  • @gurdain what kaida are you playing. I would love to know what it is?

  • This is very well done

  • Well....very nice ability, but sweetness is also a quality that is usefull in a tabla recital....oh and riyaz. I guess.

Amazing ability.... Hope ur enjoying it too, other then accomplishing it....

  • very nice, you put agression into your play, makes it very direct! keep it up.

  • very strong technique, great!!!!

  • Damn Singh is King chakde de phati mundia really great nice hands and just do ya thang

  • raw.

  • Really nice. Thank you for posting it on you tube. god bless you

  • Strong Punjabi hands!!!

But less effective on long term, much energy is wasted this way.. Tabla is about tecniqe, finger work.

This is good but a lill bit 2 loud 2 some places..

U wanna kill the tabla poora kia):

U r in good shape, good riyaz, good knowledge and education with ur masters. I think you`ll definetly reach the top with lot`s of riyaz, guru ji`s ashirwaad and the experience with age!! Much Love From Holland

  • yeah, the microphone I think makes the sound a bit rougher - but on that day I do remember I was playing simply to release energy - it is kind of loud throughout

thank you for your advice and comments

  • Inspirational man!! thanks for sharing the phrases too! :)

  • Excellent hands!!!

  • haha ur right, I looked at the video again...I was wondering why a punjab qaida would be played with 1 finger tetes

  • this is a real flexible kaida, I've heard Ustad Zakir Hussain adjust it to many taals

but on youtube, when Ustad Alla Rakha plays it, he plays it with 1 finger tetes instead of full handed...

  • yes, he does play this in other taals and Ustad Alla Rakha is seen playing this with 2 finger style

  • nice

  • how long have you been playing?your good thats why im asking.

  • I started when I was three and learnt from my dad Harkirat Singh until I was about 13. Then I learnt from Bickram Ghosh and for the last 5 years I've been a student of Pt Shankar Ghosh

  • Amazing. Right hand looks like a spider crawling all over the place, very good!

  • Hi Gurdain how often a year do learn from Pt Shankar Ghosh?

  • hey man can you possibly post the bols of the main kaida and a few paltha's??....you play very well!

  • the phrases of this composition are:

dha treke dhetete ge treke dhetete dhati dhage

thuna kena dhati dhage dhati dhage thuna kena

ta treke tetete ke trekete tetete dhati dhage

dhina gena dhati dhage dhati dhage dhina gena

For variations you can take phrases of the kaida and mix them about too.

  • wah wah gurdain. you are a big talented tabla player. hope to see you one day. after school i will go to calcutta, maybe to great Pandit Shankar Ghosh, your Guruji and the Guruji of my Guruji =)

  • Hi Gurdain you have an excellent tabla there were did you buy it from?

  • the tabla is from calcutta, baya dont know

  • LOL typical Zakir Hussain. That is his trademark way of playing. I can imagine his facial expressions and his long hair flying all over the place as he plays this.

  • hahaha!

  • omg! fantastic hands..could you please tell me the bols for this please

  • Hey, awesome stuff. I've been playing tabla since about 7 i think, but not consistently (almost 18 now).

How long did you take lessons for?

  • I have been learning since the age of two or three from my father and for the last six or seven years from Bikram Ghosh and Pandit Shankar Ghosh of Calcutta. I am now 21.
