talking about 10.000 contracts not being processed due to fraud....

its a scam anyway people running up debt for 100 year old technology for the sake of an auto industry that should have gone bust 20 years ago. All these buyers will be pissed the moment usable E-cars start hiting the market around 2013 - 2016 while the oilprice (fuel) will rocket to astronomical hights

  • PS: nearly all used car sales lots have gone bust or were about to go bust prior OCT 2008 in Europe/Germany

They were the 1st to physcally feel & see the symptoms of this crisis way in advance.

GM is also talking about an E-bay deal for new cars ..... talking about desperate, are people getting the drift or are they just hoping their generation will only get away with a black eye?

  • First our government helped people buy expensive houses with cheap credit now it helps them buy new cars with cash for clunkers. People will be in debt one way or another if they're not wise up and think for themselves.

  • well the trend is global Govt dependence:

there is no liquidity problem, its artificially caused to trap dupes into future generations of Govt dependence.

Fiat cash is backed by nothing but the printing-press and govt loving lemmings willing to trust a Govt having its citizens 100% under control, either via judicial force or financial dependence.

Govts are all selling cash for dependance while claiming it to be safty and security.

  • All the Fed has to do is type in a few extra zeros on the computer to force the taxpayers to pay for this. Next up Clunker McMansions! More extra zeros typed in until OOPs irreversible Hyperinflation!

  • When the Gov owns Preferred shares in GM it seems obvious. Plus, States love the new rush of Sales Tax revenue and fees...Excellent Report..J

  • quite the scam if you think about it. GM gets the bailout and now to pay it off, the taxpayers that bailed them out are sucked into this program to spend more into the failed company. It's like 2x the damage to the consumer/taxpayer and they DON'T EVEN SEE IT! suck them dry of cash and make them starve...NWO agenda imo.

  • 1. We the taxpayers get to pay for the poor to cash in their cars (if it is the poor as the media has presented). That 4500 per car comes from somewhere--our back pockets.

    2. What percentage who really couldn't afford this new car will default on the loan and thus once again create this circular pattern of debt default and accumulation.

    3. What a waste of may drivable cars who only some could afford to purchase.

Gee, this program has the Obama signature all over it and it aint good.

  • Also, this program will result in higher prices for used cars and for used car parts, because there will be a shortage of used cars and parts. This program will hit hardest on lower income buyers. Contact your members of Congress and congratulate them for their superior economic powers. They really know how to screw up the economy.

  • good point, thx for the comments

  • So the new car dealerships aren't American business? I'm confused.

You think you're peddling something new? I can turn my tv to Fox and hear this same spin 24/7.

  • This is temporary relief; let the weak close and the prudent increase market share.

  • I agree with this. They should not destroy the clunkers. They should be made available to used car dealerships. Maybe they could be modified in a way that improves their mile/gallon performance. Something that gets only 18/gallon or less would be expensive to drive even if i was cheap to drive.

Are they of any value when destroyed? I mean in parts, scrap etc? Who would that money go to?

  • Cash for Clunkers is a social engineering program disguised as a government sponsored incentive program.

It's the same logic as North Korea erecting empty facade palaces in their border cities.

If we can say we have the most clean fuel efficient and newest cars, its a sign that your country is doing well. Then we can brag about how the big three rebounded after the government assistance.

  • Hi Daniel,

I still watch all your videos.

What do you think will happen here in Ca.

I just read they have released 40,000

prisoners? Charles Hugh Smith on Of Two Minds (one word) just wrote a great

    article on California.

A friend of mine thinks we will bounce back and good times will be here again!!!

    Keep up to great work.

  • Not sure, I assume these were non-violent offenders.

One thing is for sure, these 40,000 people are going to have trouble finding jobs. Most employers are not forgiving and society isn't big on second chances:(

  • So visionvictory, do you think that more jobs would be created and the economy would function better if the government let all the autos and banks go bankrupt? Or were you hoping that they would go bankrupt and there would be chaos and you would be able to buy city blocks with your silver and sell your canned tuna at 5 times the price? LOL

  • The restructuring of the U.S. economy is going to be painful, but it is necessary.

  • Fuckin' idiot basically admitts to shining up clunkers and puttin' them back out there on the road.

  • thats his job, thats part of the market.

  • That much I get.... I mean duh...He's a used car salesman.

However, his marketing strategy of announcing, in a public forum like YouTube, that much of his stock would be considered clunkers by the government, while also alienating those customers who might support the program and the current administration is just plain stupid......

....makes me think this guy never owned a business in his life and the whole video is just a stunt.

  • Capitalism has changed the world for the better..and I know from personal experience.Try being my age (22) and living in a socialist country (like Italy)...not only is it a bitch finding a job (because growth in Europe is so fucking slow) but almost every apsect of life is restricted. I lived in Italy with my family for 3 years and I'll never go back. There is no place like America. If you like socialism so much then go live anywhere in europe. You spoiled americans dont know how well you haveit

  • Man, I can't wait till Bush is out of office and he have a Democrat in the white house

  • Hey Daniel, for excellent microeconomic analysis of the market watch The Master Pattern Report with Dr. Bob Flower, username NATIANDYOU. The man is a brilliant market timer and has been right on the money with the majority of his calls to date.

  • This all helps to keep the poorer people off the road. There is a class war and the poor are losing everything.(by poor I mean people that work and can't get ahead.)

  • that's what the government is trying to do, make it hard for the poor to do anything so that the poor has to rely on the government. once the poor goes everyone goes because the poor doesn't hire the poor. that's how they are trying to take control of everyone, little by little

  • Daniel - you forgot to mention auto mechanics!!!

  • This is BS.there are plenty of used cars that gets good gas mileage.I guess you fools want to send more and more money to the middle east or pay $4 or $5 a gallon for gas.the less gas we use the less it will cost and the less oil we have to import.we only have 3 or 4% of the worlds oil.even T. Boone Pickens agrees that we have to use less oil and convert our over the road trucks and trains to natural gas.

  • idlertire - The national geological society has told congress that there is more oil in the Dakotas then in a few of the countries we get oil from now.

  • Drill baby Drill :)

  • Locked up in rock and sand or free flowing in liquid form?

  • buying new cars is point less... after 2-3 years you still owe WAY more than what your car is worth. thats why the government wants your clunkers to rip you off in the long run

  • great job reporting on this. Obama, you're an ass hole.

  • thx for the comments

  • think the economy needs ....

    some chicken fried bacon ...

  • My arteries thank you! LOL!

  • Great video, great perspective! keep it on, bro.

  • Thank you

  • They are to big to fail, you are to little to care about!!!!

  • This is because Obama owns all the car manufacturers now. Imagine what he'll do when he has control over healthcare.

  • Instead of CNN we now need CVV! keep up the great reporting VV

  • cash for clunkers really??

Cars aren't investments, it depreciates significantly as it leaves the car lot

  • What a stupid program!! Yeah we save 5 miles per gallon for $4500 of tax payer money! Sounds like a bargain! Typical government overreaching trying to boost the car industry since Obama has taken over. He throws money at a problem so he can make his bailing out the auto industry to look like a good deal. What about the other 4000 American industries Mr Dumbass President? Oh and thanks, I am glad my tax money helped my rich neighbor buy a new $25,000 Prius! Not even an American car! Pathetic!

  • Why 'pathetic'? If America made decent cars he wouldn't need to buy a Toyota. The truth is American cars are cheaply made rubbish, as the auto makers didn't move with the times and are now facing extiction. Long live Toyota, Hyundia, VW ...

  • Puzzoozoo..... Dude, do you really need to reply to every poster?

The point is Obama's program seemed to help foreign car makers more than American car makers. My point is Obama assisted one industry with this handout program without doing the same for any other industry. It shows favortism to his union auto worker buddies. The whole thing is pathetic. Of course people took advantage of it. It was free $4500. People in socialist America expect handouts.

  • I don't. I just reply to posts that I want to reply to. It was also about giving the American ppl an opotunity to get rid of there old car for another one. Here in Britain, we have a similar program going on and in two week I'm changing my old car for a new and foreign one.

  • So you feel it's the government that provides you your opportunities in life? I believe the exact opposite. People are free and free to make their own choices. Some will make good choices and others not so good. But in anycase we should be responsible to our own choices in life. To look at the government for your livelihood is something I don't accept. The government has to take money from others in order for you to have it. In your world you see this as fair. In mine it is tyranny!!

  • Yes, I have the opportunity to exchange my old car for a new one. The British gov provided the opportunity to get more from the old car in a cash exchange then if I was to sell it for scrap privatly, or sell it privatly. As for the US CFC program, no American is obliged to take up the CFC offer. The choice tis their and their's alone.

  • You are missing the point the British govt or any govt for that matter does not get money from thin air. It is taken from people. Thus when you say they offered you and others an "opportunity" to receive cash for your old car, that "opportunity" you received was taken from others whom I am sure were not as enthusiastic to give your govt money as you are to receive it. This is pure socialism. The fact thay you and others were not forced to take the cash is no less ugly because you did take it.

  • Have the scappage money is paid for by the car company. So when are you personnaly going to foot all the bills USA Ltd runs up, seeing you don't want gov to have any money? 'Pure socialism' my ass, you probably would know aht socialism was if it bit you in the butt. BTW the car scappage scheme has been such a runaway success, so much so the £300 million put aside for it has been reported to run out before the deadline.

  • Half

  • wouldn't

  • You are not very smart my friend. First off when a business claims to pay for something for free you can guarantee that will never happen. You paid for the scrappage whether you know it or not. No business is going to suck up the cost. You just paid for it as part of the price of the vehicle. So, don't be so foolish to say the car company paid for anything. Business 101, you should attend someday. Oh that's right you are a socialist so you wouldn't understand such simplistic business practices.

  • You're waisting your time. These idiots believe in a static economy. They are so near sighted that they don't see the multiple and complex effects that governement intervention has on peoples behavior.

  • Yeah, the majority of cars bought under the program are Japanese, so the U.S. government is directly subsidizing the foreign companies that have devastated the U.S. auto industry, putting so many American workers out of work and further depressing the many companies and communities that American auto workers support.

Obamanomics is beginning to look like Zimbabwean ecomomics.

  • If you want to point the finge of blame at anyone point it as the American car makers who didn't move with the times. Consider the fall of GM ect as karma.

Aemerican made cars are rubbish, which is why they don't sell well in Europe or the Far East, as only American's were trusted to buy such junk..

  • You know fuck all about the British scrappage scheme for old cars. As you're just another ignorant American tw@ with an anti-Obama chip on each shoulder.

  • Don't compare like with like as in America's CFC, and Britain's scrappage scheme. Oh and BTW the scappage scheme is now at £3,000 for some companies. Prove I am a socialst you ignorant colonial troll.

  • "scheme" is the appropriate word it would seem. Prove that you are a socialist? Read your postings on here. Case closed!

People who grow up under socialism tend to not know they are socialist. Because the word rightfully so has such a negative view people who are never admit they are. People who think when they govt hands them a check that it comes out of thin air and don't realize that the same govt stole that money from others in order for them to receive it are ignorant.

  • And how do my 'postings' prove I am a socialist when I'm a conservative with a small c? You thou are the original American idiot. You have zero idea how things work outside the American bubble. You have even less of an idea how the British scrappage scheme works.

  • I have lived in Wales. Have you lived in America? So in that regard I am more qualified than you to speak about both programs. A Western European conservative is about the same as an American liberal. You still support socialist programs. If a govt hands you money that is not your own then guess what? You support socialism. That money came from people who may of needed it to support family members, but instead your great govt took it from them and gave it to you to buy of all things a car!
