  • Look at the curved ends. Those are superheater elements. Kb968 was steamed sometime after arrival at Ferrymead but once? Or did it run several times. I think it was steamed at Weka Pass once but in siding but not to full pressure. Hope Mainline Steam can get it running soon.

  • Definatly looks like he is re-tubing that boiler, also those tubes definatly look second hand

  • Thank you for sharing, I struggle to find footage of the Ka/Kb class locomotives 5 stars

  • I've reflued boilers and those tubes look as if they are second hand. New tubes are very well oiled and black. The last boiler that I reflued was a 70hp Case Traction Engine and being a traditionalist I rolled the tube ends.

  • kool old sckool vid..(dunno bout the music???? soundz like old drakula movie!!!) keen follower of 968's restoration hope to see her back on the midland line soon. will return to christchurch for that event 4 sure.

  • What is that guy doing at the end of the footage?

  • Id say the guy at the end of the clip is fitting either boiler tubes or superheater tubes.

  • WOW an EXCELLENT video i enjoy seeing old videos of ferrymead alot differnt to wat we have now. thanks for shearing 5*
