I disagree...the campus has the right to decide what messages they will host on campus. That doesn't mean there can't be an opposing position but there no reason the school has to host that position. However the school could be in-breech of their own standards by disallowing normally permissible types of free speech on campus.
@jsgdk Schools normally have standards that disallow hate speech as it is a distraction form the learning process and it can be an implied threat targeting certain students. A school hosting a tolerance day assembly doesn't imply they have to host an opposing assembly nor should they have to accept hate speech that is normally not allowed.
The court is correct, if the school is deliberately focusing on this issue, all view points should be allowed. But it’s pretty mean to wear a shirt like that. It would be like wearing a KKK shirt during Black History month. Or wearing a swastika because you’re learning about anti-Semitism.

In school, students don't have freedom of speech. Vulgar language, hateful speech, or even talking out of turn are all grounds for punishment. I don't see how this shirt doesn't fall under the realm of hate speech and constitute bullying or threatening behavior. Ironically enough, I attended a high school only a few towns over from Naperville, and we had the same situation with the same phrase. The school took no action, but her peers voiced their opposition and she never wore the shirt again.

In school, students don't have freedom of speech. Vulgar language, hateful speech, or even talking out of turn are all grounds for punishment. I don't see how this shirt doesn't fall under the realm of hate speech and constitute bullying or threatening behavior. Ironically enough, I attended a high school only a few towns over from Naperville, and we had the same situation with the same phrase. The school took no action, but her peers voiced their opposition and she never wore the shirt again.

when i was in highschool i couldnt go to my world religion class with a shirt that says, roman catholism is the higher way. i couldnt go to black history month saying god hates blacks. i coudlnt go to cooking class and say only italians can cook.... so obviously you cant go and discriminate against anyone in a SCHOOL. this is where we send our children to help and form them into decent human beings. were all entitled to our opinions but in a certain manner. this was wrong in my eyes.
