Too bad this one is played too fast because Bruce sounds completely incredible on this version. Now everone go out and buy the CD please (Lost Treasures), believe me you do NOT want to be without it, it's g's got all 3 of Bruce's audition songs. It's also got some really old versions of some of the early classics like Prowler etc (with Paul)

No,,I dont think Bruce had any helium....I think he was trying to do his best to sound like Paul(who kicked ass with Maiden,BTW) and probably shittin purple twinkies trying out for them, but,they are two completely different throats. I think we should all just be grateful that they were not trying to find a DiAnno clone,and realized what an amazing talent they had in front of them. They gelled, and evolved into one of the best Metal bands ...EVER!! Up the Irons!!

 This is actually (about) one whole step higher than the original studio recording. Probably because of some mistake when transfering from tape to digital or when recording. Hence Bruce sounds, and the music, like it's in a higher pitch than it actually was recorded. It's also faster because of that.

Bruce was the best of heavy metal. He introduced a classical style into a genre that had never done such a thing. To say that his style is limited is, well, limited. Great melodies. You have to have real balls to sing in a classical motif within a metal band. Just my two cents worth....

I really hope they do release it some day (if it exists) because I prefer these three audition takes over any other version. It was when Bruce still had his raw Samson voice!

Yeah there is a good version.I actually have it though not available ATM. I really should upload it when I get the chance. It kicks serious ass. I shouldn't hope for any official release of an upgraded version, since they would have done it for the Early Days package of 2005. But it's always possible that some skillful enthousiast take it on himself to digitally enhance it.

Have you heard Ozzy: he had a fitting voice in early Black Sabbath. As a solo artist he sounds like a old tunedef lady compared to Dickinson on most records. I would say he sounds the same on all solo records except a few.. btw Ozzy sounds a little bit different before Black Sabbath. More bluesy and always off-tune because of too much drugs!
