As a newbie to Windsurfing, I just want to say that Jibing is a lot harder to learn than tacking, but once it's learned, it's sure a fluid and graceful way to turn your sailboard... just beautiful. Now I wanna go to the featherfactory and take lessons, lol....
The thing to take away from this is: switch your feet before you flip the sail. So many people get that order wrong and fail to plane through the turn. You can do it the other way but it's harder.
@wildblue2 Debatable, but for a good number of folks step jibe is tricky to pull off when learning. Particularly in a rougher sea, jibing switchfoot will often encourage a smoother turn. Step jibe as shown in this video is the ultimate goal but both methods should be mastered and are interchangable.
You really are better off picking up an instructional book or dvd. I used 'Windsurfing' by Peter Hart when I was learning (oh hell, i still am :D ) - it made a big difference on low wind days!
Smooth gybing

The music and lyrics does not compliment the content of this video but it's still a great video to watch.

So for the most its carve and then spin the sail round to the other side? Of course footwork and balance too, but is that basically it?
