thıs ıs an afro-savannah-chıtlın cırcuıt-psychedlıc form of blues that Blood ınvented, retunıng that axe ın dıfferent ways and gettıng those half tones and harmelodıc madeness.
Blood Ulmer has a unique sound, a combination of drone, melody and rhythm at the same time. Saw him live a few years ago, and he just blew me away. Stunningly beautiful music.

Pathetically speechless (you know how it his when you finally meet a hero) after an incendary M.R.E. gig in Wales I nervously staggered over to shake JBU's hand. My own puny bunch of 5 vanished into his massive palm and were then duly held immobile by this guy's awesome grip while I tried (and failed) to find something meaningful to say.
What I meant to say was, "Sir, you are a true musical giant and have helped light up my life over the last three decades."
You're not the only one: the very same thing happened to me last year in Italy - expect that I only had the nerve to hand him my copy of "Black Rock" and a pen for an autograph. :-)
I'm sure I still couldn't find any words to thank him.
Erect a shrine to this man America,he is a musical treasure to this country.

You could have said something simple like "I admire you and your music."

I agree, anything to that effect would have sufficed and on paper seems so easy, but tongue tied and overwhelmed as I was even that was beyond me....
