on my 210 i just took some old motocycle exhaust punched out the baffles welded one to the header nd cut a hole it to weld the other one to it sounds pretty sick
UPDATE: This mower has gone on to meet its maker. The transmission case split in 2, and the engine was starting to burn oil after i had disconnected the gov. The only things i had done to it were add the flappers, fix the carb, and add some 22" Mud bugs off of an ATV.
I remember straight piping a Simplicity 7116 16 horse Briggs single, and then just running open exhaust. I knew it's not good for your valves but man did that thing sound awesome! The next 4 wheel tractor I own is getting dual stacks now lol!
I had a 116 that lasted 8 years, not a bad mower for the price. Had bad luck with the home depot deeres. I finally gave in and bought an Ingersoll 4018. Ingersolls put all else to shame. I do miss my 116 though...wanna sell me yours?
I have just realised something, and this is something I have been fighting for years. All of the Briggs vertical opposed twins have a left cylinder miss at lower speeds. They load up and then, when you throttle up, the cylinder clears out. Every one I had the heads off had some oil at the bottom of that cylinder. For some reason, these engines choose to push a little oil into the left side at low speeds. Very strange, but this vid and a few others I have seen confirm it.
Not a direct remedy, because the exact cause is still not pinpointed. I open up the main jet with a drill bit. I can't remember the size at the moment. This applies to fixed main jet, not adjustable type. Doing this allows the idle mix to be set leaner, and alleviates some of the loading up and miss on the left cylinder. My one engine especially, really woke up with the jet being bigger. These things are pigs. They run best making black smoke when you get on the throttle.
i wanna do this and take er to the track haha

Don't be sorry. this berniball is eing a dick apparently. Its a perfectly legit question.
It's not just to do with angles. That length of pipe also gives it a good amount of backpressure. It's also fairy narrow in diameter.
CSAKvids 2 years ago
it looks like you ran it straight from the engine and since it is only a 90 deg angle wouldnt it burn up a valve? maybe?

Take it there's no way to remedy the problem?
Anyway, it gives them character

well then just take the oil out and it wont get in the cylinder that will fix it
jk
there must be a ring update or some thing to fix that problem after market piston and rings?

made from plumbing parts from Lowes
fanmanJ 3 years ago
What engine is that, Briggs?
olddeeres 3 years ago
why is one taller than the other? it kinda looks it.. but cool anyway. =D
labreck12 3 years ago
hadnt noticed until you said. does look slightly odd. can easily be cut though (:
i love the sound
CSAKvids 3 years ago
because on an opposed cylinder mower engine one exhaust port is higher than the other. you can't have two cylinders directly acroos from eachother.
CCDProductions 3 years ago
true.. but you could have cut one shorter instead, i wasnt saying it looked bad, but it just looks different.
labreck12 3 years ago
he should put balloons on the end and have a carnival with monkeys

lol.. random
labreck12 3 years ago
Yeah that's pretty random. Actually I've trimmed the long stack now, just havent made a new vid yet.
