@2012thdragon the open pit faces west towards koronadal valley. it will be affected all the way to buluan lake, on the west side. on the east side the tailings dam flows to davao sur. there will be effects also on sultan kudarar

@2012thdragon the dam design would be superb, definitely. It will be built into stages until it reaches the final crest, and designed strong enough to hold the tails as normally being anticipated in all infrastructures about to be built. What i am concerned of are the crocodiles inside SMI. Philippines is now holding the biggest croc caught alive in Bunawan, replacing Australia. But again Australia will get it back again once SMI's crocodiles becomes big in a few more years to come

@eastwind7 Because of some people against this operation, more and more small scale miners operate without any permits, which causes larger damage to the environment due to not following the proper way of mining. If only government/people permits mining,

dahil sa mga kagustuhan natin sa mga kagamitan at talagang nagpoproduce sila nyan... kung walang humpay ang pagkahilig sa mga kagamitan na may bakal, coper, metal, plastic ay di yan sila titigil... mas madali kasi mag mina kesa magrecycle kasi tayo mismo di natin tinatapon sa recycle bin ang ating kalat... kaya pano sila makakagawa ng recycle kung nakakalat lang ang mga basura natin

@sirknightbear as explained, the best well designed dams have collapsed. who will run the treatment plant when the mining firm has left with its billions in profits. remember the toxic wastes are there in perpetuity. also, after treatment, where do you put the sludge
