  • I see what you did there..

  • What game is that

  • left click?

  • Pretty sure this would be the most awkward way of controlling an fps shooter or computer in general that i could imagine. Obviously ultimate judgement has to be reserved for when i see it for myself. It seems floored in its market to me, If its targeting hardcore gamers, they would prefer sitting at the desk to get the greater accuracy of the mouse. And casual gamers wouldn't mind the inaccuracy of the controller if it means couch gaming. Just sayin.

  • DON'T DROP THE SOAP BIG HOMIE!!! haha....

  • its a mouse covered in fabric hahahahahahah

  • looks very tiring....

  • 1 vital question, what happens when you drop the soap????

    XD

  • @xTheDeathSaintx it will probably break...really what did you expecting to happen ???

  • @Yiannispa1 it's a prison anal rape joke

  • @simpl456 reaaaaaly???

  • So theres the rectangular form and the ___ form? I didnt understand what he said :S

  • well.. nice idea but I think it's not so healthy

  • how much is it priced u think?

  • it's a really interesting design but i think i'll stick with my flat surface mouse : /

  • @MonkySyndrome oh wait, that was my brother's account. anyway, it's cool but i'll stay with my normal mouse

  • I don't really see how this is better than a controller, once you get used to a controller its extremely accurate, also mice are precise for FPS's due to how they're used, this loses a lot of that just due to things like gravity and slight movements in the cloth when you rotate your fingers. Also you have to stop a lot more often in the rotation to get an accurate sweep, things like circle strafing would be extraordinarily difficult to do accurately with this.

  • This is actually a very good idea!

  • @OniAndy

I don't think u could use both mouse buttons.

well you could but it would be hard to use.

  • FAIL :(

  • @jaytwon23 why do you say that? it a good idea and if they can work out the rotation-while-clicking problem it would be a great idea.

  • it looks like an ordinary laser mouse board inside that green poop

  • Just don't drop the soap.

  • as cool as this is, its still pretty stupid.

  • @bubinasuit its not stupid, just hard to control for a new user. who nos maybe they might come up with an even bether idea fro mthis prototype

  • @OniAndy I think they removed it. but have you looked on their website ?

  • fail

  • #FAIL

  • how can u move up and down with this mouse?

and where it can be bought? i dont want to make

  • Don't drop the soap

  • lol, yeah pretty much

  • Hey M$ it's called a Wiimote.

  • wiitard

  • Wiimote = Infrared pointing device

    Soap = Handheld trackball

  • i love you

BUT NOT IN A GAY WAY

    you know...

  • can i place an order for one of these or are they still not in mass production?

  • u can make these yourself easy

  • UNREAL TOURNAMENT 1! I HAVE THAT

  • does anybody know what type of mouse he used. . .i would love to make this

  • you can do this with a regular mouse! take the fabric and put it over the mouse. but to click you push on the other side! NAH DIP!!!!!

  • Lol its nice me and my dad make it its so cool playing games with 3D monitor its so coool

  • It doesn't take a genius to realize that this would be extremely clumsy.

  • bs i have one this shit is hard to move and their pro's using this shit

  • hi, how would sum1 roll the mouse around AND press the mouse buttons comfortably at the same time?? for example if that was the fire button in a game........?

  • Isn't the whole top a left click button? Pressing anywhere on it would press the button. My only question is, where's the right click? Or is it just for Mac?

  • Get a Wii!

  • lol that's a cute idea

but the reason it's not going to get very popular with many online gamers is that you need a keyboard to type to other people on the game.

  • Dude SOMEBODY post a diy on instructables.-c...o///m (biggest diy site)

Itll get soap popular in no time!

  • its called a fucking CONTROLER, theres a REASON why "soap" isn't even on teh radar, and CONTROLERS, with JOYSTICKS, and BUTTONS, dominate the market (what else is there?!)

  • The reason why soap isn't on the market is because it is a fairly new idea that is still a prototype. Also, mouse movement is far more accurate than analog sticks for FPSs, thus making soap+wireless keypad the most accurate way of playing FPSs from your couch.

  • I tried, I failed at making one, willing to buy one for $50 US or CND.

  • i making one right now

  • just put a wireless mouse in a sock

  • DUDE THIS IS FUCKING SWEET!!!

  • watch-out when soldering those batteries. Some can explode if you heat them.

  • What happens when the batteries run out O.o!

  • get new ones duh

  • Well yeah but you'd have to take the whole thing apart to replace them.

  • Plus they're soldered together so you'd have to do that every single time you change the battery.

  • i made one its frikcing awesome!

  • what game in he playing?

  • Unreal Tournament '04

  • one question, I saw a square soap

what kind of mouse or mod do you need?

  • you need a laser mouse, I prefer the cheap ones. Probably "Fellowers"

  • ya see this is kinda hard to do but not many people try it because you can very easlily make a wii remote work as a pointer mouse or a wireless xbox360 controller do the same and its a lot eayser to do

  • if anyone finds this hard to make just slip your mouse in to a sock...yes i know that sucks hard but its easier than doing this....just saying tho.........

  • You could easily make this using a basic wireless mouse already in the market but not a usb mouse. Things must be getting very bad(just kidding) if we have to make our own computer mouses and have workshops to teach others how to do it.

  • how do u sync it with your computer when it has a usb thing to plug in ??? and how do i get the click button off

  • u have to do it with a wireless mouse

  • is this for real

  • yep

  • Hey, anyone, i'll buy one of these if anyone has one or willing to make one. Message me on here if your willing to sell and tell me your price.

  • how do you use the arrow keys, like in games?

  • if u notcie at 2:08 the guys is holding up a keyboard like devise. if u check out there other vids on there web side u can see moreexample of ppl doing the same thing

  • kool

  • pitch the idea to an electronics company and get it in stores so i can buy it, im too lazy to make it myself

  • Man this guy is genius but what i don't understand is how did he connect the batteries??? did any body help me about that????

  • this is soooo freaking cool!:D i'm gonna make one myself RIGHT NOW!

  • Wow i did try this, and its so cool!!

  • ????

  • so cool, but hard to do :P

  • outstanding cool device !!!

  • haha nice dude ! :)

  • You really are a genius !! WOW im gonna make my own "Soap Mouse" right now, thanks for uploading this video !!

    cool

  • how did the player control movement?

  • No Offence, But I didn't understand anything you said, I mean that thing looked nothin' like a mouse!

  • you are genius man !

  • UNREAL TOURNAMENT FTW!

  • im not sure if i wana make that but im sure its a great idea!

  • loool :-)

    tecnologies... :-)

  • This is fuckin awsome! I'm making one for my new PC mod..

  • Very nice project!

  • How about using 2 of them (one for the directions in the game and one for the regular mouse use)with a driver that can set all buttons/directions for each one individualy (usually if you use 2 mouses they act the same and create a conflict but a driver should solve that problem)?

  • How are they moving in the U2k4, though? Isn't it just the mouse?

  • the dude also has a wireless small keypad on his side

  • im so making that!

  • Leave my Mouse alone!

  • awesome idea....but i dont know how long it will take for this to be available here in the middle east...:( im still not sure an ordinary home user will come up with soap mice better than those....

  • any of you actully done it? i just want to know befor i take a mouse apart

  • Ahhh...well that was probly the best idea for free i've seen in a while thanx...for sharing...

  • Wow, that's cool!

  • nice, now I know what to do with that mouse I disembowelled and is currently lying in a drawer somewhere.

  • COOL

  • Wow, that is very good, I like it. So much more easy to use, by the look of things. Pretty nice precision.

  • is that a fuzzy sponge? XD

  • woot.

  • Very creative idea and even better that it can be 'home made'. Nice work. Thanks for publishing, as this is the way other outgrowth ideas can be hatched.

  • Stupid

  • no scroll..looks stupid

  • thats creative .. but y let people know how to make their own when they could make money

  • what a simple mouse!

  • I think Gyration came up with such a mouse.

They have their own router sorta thing and it lets you operate your mouse in air. The pointer/cursor moves wherever you wave the mouse...

  • it is kinda dumb...good idea, but could be much better if it was worked on alittle more...i gotta find a way to make a real pointer now! now i must be off to brainstorm! ...and to study how OptMouses work

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHH HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! Ive got it...for a BALL mouse...your can screw in alittle weight to the lowest point of the ball...as the rest of the mouse moves...the ball stays still..but this will only really work for up and down movements....gotta keep thinking!

  • mm.. interesting!!

  • Heh, funny, such a useless thing

  • that* and i dident watch whole video

  • soap taht soap we wash hands with?

  • thats shit

  • is this actually true?

  • yes it is true

  • sweet

  • i wanna make it

  • Excellent!

  • woww thats amazing

  • briliant!!!

  • Its not good

  • Cool i finished making the insides! All i need now in two plastic bottles that fit, and a sock, lol.

  • I think this is very interesting.

  • why not just use the Wii remote on your pc..works just fine..

  • you guys could be rich....RICH i tell you

  • Don't drop the soap! (or it will break.)

  • That is awesome. I must make one now.

  • GENIUS !!!

  • Cool, someone should make a "rechargeable" version instead of actually soldering in the batteries.

  • so cool

  • i used this at CHI and it rocks! I'm making one!

  • I'd rather use my hand to jack off..

  • wow, i don't know if that's worth making tho

  • hey fretZ4 u can do it by moving your finger up down, it is basicaly a small laZer mouse loZer mouses work by detecting movmen under the laser so u move your finger up the cursor goes down. wich is kinda not good

  • most ingenious thing ever! im makin 1

  • I want one!

  • dumb.

  • wow UT 2004 ill own u in it stfu

  • it has both buttons, you can still click them, and you scrool by moving the cursor the the scroll button and clicking it

  • how can you right click and how does it scroll? i don't really see how you could do that....

  • Clever :) would be sweet for the console players who use joypad (why people play fps games on a console with a joypad... i never understood..).

  • hold your mouse up and vuela u have soap shit

  • Never mind.. Watched it again.. Tells you how.. im so stupid :P

  • Quick Question.. How do you move Forward / Backwards with the SOAP?

  • very neat

  • OMG, that is sick. I don't really need this thing, but wtf, I'm gonna make one!

  • It's interesting, but the thing that stuck out in my mind was... It would be a pain in the ass to change out dead batteries in this thing.

  • holee SHIT! they tell us how to make it!? can we give these people an award or SOMETHING!? crazy, wow... THANK YOU! I'm gonna make one!

  • This looks freaking sweet, im have to try this myself some time.

  • He works in microsoft research. Does it make any sense? And the gadget is also patented :).

  • xtra long lideo - heavy on demo light on how-to. cool enough device, easy enough design. but do i feel like whipping out the old band saw? not really.

  • Nice interface for gaming. Not very practical in most windows/office environments.

  • eXistenZ!

  • that was AWESOME.

I might try this one day.

    thanks for sharing. =)

  • this sux

  • Just turn your mouse upside-down and hold it in your hand... boom same result...

  • except then the X axis would need to be reversed. Try it out for yourself with your mouse and your shirt.

  • Can someone tell me how you solder the two batteries together? i have tried and can't get the solder to STICK to the batt terminals!

  • If you take a piece of sandpaper to the terminals, it'll provide a rougher surface for the solder to stick to. It usually works for me with batteries, although I'm not sure how much abuse it'll stand :-)

  • If you take a piece of sandpaper to the terminals, it'll provide a rougher surface for the solder to stick to. It usually works for me with batteries, although I'm not sure how much abuse it'll stand :-)

  • this is going to be my weeks projects.! ill let u know how i get on!! wooo! cart wait!!

  • Sweet! That is so cool!

  • This is a great idea.. they should patent and market it. Not to say that they shouldnt tell people how to make their own. But they could make tons of money off of the less technical people of the world... ie the iPod lovers.

  • Why wouldn't you just use a thumb driven joystick style mouse that you can hold in one hand as used in projector presentations??

  • Does anybody know the program used to change the direction of the pointer along the Y axis? All it said in the video was something about a mouse mirroring program (I couldn't really tell what was being said there)?

  • it must have something to do with all the motions being backwards since the mouse is effectively upside down half of the time

  • I would also like to know what program is used to do this.

  • I'd probably just break everything trying to make one. I'd rather just buy one on the internet.

  • If I find all the equipments needed, I might try this. Looks cool for remote controlling your PC, especially on a Media Center.

  • I like the simplicity and how the SOAP can pretty much unhook you from being wired and give you a more fluid interface. Combine that with a frog keyboard and you have the best combination for data entry. I can totally see this being implemented as wearable technology.

  • I want to build one now!

  • Nintendo Wii could potentially own its ass - by much better control and acces to keys - will it happen?
